PONDER on THIS for Monday, July 21st, 2008 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in YOUR SACRED SELF

“When you begin to view people in terms of their divine essence, and literally see the fullness of God in each and every person that you encounter, you stop comparing. The idea that other people should be judged based upon how they compare with you is tantamount to the idea that you are a favorite in the eyes of God. It is as if you believe that God’s creations that are unlike you in appearance, personality, interest or talents are errors.

But how could there possibly be an error of creation when this is an intelligent system? How could a divine, all-knowing God make an error?”

PONDER on THIS for Friday, July 18th, 2008 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA

“Today, people think of the Gospel as the first few books of the new testament; but they don’t seem to pick-up on the reality that Jesus wasn’t in His own stories, He didn’t carry a Bible, and was at odds with religious convention because they enslaved people with their customs rather than empowering them with the New Wisdom He was teaching. Of course, the wisdom wasn’t New, but it was new to most of the people who heard Jesus speak. Focusing on teachers, events, and stories, is to lose sight of the lessons of those teachers, and the reasons the events and stories have endured. No, the gospel that is taught and preached today is not the same Gospel Jesus taught.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, July 17th, 2008 by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale in THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING

“The words we speak have a direct and definite effect upon our thoughts. Thoughts create words, for words are the vehicles of ideas. But words also affect thoughts and help to condition if not to create attitudes. In fact, what often passes for thinking starts with talk. Therefore, if the average conversation is scrutinized and disciplined to be sure that it contains peaceful expressions, the result will be peaceful ideas and ultimately, therefore, a peaceful mind.”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 by Jeff Maziarek in SPIRITUALITY SIMPLIFIED

“Beliefs form the foundation for a person’s life, so changing any fundamental belief in particular can be very challenging, and even more so if your family’s opinion remains a dominant influence in your life. However, once you make the decision to become more open-minded, it actually is increasingly easy to look at all of your beliefs in a more detached way. This “belief-review” process takes a bit of effort, but the potential rewards are significant as you come to the realization that perhaps much of what you’ve accepted as the truth actually serves to limit your possibilities for meaningful spiritual growth…

Simply put, it just takes some practice at being the “witness” that looks upon your life from the perspective of an observer. Once you develop some proficiency at being the detached observer of your life, you will find yourself being less emotionally attached to your beliefs. In my own life, there are times these days when I’ll look back at some of the old beliefs that were important to me, and I am actually amazed that I could have ever believed so many things that were not the least bit sustaining for me.

To me, the whole idea that God is some monarch in the sky who is keeping tabs on all of our choices is not reasonable. From a purely logical perspective, it doesn’t make sense that the Creator, the All That Is, the Pure Love of the Cosmos who loves without condition, actually “makes a list and checks it twice to find out who’s naughty and nice.” It really is somewhat amusing to think that the Creator who gave us “free will choice” now sits back and keeps moment-to-moment score of how each of us are doing with respect to obeying His/Her/Its commandments. Preposterous in my view, but an incredible number of people throughout the world believe it, making it exceptionally easy for many traditional religions to manipulate their behavior through the application of fear-based motivation (e.g., threats of Divine punishment) and guilt.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, July 15th, 2008 by Deepak Chopra in THE WAY OF THE WIZARD

“For a newborn baby the problem of holding on to ‘bad’ or unhealthy feelings doesn’t exist. The instant you throw something negative into a baby’s environment, it will cry or turn away. This is an extremely healthy reaction, because by expressing itself so freely, a baby can discharge energies that would otherwise cling to it.

As we grew up, however, we learned that it isn’t always appropriate to indulge in spontaneous expression. In the name of politeness and tact, or knowing our place, or doing what our parents said, each of us learned to hold on to negative energies. We became batteries with longer and longer shelf lives, until now as adults we hold on to anger, resentment, frustration, and fear that are years old. Worst of all, we have forgotten the instinct for discharging our batteries.”

