BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, June 3rd, 2024 by Joan Borysenko in in THE WAYS OF THE MYSTIC: SEVEN PATHS TO GOD

“Is the glass half empty or half full? The poorest welfare recipients in the United Sates are wealthy beyond belief in the eyes of most of the rest of the world. Even street people have resources available to them that those in developing countries can only dream about. When is the last time you were thankful for your toilet or toaster?  For having a change of clothes or a pair of shoes? For the idea to call a friend that led to some interesting joint venture? My computer is definitely a Godsend. It is easy to fall into yearning for what we lack rather than gratitude for what we have. Give thanks for what you have, and abundance will fill your life.

“There may or not be a pearly gate to heaven, guarded by St. Peter. There may or not be a time of reckoning with points tallied up, sins examined under a celestial microscope. It is your choice to believe in this version of the afterlife or not – for really, what does anyone know?

Few have crossed the line and returned to tell. And what they do tell – of white tunnels, bright light and angels – doesn’t seem to include a ledger in the clouds for “naughty” and “nice.” When you lift off from the idea of right or wrong, good or bad, take punitive moralistic views out of the equation, and focus instead on heart’s opening into compassion, connection, love…this becomes the true measure of our lives.

Not what job we had, but how much we cared for others.
Not how much money we made, but how much we loved.
Not how many trips we took, but how much we enjoyed.”

“We turn our noses up at “divine guidance,” but curiously give it this wide range of names like gut-feeling, motivation, hint, intuition, sense, inspiration, impulse, urge, premonition, desire, imagination. It’s all Guidance, the real You sending messages from the infinite intelligence You are, doing everything in Its power to pass on some ideas or direction before you shut down again.

Guidance is Soul-talk, God-talk, Inner Being-talk, Expanded Self-talk, Cosmic Escort-talk. Guidance does whatever is necessary to get our attention and help us step into our Wants, be it oil for the car or new hair for a shining head. But to make it work, we’ve got to learn to trust what we’re picking up on that station.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, May 29th, 2024 by Dan Millman in LIVING ON PURPOSE

“Direct experience remains the most powerful teacher, but a book can provide a map of the territory, a preparation that enables us to learn more from our experience. A book can point the way, but we must still make the journey. So we don’t really have to choose between books and direct experience. Rather, the wisest course means choosing both. Our life experience may remain challenging, but we learn more from it.

It may take years of experience to integrate into one’s life the principles and practices learned from books. Our receptiveness and interests change over time as life teaches us, and humbles us. No matter what we may have learned in books, it is the nature of life that we lose face before we find wisdom, fall to our knees before we look up to the heavens, and face our darkness before we see the light. Each of us wanders through the wilderness of experience to gather worldly wisdom. Everything we encounter serves in its own way. We succeed by failing, learn by our mistakes, and rise to great heights by a winding staircase.”

“God knows this reality is arduous and wants us to succeed. He/She normally doesn’t directly meddle in our lives because that would interfere with our Free Will and go against the system He/She designed. God acts within the parameters of the reality that He/She Himself/Herself [oh, boy] set up. However, a past-life good deed could be coming due or a karmic credit card may not be maxed out, so occasionally we get treated to a driblet of “divine intervention.” Yet, it’s foolish to expect it. The miraculous is the exception. Don’t expect a miracle. To plead for special treatment diminished the sacredness of the ordinary. Work it out through the system. It is constructed this way for a reason. Don’t look for the skies to part to see God. See God in your morning donut, baptized in coffee.”

“The key is to understand that there is nothing we can see or perceive that we are not. If we did not possess a certain quality we could not recognize it in another. If you are inspired by someone’s courage, it is a reflection of the courage within you. If you think someone’s selfish, you can be sure that you’re capable of demonstrating the same amount of selfishness. Although these qualities will not be expressed all the time, we each have the ability to act out any quality we see. Being part of the holographic world we are all that we see, all that we judge, all that we admire. Regardless of skin color, weight, or religious preference we share the same universal qualities. All humans are the same in this essential way.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, May 24th, 2024 by Mark Nepo in THE BOOK OF AWAKENING

“Very often, when hurt or depressed or anxious, we encounter powerful feelings like ghosts without a body, trying to pour themselves into us, trying to dominate our lives. They seem to gather in the cave of our pain, stoking our wounds like stones in a fire that keeps them warm. After years of struggling to let my painful feelings out, I’m learning that the other side of this, which is just as essential to my well-being, is not to let the hurt or depression or anxiety set up camp inside me.

I must confess it has taken me all this way to fully understand that the purpose of surfacing these powerful feelings is to continually empty my heart and mind of its sediment, so that new life can make its way to me. There are dangers to not letting such feelings out. But once felt, there are dangers as well to not letting such feelings move on through. For just as our lungs must stay clear for the next mouthful of air, our heart must stay unobstructed for the next feeling we encounter. There is no freedom until we dance the ghosts from the chambers of our wounds, until we pile our wounds like stones at the mouth of our quarries.”

