PONDER on THIS for Thursday, September 25th, 2014 by Alan Cohen in WHY YOUR LIFE SUCKS AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT

“If someone asks you for help, serving them takes on an entirely different dynamic than trying to fix them. If a friend comes to you and asks, “Can you show me how to rollerblade?” or “Do you have any feedback for me on the talk I just gave?” or “Is everything all right between us?” you are being offered an open door. In such a case your response will be valued and heard, for you will be expressing from a position of clarity and service. You will not be trying to fix, but assist. And your results will be far more effective.

A Course in Miracles suggests that before you enter into any situation calling for teaching, healing, or human relations, remind yourself, “I am here only to be truly helpful.” The operative word here is truly.”
