PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, January 31st, 2017 by John St. Augustine in LIVING AN UNCOMMON LIFE

“Because we are creatures of habit and don’t like to break from the routine (even that which isn’t very good for us), find simple ways to change the way you see things. Drive a different way to work. Park in a spot farthest from the door at the supermarket and, while you are making your way across the parking lot, notice the things lying on the ground: money, old lottery tickets, and keys, whatever. Doing something different forces your brain to consider new options and ways of seeing the world in which you live. Set the alarm an hour early and just listen to the birds greet the day. Stay up an hour later (with the television off) and just sit. All of these little ways of increasing your sense of curiosity will become a new habit and help you to construct a different pattern that makes each day unique.”
