“You are only as powerful as that for which you stand. Do you stand for more money in the bank and a bigger house? Do you stand for an attractive mate? Do you stand for imposing your way of thinking upon others? These are the stands of the personality seeking to satisfy its wants. Do you stand for perfection, for the beauty and compassion of each soul? Do you stand for the power of love and the clarity of wisdom? Do you stand for forgiveness and humbleness? There are the stands of the personality that has aligned itself with its soul. This is the position of a truly powerful personality.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, November 17th, 2011 by Megan Don in MEDITATIONS WITH TERESA OF AVILA

“Whatever the cause of our anger or resentment, personal or universal, the reason and the result are the same. That is, we are disagreeing with the Beloved, and in doing so we are creating a wall of resistance that keeps the Beloved out. We may think that events should be happening in a different way, and we may have our own agenda about when they should happen. Teresa believed that the soul becomes extremely anguished when the Beloved’s timing differs from its own.

Even if what takes place is for the greater good of all, and divine guidance has assured the souls of this, we still may feel uncomfortable if what happens is not what we anticipated. The poor soul, said Teresa, how it grieves over this apparent delay. She came to see, however, that this grieving was unnecessary and gave up on her own plans, asking the Beloved to show her “where, how, and when.” That is, she surrendered to where she was supposed to be, how it was to occur, and when it would happen. She opened her soul to receive all that the Beloved wanted to give her, and so she experienced an exquisite taste of divine grace working through her and for her, at every moment that she was ready to receive.”

“When you are on purpose, doing what you know you are here for, and forgetting about what will come into your life in the way of money and wealth, then money and wealth arrive in your life in amounts sufficient to provide you with a life of prosperity. And this is real magic in action. I can say this because it has always worked for me. When I chased after money, I never had enough. When I got my life on purpose and focused on giving of myself and everything that arrived into my life, then I was prosperous.”

“We are socially conditioned to believe that only doctors and medication can heal us. We are brought up with the false understanding that only pharmaceutical companies and modern medicine can “fix” us. It never even enters our heads to question that something more profound is possibly going on here. We never think to look into what the power of the mind can do for our physical condition. Heck, the majority don’t even use their minds, let alone tap into their infinite potential.

Scientists who study the positive and yet bizarre effects of placebos know that something extraordinary is going on. They know, without question, that the majority of the healing taking place is actually due to the patient’s own belief in the doctor’s prescription when a placebo is administered. These scientists know that it is the patient’s own self-healing that is curing his or her illness. After all, how else could somebody become completely cured by a placebo that is really nothing more than a harmless sugar tablet?”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, November 14th, 2011 by Doreen Virtue in I’D CHANGE MY LIFE IF I HAD MORE TIME

“When we believe that it takes a long time to get a new career, a different house, or a better
relationship, it does take a long time. But when we believe it’s possible for changes to instantly occur, then they do! The bottom line is this: Whatever you believe about time – that you have plenty, or that you don’t have enough – you are correct! There are no limits to the changes you can make in your life, and there are no time shortages except those that are self-imposed.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, November 11th, 2011 by Norman Vincent Peale in THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING

“You only lose energy when life becomes dull in your mind. Your mind gets bored and therefore tired of doing nothing. You don’t have to be tired. Get interested in something. Get absolutely enthralled in something. Throw yourself into it with abandon. Get out of yourself. Be somebody. Do something. Don’tsit around moaning about things, reading the papers, and saying, “Why don’t they do something?” The person who is out doing something isn’t tired. If you’re not getting into good causes, no wonder you’re tired. You’re disintegrating. You’re deteriorating. You’re dying on the vine. The more you lose yourself in something bigger than yourself, the more energy you will have. You won’t have time to think about yourself and get bogged down in your emotional difficulties.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, November 10th, 2011 by Don Miguel Ruiz and Don Jose Ruiz in THE FIFTH AGREEMENT

“You are here to enjoy life. You are not here to suffer over your drama or your personal importance. It’s not you, it doesn’t belong to your presence. You are here to be a dreamer, to be an artist, to be a seer. But you cannot be a seer when you only have eyes to see your own story, your own wounds, your own victimization. When you are still focusing on what your mother did to you twenty years ago, or forty years ago, or what your father did, or what your partner did, or what any of the other secondary characters in your story did to you, then you are not seeing the truth. If you are focusing on all that drama, then talking to you is like talking to a wall. Does this ring any bells someplace?”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, November 9th, 2011 by Caroline Myss in WHY PEOPLE DON’T HEAL AND HOW THEY CAN

“Our lives change externally when we change internally. One follows the other naturally, and try as we will, we cannot stop this dynamic. As is often the case, we will try desperately to take with us those people about whom we care the most, or to hold steady the external components of our lives, even as our internal fires rage and threaten to consume us.  Sometimes we succeed; often we do not. Our choice to proceed on the journey must be made in faith and cannot be dependent on who chooses to come along with
us.

