BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, June 1st, 2020 by Paul Rademacher in A SPIRITUAL HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE UNIVERSE

The Devil Within – One way to creatively approach the issue of evil is to recognize…that we carry a pantheon of personalities within us. Some of these, we’re quite proud of. Others, we would rather die than reveal. It’s these hidden portions, oddly enough, that hold the greatest potential for wholeness…Once these rejected parts are not only recovered, but allowed to speak their message, then tremendous amounts of energy are released. One can then proceed in a direction of purpose and passion.

The danger of fascination with the devil, however, is that the rejected personalities, which are an inner phenomenon, get projected onto the outer world. Once this happens, we become unconscious of the traits within ourselves. Attributing them to Satan’s influence is a convenient way of making sure they remain separate from us. If we can admit, however, that the very things we condemn in others are part of our own psyches, then the world can become our teacher. When someone enrages us beyond all reason, we can begin to ask creative questions:

“What aspect of my personality is this person mirroring for me?”
“Is this person reminding me of an experience I wish to forget?”
“When have I felt this before?”
“Is there an issue haunting me that I’m unaware of?”