PONDER on THIS for Monday, July 14th, 2008 by Asara Lovejoy in THE ONE COMMAND

“We all agreed to be born, and to be infants. We all agreed to be affected and programmed by our early childhood; every one of us has had this experience of our humanness. Yet we seem to identify ourselves as uniquely having this experience.

Our experience of the time we were children seems to be our unique suffering, or our unique experience of joy, or our unique experience of limitation, or our unique experience of physical challenge, or whatever is a unique experience to you. Because of this sense of uniqueness, we seem to think that we are separate from everyone else – that we have identified ourselves as the stories of our experience as our identities.

When we forget that our identity is more than those experiences, we become caught in the struggle of living. We become caught in the struggle of “working” our way through life rather than in the pleasure and enjoyment of living. It was shown to me that life is not a lesson, but rather a…learning. A lesson connotes judgment, and a pass-or-fail grade, while learning is an ongoing experience. We are here for the learning.”

PONDER on THIS Special Message for Sunday, July 13th, 2008 by Tom T. Moore in THE GENTLE WAY

“Your guardian angel is there to assist you every minute of the day, but you have to ask. We can use the metaphor of your guardian angel and angelic guides sitting around watching a TV set of your life as you live it. They are pretty bored, because they don’t get to help you very often. They can only “whisper in your ear,” and most of the time you don’t listen to them. They jump with joy when you acknowledge their presence and request even a little assistance. Requesting benevolent outcomes * will strengthen your spiritual beliefs, because you will be receiving constant feedback that there are angelic beings who love you and wish to help you lead a more gentle, less stressful life – the Gentle Way.”

Tom T. Moore, in “The Gentle Way”

* A request for a “benevolent outcome” is a request to your guardian angel for assistance.

PONDER on THIS for Friday, July 11th, 2008 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA

“Dwelling on the negative will produce a miracle in your life of a like nature. Trust me when I say that a downward spiral of depression is likely to result from dwelling on the negative. This is why it is so important to get outside, change your scenery, and find something positive to occupy your thoughts, when trying to get over a negative occurrence in your life. No matter how bad you think something is, it can always get worse. But it can get better, too. What’s the difference? The difference is only the direction and nature of your thoughts; and that is all.

You see, the manifestation of negative events, following a period of negative thought and emotion, is no different than hoping and praying for good and then experiencing good. If you can recognize the thoughts that preceded any negative event in your life, it is the same as recognizing that you were thinking of the person on the other end of the phone just before it rang. You are acknowledging the actions of God. God is always giving us what we ask for. Ask and ye shall receive – you should be seeing a common pattern by now.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, July 10th, 2008 by Neale Donald Walsch in COMMUNION WITH GOD

“You may think that you need a particular person to be happy, or a job to be successful, or some other emotional or physical gratification to be content. That is when you may wish to notice that you are here, right now, without it. Why, then, do you think you need it? Close examination will reveal that you do NOT need it, not to survive, not even to be happy.

HAPPINESS IS A DECISION, NOT AN EXPERIENCE.

You can decide to be happy without what you thought you needed to be happy, and you will be. This is one of the most important things you could ever come to understand. Your experience is the RESULT of your decision, not the CAUSE of it.”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, July 9th, 2008 by Sonia Choquette in TRUE BALANCE

“Just as a closed heart causes problems, so does one that is too wide open. Such a heart causes people to be overly sensitive to the energy of those around them, so much so that they actually absorb other peoples’ energy. This can be psychically and physically draining, especially when the energy is dissonant or angry. When you are overly empathic, the resonance you feel with others is non-selective. If someone is happy, you feel happy. If someone is miserable, you feel miserable. You are at the mercy of feeling whatever anyone else is feeling, whether you want to or not. It’s as if you were a lighting rod in an electrical storm. If energy is being discharged, you attract it…

