“The truth about labels is that they really say nothing about the essence of the person to whom we apply them…What is particularly paradoxical is that of all the labels we humans apply, it is perhaps the “religion” label that … Continue reading
BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, October 19th, 2011 by Neale Donald Walsch in CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD BOOK 1
“Some of your religions have built up whole theologies around the misconception that God would – or could – create anything imperfect. And that is what it is, literally: a misconception. For anything I conceive – all that to which … Continue reading

“The idea that God is angry and must be pacified by means of blood sacrifice and violence against others came from the teachings of Zoroaster, an ancient prophet and religious poet from Babylon. His teachings about an angry, vengeful, and … Continue reading
BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, November 26th, 2009 by John Randolph Price in LIVING A LIFE OF JOY
“Why can’t we accept the fact that positive living is the natural way of life? For one thing, orthodox religion has told us something different, which means that we may have to do some deprogramming on ourselves. We have to … Continue reading
PONDER on THIS for Friday, September 4th, 2009 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA
“When most people think of the word trinity, they think of religious descriptions of “the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” Sadly, it is through translations, misunderstanding, misrepresentation, and perhaps fraud and deception on a monumental scale, that most … Continue reading
PONDER on THIS for Friday, July 10th, 2009 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA
“Most group beliefs are based on various interpretations of the Bible, where Christian churches are concerned (each religion has their own foundational documents), and the Bible has some catch-all’s in it that put all such new rules to a test … Continue reading
PONDER on THIS for Friday, May 15th, 2009 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA
“When I compare religion with spiritualism, it is only to illustrate the difference in the perspectives each mask offers. None of this is to say that religious people are not spiritual, or that you have to either choose to be … Continue reading

“In the olden days, the idea was that individuals were too weak and sinful to have a meaningful dialogue with God. So, systems were developed whereby people had to use a third party to communicate with God. Once you had … Continue reading

“With religion, large groups of people are brought together with a commonly taught belief. These groups believe, among other things, that they share the same beliefs. Since no two people see exactly the same things, however, no two people could … Continue reading
BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 by Eric Butterworth in DISCOVER THE POWER WITHIN YOU
“To many people religion is synonymous with a church service – a spectacle to witness, a ritual to employ, a prayer book to use once a week. Religion is a badge of conventional respectability. Belonging to the right kind of … Continue reading

“Religious institutions are not the only arbiters of religious experience. They do not own the Truth, for Truth cannot be owned. Nor should they think they hold some franchise on our spiritual life. They are consultants and frameworks, but they … Continue reading

“The very questioning of the origin of the Bible is often considered sacrilegious by many a devout Christian, but is it unreasonable to want to know who wrote such an important literary work? Of course not. It is not solid … Continue reading
