PONDER on THIS for Monday, April 28th, 2008 by Carolyn J. Gable in EVERYTHING I KNOW AS A CEO I LEARNED AS A WAITRESS
"Every morning when I wake up, I have a conversation with God. I say, 'Today, let me be everything you want me to be. How can I serve you today?' Before going to bed at night, we talk again. I say, 'Thanks you for the day and all its blessings. Thank you for this beautiful, wonderful life you have given me.' These are prayers I adopted as a young woman, long before the waitress became a CEO. Success was not about money back then (even when I was counting tips down to the last nickel) and it is not about money today. It is about service.
This thread of spirituality is particularly strong in the workplace. Don't be surprised. Spirituality touches anyone who calls herself or himself an entrepreneur. Why? Because the entrepreneur values enthusiasm and intuition above intelligence in driving them toward whatever quest they are pursuing. Enthusiasm is derived from the Greed word Enthous, which translates as 'God within' or 'Possessed by godliness.' Intuition is our ability to perceive the truth, even if the facts don't support it, or if everyone around you thinks you are just a little bit crazy...Trusting your intuition and letting your enthusiasm run wild is what drives the entrepreneurial spirit.
Spirituality is a belief in oneself and in God. It makes the questionable seem possible, and the fanciful seem real."
