BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, July 3rd, 2015 by Alan Cohen in THE DRAGON DOESN’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE

“Life is too short and too insane to take it very seriously. Yogananda said, “This world is just a big mental institution.” If we learn to see the people around us – and ourselves – as mental cases, we can laugh at the world and ourselves. Think, for example, of the things that people believe are important, like toothpaste that gives you sex appeal and blue jeans that cost twice the price because a name is printed on the hip pocket.

I believe if we cannot find a way to laugh about a situation, we have not seen it in a big enough perspective. We need to be able to laugh at ourselves and our problems. Sometimes our difficulties even disappear when we laugh at them.”
