PONDER on THIS for Friday, June 6th, 2008 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA
"In the case of prayer, there seems to be an underlying belief that if the answer to a prayer doesn’t come immediately after praying, happen exactly like we expect that it should, and look just like we imagined it would, then it must be something other than our answer. This way of thinking is very limiting. God, you see, works in “mysterious” ways – that is to say that the workings of God are beyond the knowing and understanding of the human mind. Why would we presume to be able to anticipate God’s next move? Why would we want to limit our possibilities for experiencing God to those experiences we currently understand, or feel comfortable with? We can not know God in the sense that we know other humans, nor can we understand how God thinks; and it would be impossible, without this knowing, to predict the manner in which God would choose to orchestrate the delivery of our answer."
