BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, February 17th, 2020 by Joan Borysenko, Ph.D. in THE WAYS OF THE MYSTIC: SEVEN PATHS TO GOD

“God helps those who help themselves. If you are not manifesting creativity and abundance in your work, relationships, and finances, take a look at the practical side of things. It is one thing to plant seeds, another to follow through with the watering and the weeding. God creates the miracle of growth through which the seed manifests its full potential as a flower, but we need to cooperate in the gardening.

Do you need to train for a different job? Are you practicing generosity of spirit in the workplace? Is your workplace dysfunctional? If so, do you need to move on, or can you help facilitate positive change?”

“Krishnamurti once said, “The moment you follow someone you cease to follow Truth.” I don’t believe in any organized religion or movement, only in the truth. Krishnamurti once told a story of how the devil and a friend of his were walking down the street one day when they saw a man ahead of them stoop down, pick something up from the ground, look at it, and put it away in his pocket. The friend said to the devil, “What did that man pick up?” “He picked up a piece of the truth,” said the devil. “That is a very bad business for you, then,” said the friend. “Oh, not at all,” the devil replied, “I’m going to help him organize it.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, February 13th, 2020 by Jeff Maziarek in SPIRITUALITY SIMPLIFIED

“According to Conversations with God, Book 1:

“You will not have that for which you ask, nor can you have anything you want. This is because your very request is a statement of lack, and your saying you want a thing only works to produce that precise experience – wanting – in your reality. The correct prayer is therefore never a prayer of supplication, but a prayer of gratitude.”

Now, read the above passage again slowly and let it sink in for a bit…

Did the thought cross your mind that being grateful for what has yet to manifest itself in your life appears to be somewhat backward? It really is quite reasonable, however, when you stop to realize that the Scriptures of essentially all major religions are very clear about the creative power of human thought. For example, remember the oft-quoted Bible verse that says, “For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”

If you take this statement literally, the statement is promising you that when you really want something, your thoughts (and feelings) are actually focused on the wanting and not the having. The only result, therefore, can be that you stay in a wanting state, which in effect serves to keep away that which you wish to experience. On the contrary, if you adopt the practice of being grateful in advance of having a particular desire fulfilled, you are essentially affirming the inevitability of its fulfillment.”

“There is no difference between God in Heaven and God on earth. I am the same God. I am One. I do not make flagrant distinctions. I do not go by whim. I am ever the same. I have no mood swings. I do not pick and choose. I love. I love all.

I do not have a temperament. I do not get angry. I do not wreak vengeance. I love. I love all. You were made in my image. I was not made in yours. I am God, and you are learning to see as I see, from a far vaster perspective. Come join Me in this high limb of a tree I sit in.

As a Human Being on earth, you are learning your divinity. The circumstances in your life in the world predicate that you learn your true nature and recognize your divinity and begin to express it. You are certainly not here to learn Human frailty.”

“Let things you have asked for unfold for you. You have already created them with your desire and ensured their arrival with your belief; you need only allow what comes naturally without resisting. Most people get into trouble here because they ask for something and then assume that they know how the Universe goes about creating such things. When things happen that they wouldn’t have expected to be part of the plan, they lose faith in the process. As belief dies, so does the realization of our desires. God works in mysterious ways; you simply have to get out of the way.”

“I suspect that the most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention. And especially if it’s given from the heart. When people are talking, there’s no need to do anything but receive them. Just take them in. Listen to what they’re saying. Care about it. Most times caring about it is more important than understanding it. Most of us don’t value ourselves or our love enough to know this. It has taken me a long time to believe in the power of simply saying, “I’m so sorry,” when someone is in pain. And meaning it.”

“Appreciate the beauty in your body and in yourself, today. Focus on what you do like about yourself. The more willing you are to do this, the easier it will become. Your body will respond to this appreciation and grow increasingly beautiful.

It’s become a habit to see what needs to be changed about ourselves. We’re waiting for perfection before we’ll love ourselves completely. You can change these self-critical tapes by looking at what you like about yourself and giving yourself positive feedback.

If you have trouble appreciating yourself, start by looking at others who have the same qualities you have and admire them.”

“Remember…your fellow travelers on life’s road are confused, as you are, by the events which occur in human life; they are confused by emotions and desires which they do not understand. Every soul is striving, even as you are; so train yourself to look beneath the surface of things, and you will find something true…buried, perhaps deeply, but it is there for you to find if you seek. If you remember this it will help you to remain tranquil, loving and kind.”

“This is most people’s reality: As soon as something is perceived, it is named, interpreted, compared with something else, liked, disliked, or called good or bad by the phantom self, the ego. They are imprisoned in thought forms, in object consciousness.

