PONDER on THIS for Friday, November 21st, 2008 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA

“It is important that we learn and remember where it is our beliefs came from in the first place so we can keep ourselves out of this double-bind people often find themselves in. We are told, taught, or given our beliefs by other people – sometimes people we don’t even know. These beliefs rule our lives and are largely responsible for conscious decisions we make as well as unconscious decisions that are made for us by our subconscious mind.

If a part of you believes something that another part of you doesn’t, there is an internal conflict that projects itself outwardly as conflict, confusion, illness, negative emotions and situations, and dis-ease of all types, in your external world. The only thing worse than doing this to yourself, is when you tell the “white lie.” Pretending to believe something that the inner parts of you know to be a falsehood, or acting like you believe something you logically reject, will always bring you results you don’t really want – even if you think you do.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, November 20th, 2008 by Eric Butterworth in DISCOVER THE POWER WITHIN YOU

“In every experience we face, there is always a time when ultimate problems exist merely as seed possibilities. In all bitter feuds between people, in all wars between nations, in all emotional problems of individuals, there was always a time when misunderstanding could have turned to respect, when resistance could have been resolved by love.

Whenever you begin to experience adverse feelings within yourself about someone, deal with those feelings immediately. If you don’t the fire will spread and you may ultimately be imprisoned in a difficult experience.”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, November 19th, 2008 by Paul Ferrini in THE SILENCE OF THE HEART

“The only advice you can give to the seeker is this: seek for truth within your own heart, for there alone you can find it. Share your experiences? Yes, to be sure! Your story can be of immense help to others. But the boundaries of such an offering are clear. It is YOUR experience you are offering, a story, not a prescription for others. Whatever truth someone else sees in it is the truth he is meant to receive. And this, of course, will be different for each person who hears your story.

Ultimately, you alone are responsible for the beliefs you accept. Someone can tell you terrible lies, but it will never be his responsibility that you believed them. So do not waste your time blaming the guru, the cult or the church. Thank them instead. Tell them how grateful you are to them for pointing you on the true path. Without seeing their weakness and human frailty, you would have continued to idolize them and give your power away. Now you can reclaim your power and resume your path to peace.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 by Dan Millman in LIVING ON PURPOSE

“Many of us are so stuck on what we think we SHOULD do that we never pay enough attention to what we actually WANT to do. Finding your religion, your path, your way, is much like dating and courting. Although it may work for some people to marry their childhood sweetheart and never look back, most of us meet different people, gain understanding and perspective, and learn enough about ourselves and others that when we are ready to settle down and commit to a partner for life, we are ready – we are ripened and matured.

So by all means explore and experience until the time feels right. We were each given a divine spark of individuality so that we might live our lives according to our own values, NOT someone else’s. So trust God and trust yourself; in trusting one, you trust the other. And know that wherever you step the path will appear.”

PONDER on THIS Special Message for Monday, November 17th, 2008 by Gloria Wendroff in HEAVENLETTERS

“If life can be compared to a business organization, what department do you work in? Sales? Marketing? Collections? Customer Service? Accounting? Inventory? Shipping? Management? Advertising? Design? Reception? Administration? Manufacturing?

Of course, in function, you skip around and, at one time or another, have worked in all departments.

In terms of life, it is better to leave collections alone, for the concept of collecting keeps your attention on what is due you and what you may feel you have been denied. Leave that alone.

What is yours will arrive on its own, and what is not yours, no matter how strong your urging and persistence, it will not come.”

PONDER on THIS for Friday, November 14th, 2008 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA

“Jesus spoke of our “divine inheritance” as being one of, “the kingdom, the power, and the glory of God.” This, He told us, is our inheritance – our birthright. He also spoke of those who sought to build their own, personal kingdoms here on earth, invariably, at the expense of others. This group of individuals seeks to profit from the labors of others, and place personal gain and power as priority number one in order to insulate themselves from the fear that comes with such positions. Jesus spoke of this “power” as being in all of us, however, and what we do with it – if anything at all – is a matter of free will.