As psychologist and theologian Sam Keen is fond of saying, two of the most important questions for your life are: “Where am I going?” and “Who will go with me?” And it is very important to ask them of yourself in that order.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 by Jonathan Parker in THE SOUL SOLUTION

“We’ve all heard the proverb, “You reap what you sow,” but most of us apply this concept only to negative situations. For example, we might say, “He wasted his life on gambling and alcohol, and now he’s reaping what he sowed.” But this proverb has a much broader application. It’s far more than a warning about extreme or terrible consequences. Rather, it’s a key to unlocking everything you could ever want.

The way this principle works is actually easy to understand: Life reflects what you hold at the deepest levels of your consciousness. This sounds simple, and maybe even obvious, but most people never really think about it, and few live their lives as if it were really true. And yet, the very nature of life is that you get what you ask for!”

“Being the president of a corporation has absolutely nothing to do with being awake, or being happy, or being a success in life. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Having a lot of money has nothing to do with being a success in life. You’re a success in life when you wake up, when you don’t have to apologize to anyone; when you don’t have to explain anything to anyone. You don’t feel the need, to explain anything to anyone. You don’t give a damn what anybody thinks of you, or what anyone says about you. You have no
worries, you’re happy. That’s what I call being a success.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, November 4th, 2011 by Ken Keyes, Jr.

“Meher Baba described the relationship between God and humanity this way: “It is for the sake of Love that the universe sprang into existence, and for the sake of Love that it is kept going.” God decided to play a game with Himself for “His conscious enjoyment of his own Divinity.” He divided Himself into countless millions of pieces. Each piece, such as yourself, has the ego-based illusion that it is a separate individual, whereas actually you are a chip off the old block.

Because we’re unaware of this connection, we live our lives as though we’re separate from God and from one another. The game God chose to play requires us to discover through the unfolding of love that we are one with God. It is the task of each piece (you, me) to gradually awaken to the experience – not merely the belief – that we are all a part of God.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, November 3rd, 2011 by Dr. Joseph Murphy in THE POWER OF YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND

“All of us have heard the expression, “You are what you eat.” If a thing is true, there is a way in which it is true. You are what you eat psychologically and spiritually. Thoughts of God, thoughts of love, kindness, optimism, joy, and good will, are the foods of health, joy happiness, and success; if you mentally absorb and digest a bountiful supply of these foods, you will attract and experience all these things in your life.

If you are hateful, envious, jealous, and full of hostility, the physical food you eat may well be transformed into various diseases of a psychosomatic nature. Contrariwise, if you are full of good will and eat the food on the table with joy and thanksgiving, it will transmuted into beauty, vitality, wholesomeness and strength. The bread or meat which you eat, become your flesh and blood after a few hours. This is essentially the meaning of “you are what you eat.”

“Society places different values on talents. A person who is talented in business or in the
professions is accorded a higher status than one whose talent is in sewing, cooking, repairing appliances, or hanging wallpaper. Yet, each talent is truly equal in value to every other talent.

It is important that we support ourselves and others in this thought. As our perception of the value of our talent improves, so will the actual value, to us and to others. The person who sews, knits or cooks with great skill, is entitled to the same acknowledgment as the successful president of a major corporation. Each is entitled to be treated as a superstar. However, others will always treat us in the ways we wish to be treated. Until we view what we do as important and valuable, no one else will.

“Persistence is guts. Stick-to-itiveness. Determination. The willingness to repeat and repeat and repeat until you’ve achieved the desired effect. Persistence says: Don’t give up!

In this sense, persistence is visionary. Expectant. A sacred journey resplendent with hope. When you persist you know, on a visceral level, that you are enacting your part in the invisible contract between you and the cosmos. Instead of feeling powerless, you feel alive. Instead of feeling hopeless, you have a sense that you’re on the path to somewhere. Instead of feeling like a victim, you feel like a person of action; in your deep self you know that this choice for action will one day be rewarded with a response.”