You do not awaken spiritually until the compulsive and unconscious naming ceases, or at least until you become aware of it and thus are able to observe it as it happens. It is through this constant naming that the ego remains in place as the unobserved mind. Whenever it ceases and even when you just become aware of it, there is inner space, and you are not possessed by the mind anymore.”

“Our knowledge is not complete, so it is not reliable. When we place our faith in the unreliable, we train ourselves to be faithless. We come to believe, in fact, that failure and disappointment are natural parts of our existence, so we accept them and then we expect them to show up in our lives. We cannot always make our desires real with sheer force and effort, so we lose the ability to believe in those desires. It is our desires that comprise our prayers; and a belief in prayer is the only way to make prayer work effectively. You must believe in your desires in order to achieve them. To do this, you must turn to methods that allow you to believe in the reality that you wish to create. You must believe.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, February 3rd, 2020 by Richard Blackstone in NUTS AND BOLTS SPIRITUALITY

“When you are sleepwalking you are constantly judging the events, people and experiences of your life as good or bad. You accept these judgments as dominating factors in your decision-making process and hold on to these judgments forever in your memory as beliefs. You then use these beliefs when you react to a present-moment experience without really analyzing whether your belief is reflective of the truth of the moment. Judgments that are “good” are acceptable and judgments that are “bad” are condemned. When you wake up you realize it makes no sense to judge things as right or wrong, good or bad.

The events, experiences and things that happen are only that – events, experiences and things that happen. When you are conscious and aware you can observe these events, experiences and things that happen, and instead of judging them, you merely discern if they are serving you or not. An event is not good or bad, in and of itself. It is merely an event. Does it serve you? If it does, then choose it and use it. If it does not, then choose again from the infinite number of conscious choices available to you. Sleepwalkers don’t see or are not aware of these other choices.”

“Whenever you find yourself becoming stressed, or your buttons are being pushed, take time as soon as possible to sit down and get in touch with that part of yourself that’s feeling out of sorts. Be in touch with your feelings. Don’t judge them or try to change them. Treat yourself like you would a best friend. If a best friend were struggling and asked for your help, ideally you wouldn’t judge or try to change this person. You would be there for your friend. And whatever it took, you would stay by your friend. That’s what you need to do for yourself. I call it loving yourself. You need to learn to accept and love yourself just like you accept and love best friends. You can see their warts and foibles, and you love them just the same. Similarly, be there for yourself. Do this for yourself. Love yourself.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, January 30th, 2020 by Shakti Gawain in CREATIVE VISUALIZATION

“In order to use creative visualization to create what you want in life, you must be willing and able to accept the best that life has to offer you – your “good.” Strange as it may seem, many of us have difficulty accepting the possibility of having what we want in life. This usually stems from some basic feelings of unworthiness which we took on at a very early age. The basic belief goes something like this: “I’m really not a very good (lovable, worthwhile) person so that I don’t deserve to have the best.”

This belief is usually mixed with other, sometimes contradictory feelings that you really are perfectly good and deserving. But if you find that you have any difficulty imagining yourself in the most wonderful possible circumstances, or that you have thoughts like “I could never have that” or “That couldn’t possibly happen to me,” it might be well to take a good look at your self-image…

Affirmations and creative visualization are a wonderful way of creating a more positive and loving self-image. Once you get in touch with the ways in which you are not loving yourself, begin to take every opportunity to tell yourself positive, appreciative, loving things. Notice when you are being mentally harsh or critical with yourself, and consciously begin being kinder and more appreciative. You will find this immediately helps you to be more loving towards others, as well.”

“Where do our worries originate? For many of us, childhood situations have left a scar – on some, so deep we think they will never heal, but the truth is we can all be healed from whatever traumatic situation we have had to endure. For others, it might be the pressure of being a teenager, but whatever it stems from, it will likely manifest itself at a significant point in adult life, such as when we become parents. I honestly believe that nothing is too deeply rooted or too painful to deal with, for it is often from the most fragile and wounded that the brightest lights will eventually shine. When we are ready and brave enough to face our demons and break through the veil of our darkness, only then can we readily embrace our future. We must be willing to take that inward journey through the dark night of the soul, before we can emerge through the flame of our existence and rise up like the phoenix.”

“Some people look as if they are trying to see how much punishment they can get out of life. The unfortunate thing is that most of them really do think that life is “attacking” them and that they are a victim. Well, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. If you are under attack, and you know you can’t win, you have two choices: Surrender, or die. I will tell you right now, no human has ever survived an encounter with life. So, knowing you can’t win by fighting, and that you are going to have your chance to die either way you choose, why not surrender to the current and see where it leads?”