Those who choose to misuse this power, as well as those who simply aren’t aware of the dynamics of such power, often receive some degree of financial, or “earthly” success; meaning that these particular behavior patterns are designed to elicit a materialistic benefit from our environment – the acquisition of riches and worldly (of the earth) goods. This, Jesus often reminded us, was to be their reward. Just as those who adorn themselves in those earthly possessions and take their relationship with God out into the public to be “seen of men” have their reward – they are indeed seen of men. Is this, however, the reward we are seeking?”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, November 13th, 2008 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in YOU’LL SEE IT WHEN YOU BELIEVE IT

“When someone acts in a way you find disagreeable, understand that your hurt, anger, fear, or any strong emotion is how YOU have CHOSEN to process that person’s behavior. If you are unable or unwilling to notice that emotion and subsequently let go of it, then it is your self that is in need of attention. That person’s behavior has collided with something unfinished or unacknowledged in your life. Distress at the person’s behavior is your way of avoiding something inside of you.”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 by Jeff Maziarek in SPIRITUALITY SIMPLIFIED

“No resource has had a more profound impact on my spiritual growth than the live recording of a workshop by the late Fr. Anthony DeMello called Wake Up to Life. After just one session – a mere seven hours – my life was forever changed for the better.

DeMello’s Wake Up to Life is inspirational and thought provoking, and his presentation style is both entertaining and forthright in nature. Throughout the course of this seminar, he shares many valuable insights on a wide variety of subjects, and provides a very systematic approach to dealing with negative emotions to which he refers as the “Four Steps to Wisdom.” Each of these steps is summarized in the following excerpt from Awareness, The Perils and Opportunities of Reality: the book version of Wake Up to Life:

“The first thing you need is awareness of your negative feelings…Get in touch with those feelings first…The second step, is to understand that the feeling is in you, not in reality…So stop trying to change reality. That’s crazy!…The third step: Never identify with that feeling. It has nothing to do with the “I.” Don’t define your essential self in terms of that feeling…The fourth step: Understand that when you change, everything changes.”

The beauty of this approach is that it is practical, simple to understand, and easily put into practice. Based on my experience working with this technique, if you will begin to apply it in your own life, I truly believe that your relationships and overall peace of mind will improve.

For complete information about these Four Steps to Wisdom, read pages 78–89 of Awareness, by Fr. Anthony DeMello.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 by Deepak Chopra in THE SEVEN SPIRITUAL LAWS OF SUCCESS

“There is a very interesting mechanism that the Universe has to help you make spontaneously correct choices. The mechanism has to do with sensations in your body. Your body experiences two kinds of sensations: one is a sensation of comfort, the other is a sensation of discomfort. At the moment you consciously make a choice, pay attention to your body and ask your body, “If I make this choice, what happens?” If your body sends a message of comfort, that’s the right choice. If your body sends a message of discomfort, then it’s not the appropriate choice.

For some people the message of comfort and discomfort is in the area of the solar plexus, but for most people it’s in the area of the heart. Consciously put your attention in the heart and ask your heart what to do. Then wait for a response – a physical response in the form of a sensation. It may be the faintest level of feeling – but it’s there, in your body. Only the heart knows the correct answer.””

“Something grand is before you. Miniscule is not before you. Miniscule is behind you. That is why you must not keep returning to the past. You will miss the present. You really don’t want to miss the present. The present is presented to you. I present it to you right now. I present an unopened package of wonders, and it has to be opened right away, or the moment is gone.

Pull the little ribbon of time that seems to box it. In truth, it is a steady pulling of the ribbon. You pull it, and it slips from its knot and unwinds itself before your very eyes. And, with a gasp of joy, you remove the cover the ribbon held loosely, for life is given to you in breaths and in amazement.

