“Blaming others takes an enormous amount of mental energy. It’s a “drag-me-down” mindset that creates stress and disease. Blaming makes you feel powerless over your own life because your happiness is contingent on the actions and behavior of others, which you can’t control.

When you stop blaming others, you will regain your sense of personal power. You will see yourself as a choice maker. You will know that when you are upset, you are playing key role in the creation of your own feelings. This means that you can also play a key role in creating new, more positive feelings. Life is a great deal more fun and much easier to manage when you stop blaming others. Give it a try and see what happens.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, November 18th, 2016 by Richard & Mary Alice Jafolla in THE QUEST

“It’s well and good to know about your spiritual nature – to talk about it and learn about it – but that in itself is not enough. The object is to experience your spirituality, to feel your oneness with the one God, to sense the comfort and healing and, yes, the guidance which God offers you.

However, all of this is impossible if you are too busy, to anxiety-ridden, too stressed, too noisy to listen. It’s like eating a nutritious meal while stressed: unless there is peacefulness during and after the meal, there can be no proper digestion and assimilation.”

“If we did not have the struggles and challenges in our life, we would never be urged to grow and improve. Everything good in life is created from a series of failures and defeats. Allow yourself to learn from each failure and continue to strive for your personalized fairy tale. Invent your novel of success and continue to work through the obstacles of learning that your creator puts in front of you. All complications and challenges are meant to take place exactly where and when they occur and your role is to unscramble the puzzle that is presented and continue with the universal purpose you were brought here to accomplish.”

“What truly constitutes wealth? In worldly terms, it is the possession of money and valuable things. But if we were to measure wealth in other ways, besides mere dollars, many who are poor in possessions are spiritually rich, and many who own much are spiritually impoverished. From a psycho-spiritual perspective, the truly wealthy are those who have an ongoing relationship with God and have learned that by giving of themselves they also receive much.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, November 15th, 2016 by Alan Cohen in WHY YOUR LIFE SUCKS AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT

“To think you know what is best for another person is an industrial-strength ego trip. When you try to play God, you overlook that God is playing your friend. From your limited human perspective, you cannot understand all the factors why someone exhibits a certain behavior; why and on what level they have chosen it; its relation to their life purpose; what they are learning from it; where it is ultimately leading them; and how it fits into the choices and lessons of others with whom they interact. All you see is one little piece in a multi-billion piece jigsaw, and it would be presumptuous and preposterous to imagine you see the whole puzzle.

If you could fix someone, you would rob them of free choice, which morally sucks. Free choice means that everyone has the right to live in heaven, hell, or Chicago, and they also have the right to move. They are free to take on challenges and then build the muscles to overcome them, which is why the difficulty arose in the first place.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, November 14th, 2016 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in YOUR SACRED SELF

“Begin to change the vocabulary you use to describe yourself and your expectations. Rather than using words that reflect your doubt, shift to words that indicate your knowing and faith.

Catch yourself when you use words and phrases such as “maybe, possibly, God willing, if I’m lucky, perhaps, one never knows.” Start using words and phrases such as “certainly, absolutely, God is always willing and so am I, I’ll work until it does happen, I know I can do it.”

When you use words and phrases that reflect an absence of doubt, you will conduct your life in the same way. Your actions will follow what you say, and what you say follows from what your inner world is. Change the words even if you don’t mean them yet, because eventually they will become your reality.”

“The gifts you have been given in this life do not belong to you alone. They belong to everyone. Do not be selfish and withhold them. Do not be selfish and imprison yourself in a lifestyle that holds your spirit hostage and provides no spontaneity or grace in your life. Risk being yourself fully.

Let go of the expectations others have for you. Let go of all the “shoulds” and “have tos” and consider what thoughts and actions bring you the greatest joy. Live from the inside out, not from the outside in.

To move toward your joy is NOT selfish. It is in fact the most kind action you can perform toward others. That is because your gift is needed. The spirit of others cannot be lifted up unless you trust your gift and give it unconditionally to the world.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, November 10th, 2016 by Sanaya Roman in LIVING WITH JOY

“All of you have desires, and desires make up what I call your “desire body.” There are things that you want to have in your life. If I asked you what you desire, what is most important to have right now, you could tell me if you stopped and thought about it. When you give thanks, you affect your desire body. The desire body is quite restless, like the emotional body. It is always focusing on what it does not have and what it wants to create. It has a purpose, for it brings you new forms, motivation, and creative energy. Yet, it can bring you a sense of runaway energy – reminding you of all the things you have yet to do and create.

Your desires can seem overwhelming, if you have too many unfulfilled ones. Giving thanks directly affects desires by allowing them to calm down and to see how much they have created. Think of it as if you have a separate part of you composed of those things you have been wanting. When you give thanks, it empowers this part. For this self does not usually focus on what you have generated, but wants to tell you what you could do, how harder you could work, and on and on.