Though we may tell ourselves that absorbing another’s hurt is kind and loving, in fact it is really an attempt to relieve our own discomfort. If we are loving, we realize that all of life’s experiences, even the painful ones, need to be honored, and that we need to stay in our own energy field. We must not try to control outcomes or assume we even have a right to get involved. We all need our experiences in order to learn. If we attempt to tamper with those of others, even with the best of intentions, we may be setting them back on their path.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, July 8th, 2008 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in YOU’LL SEE IT WHEN YOU BELIEVE IT

“You yourself are abundance in action. But the body that you call you cannot own anything or take anything with it when you leave. That body functions by forces and energy that transcend accumulations. All of the “stuff” of your life has arrived to serve you, rather than to make you a servant to the stuff. Everything that was “owned” by someone only a few years ago is now serving someone else. The land that was thought to be owned is now serving others.  The jewelry now adorns others. And so it goes in the entire spectrum of life. Nothing gets owned, and the sooner we realize this and stop trying to own things and people, the more we will be able to tune in to the wondrous principle of abundance.”

“For every spiritual concept that excites you, get still and reflect quietly upon it until something happens in you. When you read something that seems strangely familiar, something that is inspiring and unforgettable, it is because the words have stirred up an awareness of a depth of spirituality within yourself. It is the releasement of this innate potential that is the object of all study. The words of the teacher, the book,  or the course of study – are not the object of your search, but the means to the end of a personal revelation of truth.”

PONDER on THIS for Friday, July 4th, 2008 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA

“You are not simply a ship adrift in this world. You emerged into this existence through and with the power of creation. If you went to a fast-food drive-in and ordered a hamburger and soft-drink, you may not have cooked the food or poured the drink, but you are the creator of that moment, nonetheless. It was your desire and thoughts which set in motion the events that would ultimately see your desire fulfilled.

It is understandable that so many people simply write this off, along with so many miracles of manifestation, because they don’t understand and haven’t been shown the significance of such acts. The fact that you can become aware of a desire and then experience the fulfillment of that desire through simply thinking about it and doing what comes naturally, is an important piece of information in unlocking the power of prayer.

If you begin to look closely at such events in your life, as well as in the lives of those around you, you will see a pattern emerge. You will see that all of these things, no matter how simple or insignificant any of these things may seem, happen through the same process, follow the same pattern, and utilize the same principle and mechanism. Manifestation is manifestation; whether you want a cheeseburger, vibrant health, or a new job, this is your gift. Why would you not use such a thing to your benefit, or to improve or enhance your experience here?”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, July 3rd, 2008 by Richard & Mary-Alice Jafolla in THE QUEST

“The words I AM are so powerful that they must be used with extreme care. Why? Because the words I AM are your actual identity. They are your spiritual name, the identity of your spiritual self. Your I AM is the name of the God nature in you and of all the divine potential in you.

If you want to feel the power of the words I AM, substitute the words “It is my essence to be…,” or “It is my nature to be…” Thus a seemingly innocuous comment, “I am so worried,” translates into “It is my very nature to be worried.” A comment said in frustration, “I am completely devastated,” becomes “It is my essence to be devastated.”

Restated that way, those statements feel so uncomfortable to you because they more clearly point out that you are claiming something you don’t really want. You are identifying yourself with something far, far removed from your essence. Yet that’s exactly what happens when you used the words I AM. You put a claim into the great Creative Intelligence of the universe to transform yourself into whatever it is with which you are identifying.”

“A fully developed personality is not something we’re born with. Yes, we come into this world with certain genetic traits pushing us in one direction or another, and yes, our dispositions may display certain tendencies (i.e., a quick temper or a ready laugh). However, I believe that our personalities are meant to be developed over time, and that we have a great deal of control over that development. We have the ability to nurture elements of our personality. We can teach ourselves to adapt to a range of situations and relationships. We can change if we choose to. We can envision the person we want to be and we can become that person.”