And yet, sometimes you are sad with the gift of life and do not welcome it, this gift of life from God, the highest gift bestowed upon you from the Highest of All. You were thinking of one thing, and I another, so your eyes beheld disappointment, and you thought that something was withheld from you. Nothing is withheld from you. You withhold from yourself. Behold. Whatever is before you is a gift. And you must find its treasure.”

PONDER on THIS for Friday, November 7th, 2008 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA

“There is a great power which lies within each of us. Throughout history, great spiritual leaders, teachers, and healers have been well aware of such power and have gone to great lengths to share the knowledge of this power with mankind. While many of these individuals were killed for their beliefs and teachings, their messages were nonetheless true and enduring.

Despite different religious interpretations of these messages, as well as the obvious problems with translating ideas and concepts from one language to another, close scrutiny of most spiritual teachings reveals a common thread of truth throughout. That truth is that we are much more than we think we are and we are capable of things which most of us can hardly imagine. Even more profound is the fact that such astonishing power is our birthright – our inheritance. We arrive here equipped and fully loaded with miraculous capabilities.

An intriguing point within all of this is the fact that we each possess these powers whether we choose to use them, or not. Also interesting is the fact that you do not have to subscribe to any particular set of beliefs, religious or otherwise, in order to claim your inheritance.”

“Every day is a day of Judgment. We used to be taught that it would be at the end of the world. Look back at your life and see how you have attracted either happiness or disaster through your words. The subconscious has no sense of humor. People joke destructively about themselves and the subconscious really takes it seriously. It is because the mental picture you make while speaking impresses the subconscious and works out in the external. A person who knows the power of the word becomes very careful of his/her conversation.”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 by Neale Donald Walsch in FRIENDSHIP WITH GOD

“When you express pure love, you give yourself the direct experience of Who You Are. It is the greatest gift. It looks as if you are giving a gift to others, and you are giving it to your Self. That is because there is no one else in the room. It only looks as if there is. Pure love allows you to see the truth.

When you come from a place of pure love, you live a life that is beneficial to everyone. You make sure that everyone benefits from your having been there. “Kindness” becomes an important word to you. Suddenly, you understand its deeper meaning.

Kindness means not only goodness, it means sameness. You realize when you live in pure love that you and all others are of “like kind.” You are truly kin, and now, suddenly, you see that when you express pure love you are expressing kin-dness.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 by Rachel Naomi Remen, M.D in KITCHEN TABLE WISDOM

“The life in us is diminished by judgment far more frequently than by disease. Our own self-judgment or the judgment of other people can stifle our life force, its spontaneity and natural expression. Unfortunately, judgment is commonplace. It is as rare to find someone who loves us as we are as it is to find someone who loves themselves whole.

Judgment does not only take the form of criticism. Approval is also a form of judgment. When we approve of people, we sit in judgment of them as surely as when we criticize them. Positive judgment hurts less acutely than criticism, but it is judgment all the same and we are harmed by it in far more subtle ways. To seek approval is to have no resting place, no sanctuary.

Like all judgment, approval encourages a constant striving. It makes us uncertain of who we are and of our true value. This is as true of the approval we give ourselves as it is of the approval we offer others. Approval can’t be trusted. It can be withdrawn at any time no matter what our track record has been. It is as nourishing of real growth as cotton candy.”

“The doorway to deeper truth is awareness. It is paying attention to, and holding up, the vision of truth. The more you act from integrity, the more evolved you become. Every situation in your life that requires truth from you, that requires you to reach into a deeper level of your being, is an opportunity to grow. The more pain and struggle you experience, the greater the amount of energy you clean up when you come from your deeper level. Thank those situations in your life that seem difficult or painful. Know that they are opportunities to reach a deeper truth. Not a truth that will separate you, bring you anger, vengeance, or justification, or make the other person wrong and you right or vice-versa, but a truth that will allow you to connect at a deep level.”
