BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, June 27th, 2016 by Alan Cohen in DARE TO BE YOURSELF

“It is possible for all the events of the past to remain as they were, but to see them in a way that makes our history a blessing. It is not so much the things we did that hurt us, but our interpretations and judgments about them. What we believe were our sins were honest errors. We and those around us have always done the best we could with the knowledge, experience, and understanding we had at the time. If we could have done better, we would have.

Remember that if we were totally perfect in expression, we probably would not be here in the first place. But we are here, we are learning, and compassion frees us to walk our path as we acquire wisdom. We can liberate ourselves from years of pain or heartache by taking another look at past experiences and reframing them in a bigger picture, one which reveals them to be blessings.”

Alan Cohen, in “Dare to Be Yourself”

“When you are angry at someone, you can either express it or release it. Expressing anger, putting it out to the world verbally, always looking out to make sure no one takes advantage of you, telling people that they make you angry, will only attract more of what you are trying to avoid.

If you release anger, you no longer have it in you and you will not draw more to you. When you release those things that make you angry or sad or guilty, you no longer attract them to you. You can choose to release things without expressing anger, for you are a fully participating individual in everything that happens to you.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 by Polly Campbell in IMPERFECT SPIRITUALITY

“As long as we are on the quest to be perfect, to fit some arbitrary image of the ideal person, we’ll be stuck. Think hamster on a wheel, stuck. We’ll be moving fast, sure. We’ll be busy, busy, busy, and we can even convince ourselves that we’re super-important, but we won’t be getting anywhere and we certainly won’t be growing into our best selves.

The practice of imperfection is about living well with all of your qualities – your strengths and talents, your flaws and failings. It’s about working with the success in your life and with the places where you don’t have it all figured out. When we recognize the limits of perfection, we become more comfortable with our less-than perfect behaviors. Living from this place of imperfection, then, becomes a power position, the path to wholeness.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, June 22nd, 2016 by Eckhart Tolle in THE POWER OF NOW

“There is nothing wrong with striving to improve your life situation. You can improve your life situation, but you cannot improve your life. Life is primary. Life is your deepest inner Being. It is already whole, complete, perfect. Your life situation consists of your circumstances and your experiences.

There is nothing wrong with setting goals and striving to achieve things. The mistake lies in using it as a substitute for the feeling of life, for Being. The only point of access for that is the Now. You are then like an architect who pays no attention to the foundation of a building but spends a lot of time working on the superstructure.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, June 21st, 2016 by Eckhart Tolle in A NEW EARTH

“Another simple but highly effective way of finding space in your life is closely linked to the breath. You will find that by feeling the subtle flow of air in and out of the body as well as the rise and fall of your chest and abdomen, you are also becoming aware of the inner body. Your attention may then shift from the breath to that felt aliveness within you, diffused throughout the body…Take two or three conscious breaths. Now see if you can detect a subtle sense of aliveness that pervades your entire inner body. Can you feel your body from within, so to speak?

Sense briefly specific parts of your body. Feel your hands, then your arms, feet, and legs. Can you feel your abdomen, chest, neck, and head? What about your lips? Is there life in them? Then become aware of the inner body as a whole. You may want to close your eyes initially for this practice, and one you can feel your body, open your eyes, look around, and continue to feel your body at the same time. Some readers may find there is no need to close their eyes; they can in fact feel their inner body as they ready this.”

“If you regret the past, you overlook the gifts it has bestowed upon you. If you see yourself as a victim, you deny your role as a powerful creator. If you feel guilty and believe you should have done otherwise, you are being too hard on yourself.

If you knew better, you would have done otherwise. You did the best you could with what you knew at the time. If everyone had to be a perfect parent before they had children, no more children would be born. You learn to be a parent by having children, and you learn to be yourself by having experiences. Give yourself some credit for the strides you have made rather than ruing the ones you missed.”

“Who You Are is life. You are life itself! And what is life? It is a process. And what is that process? It is evolution. . . or what you would call change.

Everything in life changes! Everything!

Life is change. That is what Life is. When you put an end to change, you put an end to life. Yet that you cannot do. And so you create a living hell, trying to do something you cannot do, efforting and straining to remain unchanged, when Who You Are is change itself. You are that which changes.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, June 16th, 2016 by Sanaya Roman in SPIRITUAL GROWTH

“You attract friends and loved ones whose soul development and lessons are similar to yours. There will be areas where your loved ones are more developed than you and areas where you are more advanced than they. You may increase your vibration to a level where you are not longer at the same point of development, and if this happens you will probably separate. In the meantime, as long as you are with people, view them as equals, even if they don’t do the things you think spirituality evolved people “ought” to do. When you feel superior or righteous, you contract your energy, close your heart, and lower your vibration.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, June 15th, 2016 by Florence Scovel Shinn in THE POWER OF THE SPOKEN WORD

“What is really yours? The blessings you bring to yourself, through your spoken or silent word; the things you see with your inner eye. Only your doubts, fears and resentments keep your good from you. If you hate or resent a situation, you have fastened it to you, for your attract what you fear or dislike.

