BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, May 28th, 2019 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA

“With religion, large groups of people are brought together with a commonly taught belief. These groups believe, among other things, that they share the same beliefs. Since no two people see exactly the same things, however, no two people could share exactly the same view, or the same belief, for that matter. We can say that we basically see things in a similar light, and that our view is radically different than what can be seen from over there; so we are more alike than different, and they are more different than alike. So we come to an agreement to wear the same masks so we can separate ourselves from those with different views, instead of trying to see what the rest of God’s creatures are looking at.

There is nothing wrong with this; but it should illustrate that, if you are joining together with some people, there are many more that you are not joining with. Since all light has the same source, you are choosing sides based on some difference between you that you see only on the surface – a superficial belief. The only difference between you and them is the masks you wear for underneath all masks there is only light. Religion, therefore, seems to be more focused on wearing the right mask, and wearing the same mask that everyone else is wearing.”