“The very fact that you are desperate to close a deal so that you can pay the rent pushes it away. Metaphysically, it hops up the road in front of you. The reason is that in order for people to give you their money, they have to feel secure. When you are out of control, they pick up on your emotions and back away. The same happens in negotiating – when you want something, the other people in the deal know it, and it either costs you more or something happens to destroy the deal. The way to negotiate is to release any emotion about the deal and be prepared to walk away. Then you are in control, and the power is with you.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, May 22nd, 2024 by Chin Ning Chu in THICK FACE BLACK HEART

“Self-observation is essential for self-growth. You must first understand the motives for your own actions in order to understand others. It is especially important to look within yourself in times of great distress and misfortune. If you can succeed in detaching yourself from the misery of your experience, you will see, with complete clarity, the real nature of the situation.

The world is not so simple that we can just make and follow rules about what is wrong and what is right. We seek an understanding of ourselves so that we will know what we ought to do in any given situation. You will gradually replace the beliefs you were taught with the truths you discover. It is not whether you turn the other cheek that is important. WHY you do or do not is most significant.

Self-knowledge is a more reliable guide to behavior than adherence to arbitrarily imposed standards, though both are susceptible to error. You will make mistakes no matter which path you follow, but mistakes made on the path to self-discovery will correct themselves, while those made through blind adherence to subjective standards simply perpetuate the folly.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, May 21st, 2024 by Danielle Rama Hoffman in THE COUNCIL OF LIGHT

“The idea that it would be helpful to another if you are poor, sick, tired, confused, unfocused, or weak does not make sense on a conscious level. But this is how people approach someone who is poor. They feel bad if someone is poor, suffering, dying, or hurt. There is the belief that if they are living such a wonderful life and if they do not feel sorry for this person somehow they are being cold, aloof, not caring, and not being a humanitarian.

Yet one of the most beneficial things anyone can do for another person is to see this other person’s divine self, to see their soul, to see their situation, to respect the decisions that they have made consciously or unconsciously to be exactly where they are. This can be one of the most beneficial things because when you do this you are seeing through the illusion of their life for them. You see through the illusion of the poverty or the illness. You see that they are eternal and that they are abundant. As you hold that belief for them, that unity consciousness and awareness, then it is actually more of a support to them than pitying them or trying to save them.”

“Self-love involves respecting the self and living in higher purpose. When you put value on yourself, your time, love and vision, so will others. Whenever you value and respect yourself, speaking with truth about who you are and taking appropriate actions, you not only evolve yourself, but you assist others by your example. The inability to say “no” to people reflects a world view that says other people’s feelings are more important than yours, their rights are more significant and should be considered first. When you do this, you create energy blockages within yourself, backing up resentment, anger and hurt which then sit in your aura and attract more of the same.”

“Poets describe us as prisoners of time and declare that time is our nemesis. If we listen carefully to our language, we will know that this is true. Quantity seems to be the essence of time. Experts warn us not to waste time. Time is money. Clocks and calendars measure the march of time. Our scheduling books overflow with dates, deadlines, and things to do. We value speed and efficiency above all. But over activity and obsession with time threaten our inner life and peaceful mind. We want to have time as our friend. We must reconnect with its deeper meaning.

By observing the rhythms of time in nature – the sun’s path across the sky, the growth of seeds, the changing seasons – we realize that time is not a mechanical measure It measures process. By detaching from clock time even for a short while, we can allow ourselves some moments of sanctified laziness. We grow to appreciate time’s fullness in the process. Time becomes our friend.”

“Think of a time when you were heartbroken and thought you would never be happy again (your husband died, your wife died, your best friend deserted you, you lost your money). What happened? Time went on, and if you managed to pick up another attachment or managed to find somebody else you were attracted to, or something else you were attracted to, what happened to the old attachment? You didn’t really need it to be happy, did you?

That should have taught you, but we never learn. We’re programmed; we’re conditioned. How liberating it is not to depend emotionally on anything. If you could get one second’s experience of that, you’d be breaking through your prison and getting a glimpse of the sky. Someday, maybe, you will even fly.”

“These days just about everybody knows that the state of one’s physical health is connected to the state of one’s mental health. Even doctors by crackie! Scientists stress the hell out of mice, then watch the cancer cells develop. They deprive baby chimps of mama’s breast, and watch them develop diabetes. The whole scientific/ medical community knows all too well there’s some kind of link between body and mind, they’re just not sure what it is…yet. Won’t they be surprised when they find out it’s nothing but our own energy.

Illness exists for only one reason: someone has flowed more low frequency energy than high. Which, of course, is why so much illness exists. Find the generally happy person, the one who constantly pulls themselves up and out of negative emotions, and you’ll find a healthy person. Always! People who are sick have shut themselves off in some degree from their Lifeline. It may not be obvious on the outside, but in some way or other, they’ve closed their valve off to their Source energy through worry, blame, guilt, whatever.”

“But what is physical pain? Pain is a message. Yes, please re-read the last sentence. We give a lot of power to pain because of the separation from the body (victimhood); this only makes the pain scarier. But physical pain is the body’s way of telling us that we are ignoring something inside. When one is in physical pain, it is a sign that the body is forced to reject the life force due to some configuration in the rest of one’s energy field. If the aura is balanced, the body is designed to receive pure life force in a constant abundant flow from the etheric blueprint of health.

When we block that transmission by our beliefs, fears, etc., the body is left on its own, giving us pain as a sign of its struggle. This pain is a message to our conscious awareness to pay attention to the imbalances in the energy field and to listen to the wisdom of the body. By attuning to the message, decoding it and, hence, releasing the rejection of life force, the body can heal itself.”
