PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, October 10th, 2017 by Stuart Wilde in INFINITE SELF

“Taking a spiritual view of life gives you automatic humility. You can’t fake humility. You are either a humble person or you aren’t. But the wonderful thing is, once you’ve stopped talking about yourself, showing off, demanding observers, cackling on about your achievements, pushing to the front, and so on, your humility becomes automatic.

The violence of the ego is not just physical; it is also emotional violence. The ego likes to hurt people, to belittle others and put them down. It likes to attack and make people uncomfortable because it is uncomfortable. Part of respecting all living things is controlling the emotional, physical, intellectual violence of the ego.

So don’t trash people. Even though you know that what a person is telling you is absolutely ridiculous, and you know they’re around the bend and won’t be able to pull it off, don’t trash them. Try to build them up. Say, “Yes, that’s a good idea. You might have to make slight adjustments, but I wish you well. I hope it works.”
