“Whatever the cause of our anger or resentment, personal or universal, the reason and the result are the same. That is, we are disagreeing with the Beloved, and in doing so we are creating a wall of resistance that keeps the Beloved out. We may think that events should be happening in a different way, and we may have our own agenda about when they should happen. Teresa believed that the soul becomes extremely anguished when the Beloved’s timing differs from its own.

Even if what takes place is for the greater good of all, and divine guidance has assured the souls of this, we still may feel uncomfortable if what happens is not what we anticipated. The poor soul, said Teresa, how it grieves over this apparent delay. Contrariwise, if you are full of good will and eat the food on the table with joy and thanksgiving, it will transmuted into beauty, vitality, wholesomeness and strength.
