PONDER on THIS for Friday, December 12th, 2008 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA

“If you view life like a river, you would see that it basically flows in one direction. If you are in the current of life, you are weightless, surrounded by life, supported by it. If you struggle, you change the dynamic by making that which supports you your enemy. You are biting the hand that feeds you in a very literal sense. If you try too hard, you are saying that you can do it yourself. In a universe that takes you at your word, your efforts to “do it yourself” are met with an invitation to do just that.

When you lose the energy of love, and faith, that fuels the creation of all you see, you begin to see the deterioration of your surroundings; your creation begins to wither and will soon die if not rejuvenated with love and faith. In the river, any resistance you feel is caused by your efforts.”

“Part of your reason for coming to earth is to evolve yourself as well as to serve humanity in some way. We will call the process of evolving yourself “life purpose,”’ and the service you came to offer humanity your “life’s work.” They are intertwined, because as you serve others you will naturally evolve yourself.

You have a special role to play, something that you are uniquely fitted for. Your life’s work will take on various forms at different times. The form may change from month to month and year to year, so keep in touch with your purpose and vision as it expands and grows. You can discover your life’s work through examining the skills you love to use, the things you love to do, and the areas you are naturally drawn to. Whatever you love to do will also serve others in some way, for it is the nature of the universe that when you use your highest skills you automatically contribute to others.

Your dreams about your ideal life are showing you your potential and higher path. Don’t discard your dreams and fantasies as merely wishful thinking. Honor them as messages from the deepest part of your being about your life’s work and what you came here to do.””

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, December 10th, 2008 by Jeff Maziarek in SPIRITUALITY SIMPLIFIED

“From my experience while traveling the path of spiritual growth, I can confidently say that once you begin in earnest to seek a deeper understanding of yourself, as well as the nature of existence itself, it’s impossible to turn back. The more you open your mind to new ideas and concepts, the more you will want to explore. There is no way around it; it actually gets into your blood.

This discovery is a fascinating process; one that is incredibly rewarding, and at times very demanding as well, simply because spiritual growth requires that you step out of your comfort zone. It also requires that you become increasingly open-minded, and focus more and more of your attention on the present (i.e., on this life), rather than looking toward the potential afterlife rewards typically touted by organized religion.

Traversing this path is a lot like walking a high wire without a safety net, because unlike traditional religious practice there is no rigid dogma that exists to provide you with all of the”answers.” Instead, on this path you take on the responsibility for finding your own answers to questions such as: Who or what is God? What is the proper code of conduct for me to follow? What is the purpose of my life? What is the meaning of life in general?”

“To many people religion is synonymous with a church service – a spectacle to witness, a ritual to employ, a prayer book to use once a week. Religion is a badge of conventional respectability. Belonging to the right kind of church is often more important than BEING the right kind of person.

The church has a vital place in the life of man, but not as a supermarket in which to pick up take-out orders of faith and prayer. The church must be a school in which the individual learns the Truth of his/her unity with God and of the Kingdom of Heaven within him/her. Like any place of learning the church must seek to make itself progressively unnecessary, to help people become self-reliant. In other words, if the church is doing its job sincerely, it will be forever trying to put itself out of business.”

“Do not accept the limits of your form. That is what you have been doing. No longer accept limits. Unlimit yourself. I put no limits on you. I never did, and I don’t know how. What limit do you think that the Limitless can put?

Cease believing in limits. There are none but those in which you believe. You heart can travel anywhere. Your heart can take you everywhere. Your heart expands your mind. Your mind accepts limits. Your heart knows better. In your heart of hearts, you know the vastness of this enterprise of life that you have set forth on.

Remove your clinging to limits as you would a vine that has wrapped itself around you. Cling now to the vastness of no limits.

Nothing limits you. Do you hear this? Nothing limits you.”

“You see, fear comes from thinking, which we do in our heads; and our truest desires, like love, come from our heart, which is where we derive the true power behind any effective prayer. A desire to change your experience is the beginning of an effective prayer. Face it, you wouldn’t pray if there wasn’t something to ask for – even if you are just praying because you think it is something you are supposed to be doing. The only difference is that if you ask for these things you ask in prayer, and you do it sincerely and believing that it is so, you will receive these things. If you don’t believe that, then why pray in the first place?”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, December 4th, 2008 by Debbie Ford in THE DARK SIDE OF THE LIGHT CHASERS

“Everything we hate, resist, or disown about ourselves takes on a life of its own, undermining our feelings of worthiness. When we come face-to-face with our dark side our first instinct is to turn away, and our second is to bargain with it to leave us alone. Many of us have spent vast amounts of time and money in an effort to do just that. Ironically, it’s these hidden aspects we’ve rejected that need the most attention. When we locked away those parts of ourselves we didn’t like, unknowingly, we sealed away our most valuable treasures. These valuables are therefore hidden where we would least expect to find them. They are hidden in the dark.

Most people are afraid to confront and embrace their darkness, but it is in that very darkness you will find the happiness and fulfillment you have been longing for. When you take the time to discover your whole self, you’ll open the door to true enlightenment.”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008 by Sonia Choquette in TRUE BALANCE

“One of the most important things to understand about expression is its power to create your life. Our subconscious mind is programmed to accept absolutely everything that we suggest to it, and the two most powerful words we can utter to the subconscious mind are the words “I am.” When we say “I am,” we are commanding the Universe to manifest all that we utter.

