Will Murtha: The tiny, niggling voice at the back of my head was often condemning, criticizing and abusive. I had to shut it down to survive.
Voice of Higher Presence: If the mental stream of thoughts in your head constantly condemns you, then it is most definitely not the voice of your own higher guidance. When your own internal guidance communicates with you, it is often wise, insightful and softly spoken. This tone is gentle and undemanding, unlike that of its counterpart, your fearful self. That ego part of your self is forever whining and critical. You are confusing the voice of your higher self with that of your fearful ego. Please try to discern between these two because one will lead you to your truth. The other will lead you to a state of constant fear, paranoia and indecision.
Will Murtha: I’ve had enough destructive experience in living from my ego state to last a lifetime. My past five or six years have been lived in this place. I have wasted too much time not listening to my conscience. Instead, I purposely shut it out and ignored its wisdom.
Voice of Higher Presence: You never completely shut out your conscience. You just mute it and suspend it. This is exactly the same for any unwanted emotions that you do not wish to face up to. You may deceive yourself in the illusion that certain emotions have evaporated, but they are causing havoc in your body under the surface. It is a grave mistake to believe that if an emotion is out of sight, it is out of mind.”
