Best of PONDER on THIS for Friday, May 23rd, 2014 by Richard & Mary Alice Jafolla in THE QUEST

“There is a craving deep within all of us to attain a greater spiritual awareness. Often we cannot identify this craving, this void we feel, and so we try to fill the emptiness with “things.” If you’ve tried that, you know it doesn’t work. No matter how many material possessions we own, they, in themselves, do not satisfy. They can never satisfy and so the sense of emptiness grows larger and more pressing as we get caught up in a frenzy of buying and accumulating in order to satisfy an ache that grows even larger with each purchase and each disappointment. We try to quell the sense of lack by acquiring even more, but it is never the answer.”
