Effective prayer begins with mindfulness and awareness that each word was first a thought and each thought is essentially a prayer. With this awareness, and the further understanding that we exist within that which always tries to accommodate us and answer our prayers, we would see how counterproductive entertaining a negative thought for even a moment can be. This is what is meant by the saying, “You can’t afford the luxury of a negative thought.”
