PONDER on THIS for Monday, April 24th, 2023 by Jill Turland in GETTING BACK ON TRACK

“Social attitudes tech us it is bad to show emotions, that only the intellectual mind can be allowed expression. This imbalance between our respect for intellect and our respect for feelings is causing inappropriate reactions in the body when feelings are felt. Suppression has become the order of the day, the acceptable way to behave. How often were you told, as a child, ‘only babies cry,’ ‘there’s nothing to be afraid of,’ ‘stop that fighting,’ without any real help given as to how to resolve the feelings? Emotions – energy forces – are held back and get locked within the body, in the muscles, waiting to be set free, stored as prolonged tension.

Stress is the product of wrong beliefs and attitudes – work guilt, duty guilt, fun guilt, fear guilt, grief guilt, guilt guilt – combined with held-in detrimental emotions. Stress kills because of the accumulation of these stored emotions in the physical body, and their subsequent effects on the structure. It is quite amazing to see how health is regained once the relevant emotion or shock is released.”