For example: someone has been unjust to you and you are filled with wrath and resentment. You cannot forgive that person. Time rolls on and another person does the same thing. It is because you have a picture of injustice engraved in your subconscious. History will repeat itself until you think you are cursed with misfortune and injustice. There is only one way to neutralize it. Be absolutely undisturbed by injustice and send good-will to all concerned.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, June 14th, 2016 by Stuart Wilde in INFINITE SELF

“There’s nothing worse than going to one of those New Age conferences and watching all those people strut about. Grim. Absolutely grim. People have such a strange idea about spirituality. They think spirituality is holy-moly, clanking little bells, putting on vestments and robes.

Spirituality is the garbage man who believes in himself, the bag lady who knows who she is. She’s living an uncluttered life – she’s sleeping under the bridge in Central Park. That’s spirituality, where you become the simplicity of the raven flying overhead, the simplicity of the little animal in the forest – at one and at peace with all things, at one and at peace with yourself.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, June 13th, 2016 by Richard Carlson in DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF

“Criticism, like swearing, is actually nothing more than a bad habit. It’s something we get used to doing; we’re familiar with how it feels. It keeps us busy and gives us something to talk about.

If, however, you take a moment to observe how you actually feel immediately after you criticize someone, you’ll notice that you will feel a little deflated and ashamed, almost like you’re the one who has been attacked. The reason this is true is that when we criticize, it’s a statement to the world and to ourselves, “I have a need to be critical.” This isn’t something we are usually proud to admit.

The solution is to catch yourself in the act of being critical. Notice how often you do it and how bad it makes you feel. What I like to do is turn it into a game. I still catch myself being critical, but as my need to criticize arises, I try to remember to say to myself, “There I go again.” Hopefully, more often than not, I can turn my criticism into tolerance and respect.”

“Never act out of scarcity or panic. Do not allow yourself to be pressured into doing something you do not want to do or are not ready to do. Never let anyone frighten you into a decision. If you do, you will surely regret your action. Then you will have to retrace your steps and undo what you did from a position of “not enough.”

Instead, proceed from choice. Act when you are ready to act. Wait until you have come to a decision that works for you. If it’s not a “Hell, yes!” it’s a “Hell, no!” Associate with friends and business colleagues who are motivated by a positive vision than panic, hustling, or emotional manipulation. As you trust your inner knowing, your decisions will honor you and your intention.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, June 9th, 2016 by Mark Nepo in THE BOOK OF AWAKENING

“I don’t know if it is human nature or the way of life on Earth, but we seldom become all of who we are until forced into it. Some say that something in us rises to the occasion, that there is, as Hemingway called it, “a grace under pressure” that comes forth in most of us when challenged. Others say this talk of grace is merely a way to rationalize hard times and painful experience, a way to put a good face on tragedy.

Yet beneath all the talk of tragedy and grace, I have come to believe that we are destined to be opened by the living of our days, and whether we like it or not, whether we choose to participate or not, we will, in time, every one of us, wear the deeper part of who we are as a new skin.

Either by erosion from without or by shedding from within – and often from both – we are forced to live more authentically. And once the crisis that opened us passes, the real choice then becomes: Will we continue such authentic living?”

“An ancient teaching says, “The world is a teacher to the wise man and an enemy to the fool.” No event is painful in and of itself. It’s all a matter of perspective. It’s important to understand that everything happening in the world is as it should be every moment. There are no mistakes. There are no accidents. The world is a heavenly sky and a bottomless pit. When we understand that we cannot have one without the other, it becomes easier to accept the world as it is.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 by Neale Donald Walsch in ABUNDANCE AND RIGHT LIVELIHOOD

“If you want to know what you truly believe, if you want to really get in touch with the belief systems that are, I almost want to say running your life, look at what you’re resisting. And most importantly, look what at what you’re resisting changing. There’s no mystery there; we resist what we don’t want to let go of, and what we don’t want to let go of is what we truly believe. So, this isn’t a mysterious construction; it’s stating the obvious. And yet, sometimes it’s the most obvious thing that we ignore, and don’t really take a look at.

So I always tell people when I see them mightily resisting any suggestion, any change, any idea, any concept, look to see if that might be a very deeply held truth within you…that which you are resisting changing. And then look to see whether holding on to that truth as you are, with such white knuckles, is really serving you. Really take a close look at whether that truth serves you. It’s amazing how few of our deeply held truths actually serve us. It’s remarkable.”