Therefore, if we say, “I am tired,” our bodies, which respond to our subconscious mind, will say, “Okay. You are tired. Here’s tired.” The same holds true for “I am sick”; “I am poor”; “I am lonely”; “I am unhealthy”; “I am happy”; “I am invigorated”; “I am loved and lovable.” In other words, your expression claims the truth of who you are. Whatever you command will come to pass, good or bad, when using the words “I am,” if you invoke them consistently enough.”

“In mortal life what limits us first and last are names, labels, and definitions. Having a name is useful – it lets you know which birth certificate is yours – but it quickly turns into a limitation. Your name is a label. It defines you as having been born and such and such a time and place to a certain set of parents.

After a few years your name defines you as going to such and such a school, then on to such and such a profession. By the time you are thirty, your identity is hemmed in by a box of words. The walls of the box might consist of the following, “Catholic tax lawyer, educated at Cornell, married with three children and a mortgage.” These facts may not be inaccurate, but they are misleading. They trap an unconditioned spirit inside conditions. Many of these limitations seem to pertain to YOU when in fact they only pertain to your body – and you are FAR MORE than your body.”

“Are you aware of how tightly you hold on to what is not for you to hold on to? You try to hold people to you. You try to keep them in place. But people are travelers in their own lives. They rest when they rest, and they move on when they move on. You do not try to keep  them by force of your will. They are their own being. They play a part in your life as they will, on stage one moment, off the next.

PONDER on THIS for Friday, November 28th, 2008 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA

“There seems to be a million different self-help, self-improvement, and life-enhancement books and programs out there; and oftentimes, none of them seem to work. As long as people have talked about the power of positive thinking, there have been people who have said, “Bah-humbug! This doesn’t work!” Have you ever wondered what makes a cynical scrooge an expert on positive thinking?

There are two components to making your thoughts really count. First, there is what you think; this is your prayer, or the plan you are “trying” to make work. Remember; if you’re trying too hard, you are not relaxed. The other component is HOW you think, or more specifically, how your thinking is polarized – positively, or negatively. If your perspective is negative, the only way the Universe can respond is to bring you that which you greatly fear.

If you can’t seem to think positively, release the negative thought patterns by putting your attention on serving and blessing others. When you begin giving from the heart, you will begin thinking with the heart; when you learn to think with the heart, you will soon learn to believe with your heart and your life will unfold for you “as you believeth in your heart.” When you can’t seem to make things work, let them be.”

“When you complain that someone or something is making you sad or angry, ask yourself, “Why am I choosing to experience that feeling or to react in that way?” Blaming others will always take away your power. If you can discover why you are choosing to feel hurt by their actions you will learn much about yourself.

Some of you are afraid that if you stand up for yourself, you will lose someone’s love. Some people are quite good at convincing you that you are in the wrong when you do stand up for your beliefs. Thank them silently for providing you with the opportunity to become strong, for often strength is developed in the face of opposition. Self-respect means standing by your deepest truth and knowing your innermost feelings. It means making yourself and not another the authority of your feelings.””

“Whatever thoughts, beliefs, opinions, theories, or dogmas you write, engrave, or impress on your subconscious mind, you shall experience them as the objective manifestation of circumstances, conditions, and events. What you write on the inside, you will experience on the outside. You have two sides to your life, objective and subjective, visible and invisible, thought and its manifestation.

Your thought is received by your brain, which is the organ of your conscious, reasoning mind. when your conscious or objective mind accepts the thought completely, it is sent to the solar plexus, called the brain of your mind, where it becomes flesh and is made manifest in your experience…Your subconscious cannot argue. It acts only from what you write on it. It accepts your verdict or the conclusions of your conscious mind as final. This is why you are always writing on the book of life, because your thoughts become your experiences.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 by Joan Borysenko, Ph.D. in THE WAYS OF THE MYSTIC

“Two monks were walking at sunrise by the banks of a stream, swollen by the early spring rains. As they rounded a bend, they spied a young woman standing in the middle of the stream, holding up her heavy skirt, which was dripping with icy water. She had lost her footing while trying to scramble from rock to rock, and frightened tears slid down her beautiful face. The older monk hitched up his robe, strode out into the stream, and scooped up the woman in his arms. Having carried her safely across, he deposited her gently on the other bank. She thanked him with great relief, and the two monks resumed their journey.

When the sun set, and the monks were released from the vow of silence they kept during daylight hours, the younger monk turned to his brother with fury, shaking his fist and shouting, “How could you have picked up that woman! You know we have vowed never even to look at a woman, let alone touch one. You have broken your vows, sullied your honor, and offended God.” The older monk smiled patiently at the younger man and replied, “My dearest brother, I put that woman down on the other bank of the stream ten hours ago. You are one who has been carrying her around all day.”

“Less than confident means you do not know you belong on earth with all the full rights and privileges of a child of God. You think you are an interloper and you must tiptoe around and perhaps curry favor. Confidence isn’t bold, but it will seem like bold to you who have heretofore hesitated to stand in your rightful place of honor at the head of the universe.

Confidence doesn’t hesitate. Confidence doesn’t tap its foot waiting for something to appear, for confidence knows that you have appeared, that you are here, and that you are the knower of who you are and what you are here for.

Physical life on earth is a short span, but it is not on borrowed time. This is your time, not someone else’s. You are here to shine, not dim. You are here to sing, not to hold back.”
