PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, September 9th, 2009 by John St. Augustine in LIVING AN UNCOMMON LIFE

“The only person you are in competition with is yourself. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to first realize that even if you win the rat race…you’re still a rat! Even if you think you have it all, someone will always have more than you. Does that make you less of a person and that someone more of a person? Slowly begin stripping – not your clothes, but your connections to the devices and things that keep you on virtual life support. Take a real dare and don’t answer your email for at least 15 seconds after it arrives…Bottom line is, in order to go from surviving to thriving, you have to remove yourself from the stimuli that cause the mind to be in survival mode – like riding a metal bullet every day for years on end to the corner office on the 104th floor.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 by Stuart Wilde in INFINITE SELF

“You have to understand the God Force – this incredible, supreme wonderfulness that flows through all things – doesn’t infringe. It doesn’t mess with people. It just allows you to be. You can be as silly as you want for as long as you want. God doesn’t come up to you and say, “Listen you little twirp, get your act together here.” When you’re ready, the energy is there.

It’s the same with the Infinite Self within you. It’s ready. You’ve just got to embrace it. The way you do so is by letting it become a part of you, and you join and become a part of it. So believing is vital – believing in the miraculous, believing in the righteousness and sacred nature of your journey. Try to see goodness everywhere. Notice the abundance. Notice the beauty. Move constantly to where there is serenity, where the God Force dwells, and away from discord and ugliness…Allow the cosmic nature of the God Force to flow.”

“You may be setting up a crisis right now, a challenge or a dilemma, to prepare for the birth of a new self. You are always going for the light. You may have interpreted what you did as not being the best you could do, so it is important to go back and change your vision, release and forgive yourself, and see what you learned. Look at what qualities the situation is developing or developed in you.

It may be leading you to a deeper truth or helping you to learn about what you want by experiencing what you don’t want. You may be learning to see your own light and to become more powerful, assertive, and clearly focused. Whatever you think you are not, you are working on becoming. Whatever any of you are asking for right now, you will have, but it may not come in the way you expect it.”

“When most people think of the word trinity, they think of religious descriptions of “the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” Sadly, it is through translations, misunderstanding, misrepresentation, and perhaps fraud and deception on a monumental scale, that most of our current religious practices have been derived. When I say, “sadly,” I am referring to the obviously unfortunate state of religion in general, as well as that of many religious people.

Face it; if you are doing everything your religion has told you to do (regardless of what religion that might be), yet you still suffer or experience lack, you are simply using a system that doesn’t work. It is not a case of you not being good enough, or not being smart enough to use religion effectively; the problem lies within the system itself.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, September 3rd, 2009 by John Randolph Price in LIVING A LIFE OF JOY

“I like what Benjamin Franklin said: “Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight.” And a couple of thousand years earlier, the Great Example told us not to be anxious about our lives because anxiety wasn’t a power to accomplish anything.

What happens to us when we stop fretting, and, regardless of appearances, turn our minds to the positive side of life? We loosen up, get lighter, the ego is weakened, and the power from within that reveals the all good begins to flow. We may even take time to play a little and let the responsibility for the “serious” part of our lives be handled by a higher wisdom and intelligence. That’s when miracles seem to be multiplied daily.”

“Allow your imagination to set you free…like a child playing unrestrained, with no worries. You have been on your voyage for a long time…you are on the right track. The gateway to your soul – your pure heart…will always lead you. Sometimes we forget to smile…do not take life too seriously. People get lost in the bush, but if you really know who you are…you will always find your way. There are many tomorrows in your world, but we must live for today. Fulfill your life in the moment…without looking to the future…Once you understand your truth…you can never go down the wrong road.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 by Fr. Anthony DeMello S.J. in THE WAY TO LOVE

“Has it ever struck you that you have been programmed to be unhappy and so no matter what you do to become happy, you are bound to fail? It is as if you fed mathematical equations into a computer and then failed each time you pushed it to turn out lines from Shakespeare.

If you wish to be happy, the first thing you need is not effort or even goodwill or good desires but a clear understanding of how exactly you have been programmed. This is what happened: First your society and your culture taught you to believe that you would not be happy without certain persons and certain things…Once you swallowed your belief you naturally developed an attachment to this person or thing you were convinced you could not be happy without…And, here is something else to ponder on: Each time you are anxious and afraid, it is because you may lose or fail to get the object of your attachment, isn’t it?…

Almost every negative emotion you experience is the direct outcome of an attachment.”

PONDER on THIS for Monday, August 31st, 2009 by Caroline Myss in WHY PEOPLE DON’T HEAL, AND HOW THEY CAN

“Keeping your focus in a positive direction takes discipline, and that level of discipline requires practice. Think of how easily you are distracted when you attempt to keep your mind and emotions aligned to a single thought. Unless you are a practiced meditator, your mind will wander in every direction within seconds. I once led a group of students through an exercise in which I told them to choose a thought and lock their minds into that thought to the exclusion of any other. Within a moment or two, a number of students sat up and complained that the “noise” outside was interfering with the exercise or that the light was too bright to do any serious “inner work.” Yet learning to detach from such distractions was precisely what they needed to learn.

Insisting that the external environment meet certain conditions before you are able to become internally focused is itself a distraction. You do not need to develop your focus as completely as a meditation master, but you do need to achieve a working relationship with your inner resources to be able to quickly eclipse a negative thought with a positive one and feel the positive energy that results.”