It always has a list of things for you to do, and it needs to be reassured, talked to, and calmed down. Feeling appreciation for what you have done will accomplish this, and will strengthen this part in its ability to create more.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, November 9th, 2016 by Eckhart Tolle in THE POWER OF NOW

“The pain that you create now is always some form of non-acceptance, some form of unconscious resistance to what is. On the level of thought, the resistance is some form of judgment. On the emotional level, it is some form of negativity. The intensity of the pain depends on the degree of resistance to the present moment, and this in turn depends on how strongly you are identified with your mind. The mind always seeks to deny the Now and to escape from it. In other words, the more you are identified with your mind, the more you suffer. Or you may put it like this: the more you are able to honor and accept the Now, the more you are free of pain, of suffering – and free of the egoic mind.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, November 8th, 2016 by Thich Nhat Hanh in NO DEATH, NO FEAR

“We are often sad and suffer a lot when things change, but change and impermanence have a positive side. Thanks to impermanence, everything is possible. Life itself is possible. If a grain of corn is not impermanent, it can never be transformed into a stalk of corn. If the stalk were not impermanent, it could never provide us with the ear of corn we eat. If your daughter is not impermanent, she cannot grow up to become a woman. Then your grandchildren would never manifest. So instead of complaining about impermanence, we should say, “Warm welcome and long live impermanence.” We should be happy. When we can see the miracle of impermanence, our sadness and suffering will pass.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, November 7th, 2016 by Gregg Braden in THE ISIAH EFFECT

“Viewing ourselves as independent of the world around us has precipitated a sense of separateness, an “in here” versus “out there” attitude. From the time of our childhood, we begin to believe that the world “just happens.”Sometimes good things occur, at other times things that are not so good. Our world appears to happen all around us, often for no apparent reason. In preparing for the what-ifs of life, we spend much of our time building strategies to survive and navigate whatever challenges may come our way. New research into the relationship between the power of our feelings and the chemistry of our bodies suggests that the implications of such “us” and “them” viewpoints are far-reaching, and, at times, unexpected.

Science has demonstrated, for example, that specific feelings produce a predictable chemistry in our bodies that corresponds to that particular feeling. As we change our feelings, we change our chemistry. We literally have what may be viewed as “hate chemistry” “anger chemistry,” “love chemistry,” and so on. Biological expressions of emotion appear in our bodies as the levels of hormones, antibodies, and enzymes present in our state of wellness. Love chemistry, for example, affirms life by optimizing our immune system and the regulatory functions of our body. Conversely, anger, which is sometimes directed inward as guilt, may be expressed as a suppressed immune response.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, November 4th, 2016 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in PULLING YOUR OWN STRINGS

“You are always a worthy, important human being, and there is never any reason to conduct yourself, or allow others to pull or push you, in any direction in which your basic merit as a human being is challenged. Moreover, in any situation you have a choice between (1) being effective and reaching your goals, or (2) being ineffective and, ultimately, being restricted from doing what you desire. In most cases – not all, but most – you can be effective, and in all cases, you can operate from the position of your own intrinsic worth as a person.

In dealing with your self-worth, remind yourself that by definition it must come from yourself. You are worthy not because others say so, or because of what you accomplish, or because of your achievements. Rather, you are precious because you say so, because you believe it, and most importantly, because you ACT as if you are worthy.”

“When we treat ourselves kindly even after a mistake, we are more likely to try again. Research by developmental psychologist Kristin Neff and others also shows that self-compassion makes us more accountable and productive. This means we have a greater shot at accomplishing our goals. When you are dealing with new circumstances brought about by changing conditions, you are bound to make mistakes. Next time, treat yourself gently, and you’ll make good from the bad.

But, how do you do this? How do you treat yourself more kindly even after you’ve screwed up? Start by acknowledging your blunder. Be accountable for it and apologize or repair it if you need to. Then identify what led to the error and give yourself a break. Say something like, “Well, I blew it and I feel bad about that, but I’ve done my best to improve the situation and I’m human and people make mistakes. I’ll work to do better next time.” Then move on. Beating yourself up keeps you tight and unhappy. Self-compassion frees you up to find awesome ahead.”

“Some of you are attached to other people’s opinions and base some of your actions and decisions on their love, approval, or validation. If you feel that you must be loved all the time and are afraid to do what you want because someone might stop loving you, your challenge will be to lose your attachment to needing that love.

You may have a belief that says, “If I act like myself, if I ask for what I want, I won’t be loved.” Tell yourself that you can have what you want and that people love you for who you are. You are freer to be creative, grow, and fulfill your potential when you are not bound by what others think of you.

Are the people you admire most the ones who always seek everyone’s approval before they do things, or those who trust and act on their own inner messages.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, November 1st, 2016 by Don Miguel Ruiz in THE VOICE OF KNOWLEDGE

“If one hundred people perceive the same event, you hear one hundred different stories, and everybody claims that his or her story is the true story. Of course, it’s only true for that person, and your story is only true for you. But the voice of knowledge starts searching for everything in your mind to make yourself right. You even look for allies from the outside to join you in your crusade to be right and to make the other person wrong. Why try to justify what you believe? You don’t need to make others wrong because you already know that in their story they are right. In your story, you are right. Then being right or wrong is over; you no longer have to defend what you believe.

When we reach this level of awareness, it is easier not to take what other people say personally. We know that every human around us is a story-teller, and that everyone distorts the truth.”
