PONDER on THIS for Friday, November 14th, 2008 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA

“Jesus spoke of our “divine inheritance” as being one of, “the kingdom, the power, and the glory of God.” This, He told us, is our inheritance – our birthright. He also spoke of those who sought to build their own, personal kingdoms here on earth, invariably, at the expense of others. This group of individuals seeks to profit from the labors of others, and place personal gain and power as priority number one in order to insulate themselves from the fear that comes with such positions. Jesus spoke of this “power” as being in all of us, however, and what we do with it – if anything at all – is a matter of free will.

Those who choose to misuse this power, as well as those who simply aren’t aware of the dynamics of such power, often receive some degree of financial, or “earthly” success; meaning that these particular behavior patterns are designed to elicit a materialistic benefit from our environment – the acquisition of riches and worldly (of the earth) goods. This, Jesus often reminded us, was to be their reward. Just as those who adorn themselves in those earthly possessions and take their relationship with God out into the public to be “seen of men” have their reward – they are indeed seen of men. Is this, however, the reward we are seeking?”