“You can choose to occupy your mind with harmonious thoughts, and you can choose to believe in any reality you wish, but the one you believe in is the one you get. If you are not choosing thoughts that serve your highest good, you are not thinking right. You are not bad, you are simply experiencing less than your share of something you are entitled to, and that’s not the way it is meant to be; it’s just the way it is. You deserve so much more than that; you are entitled to so much more out of life than you can even imagine right now.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, August 27th, 2009 by Stuart Wilde in THE LITTLE MONEY BIBLE

“People come to believe that being dishonest, covert, sneaky, and manipulative is normal. It is not; it’s very dark. Being on a power trip is also dark. That power may come from your physical strength, or it may be financial, political, or military power. Sometimes we become experts at wielding sexual and emotional clout, tormenting others with our control over them.

Almost all power is abused. That’s how we learn. We have to become strong inwardly and outwardly, without misusing the power we have. It’s very hard to get it right, and most of us err. Some lust for power. They get off on emotionally or psychically capturing others and maneuvering them. Bad karma.

We are also taught to lie, exaggerate, and obscure fact. We lie by omission, seeking to sustain one image while living another. To the student on the path, all of these are traps, and they have to be sorted out, for when you lie, it is to yourself. When you cheat, it’s the same. When you manipulate, you are creating a prison for yourself as well as your victims. In the end, everything you do is to yourself. There is only the Oneness, so all acts are self-infliction.”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, August 26th, 2009 by Alan Cohen in WHY YOUR LIFE SUCKS…AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT

“If you are losing energy in the form of joy, health, money, or love, you have a leak in your system. There is no malevolent parasite that has invaded your world and is undermining you. Your leak is on your property, and you have access to repair it.

The entire game of life is about making the best use of your energy. The question is not, “Is there a life after death?” The question is, “Is there a life before death?” To answer this for yourself – and live it – you must quit doing things that deplete your energy and start doing things that expand it. Moses delivered Ten Commandments that point to how to accomplish this, but A) Nobody wants to be commanded; B) Charlton Heston resigned as Moses to become head of the N.R.A.; and C) Nobody has enough patience on the Internet for ten commandments to download. So here is everything you need to know to relocate from Suckville:

Do what brings you life.

Do not do what deadens you.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, August 25th, 2009 by Neale Donald Walsch in WHAT GOD WANTS

“…Every thought affects the whole world — indeed, to some degree, the universe. How much? Probably not very significantly, given the lack of pure focus and consistency in the energy that most people emanate. Yet if that energy is focused and consistent, if it becomes a pinpoint of laser sharp and unremitting clarity, it can cut through virtually any obstacle in the surrounding energy field, reshaping that field in the form that we, as individuals, choose.

It is in this way that many people have learned to deeply affect and dramatically impact their personal reality. They live the lives they choose. And when many individuals make the same choice collectively, the combined energy of collective consciousness can have an immediate and detectable influence on the larger reality in any environment. Ultimately, this can affect life on earth itself.”

PONDER on THIS for Monday, August 24th, 2009 by Dean Shrock in WHY LOVE HEALS

“The research and common sense are that you feel best and are most healthy when you are able to be yourself, when you are being unique. You didn’t learn to be unique. Most of us learned to conform to the beliefs and values of our parents. You weren’t stupid – if you were going to be yelled at and made to feel unworthy and unloved for not obeying your parents or other authority figures, you’re going to soon catch on. You learn to equate love with conforming.

Your inner critic, like your ego, is simply a survival mechanism doing its best to help you make it in the world. As you experience more and more thoughts and feelings of separation and fear vs. oneness and love, you subconsciously create aspects or sub personalities of yourself that you come to believe are who you really are. They include your inner critic, rule maker, pleaser, responsible parents, and other selves. These “selves” that you call your personality, were developed by your subconscious, and take over when you’re feeling vulnerable. And your beliefs about who you are will be reflected in your primary relationships in particular. They are your mirrors.”

“We all have a story. We all want to love and be loved; though some were not taught, or cannot remember how. Each child loves its mother; and every mother loves her child. We all believe in different things; but we all believe what we believe. We all came from somewhere; yet none of us knows where that is. None of us likes pain; but some seem to enjoy suffering. And we all want whatever we want – even if that is nothing.

If we stop and think, we might realize that we are all experiencing the same things in different ways; and we are saying the same things in different languages. We are all thinking, and seeking our desires. Some understand how to believe in their dreams (like the Wright Brothers, etc.); and some do not. Perhaps we should stop arguing over which language and stories are the “right” ones and start learning about who we are and how to think of, and believe in, those things we truly desire or wish to experience.”

“Debts exist only because the concept is given general acceptance, and is used extensively in our society. Car loans, home mortgages and charge accounts are considered valuable vehicles for circulating money in our economy. Yet there are people who do not believe in debts, and they do not have any. Debt is not a requirement for living. Every day there are people who buy cars and houses for cash and enjoy doing it.

Debts are not an inherent part of the real Universe. If we are troubled by debts, it is possible for us to eliminate them from our lives. The people who have done this are essentially no different from you and me. They just have different thoughts about money. Thoughts that you and I can have also.

Debts are not a general condition. They are a specific condition. No matter how much difficulty we are having with cash flow, we do pay some of our bills. We do manage handling money to some extent, and whatever that extent is, it is not an accident…We have the capacity at any time to attract sufficient money into our lives to pay any debt that we really want to pay.”
