PONDER on THIS for Monday, September 1st, 2008 by Don Miguel Ruiz in THE VOICE OF KNOWLEDGE

“The first step toward improving your relationship with yourself is to accept yourself just the way you are. You don’t need to learn how to love yourself. You need to unlearn all of the reasons you reject yourself, and by nature you love yourself. You love not the image you project or the way you are, but you love yourself because of what you are. Then you start to enjoy yourself until you love yourself so much that you give yourself everything you need. You don’t leave yourself until last anymore. The more you enjoy the presence of yourself, the more you enjoy your life, and the more you enjoy the presence of everyone around you.”

PONDER on THIS for Friday, August 29th, 2008 by Pete Koerner in THE BELIEF FORMULA

“It can not be stressed enough how important belief, trust, and faith are in making prayer an effective mechanism versus a hollow ritual. The way a person lives their life is often indicative of the degree of faith and trust they possess. A person’s actions also betray the truth of their beliefs – not the religious affiliations they proclaim, but what they truly believe in the deepest part of themselves.

The simple truth is that a little belief goes a long way toward seeing what you would like to see. Effective prayer depends on belief. When Jesus spoke of belief, He was referring to a belief in the process He was teaching, not of belief in any particular dogma or doctrine. This process Jesus was speaking of is the natural process of God, or the Universe; and the principal component in its operation is belief.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, August 28th, 2008 by Neale Donald Walsch in COMMUNION WITH GOD

“Judgment hurts deeply when those who judge you are wrong — yet it hurts more deeply when they are right. This is when the judgment of others cuts to the quick, tearing at the fabric of the soul. You have only to experience this once to know that judgment is never a product of love.

In creating your illusory world, you have produced societies in which judgment is not only accepted but expected. You have even created an “guilty” or “innocent.”

I tell you this: No one is ever guilty, and everyone is forever innocent, in the eyes of God. That is because My eyes see more than yours. My eyes see why you think things, why you say things, and why you do things.  My heart knows that you have merely misunderstood.”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, August 27th, 2008 by Jeff Maziarek in SPIRITUALITY SIMPLIFIED

“Faith means that you have such confidence in the certainty of something occurring, that you truly have not one ounce of doubt about it. Or, as I once heard Dr. Wayne Dyer say during a live presentation, “faith is not a belief that you will have that which you desire, but rather a confident, inner knowing that you will.” The difference is simple: A belief is a theoretical concept, one that can be easily affected by doubt. Knowing, on the other hand, is something that comes from direct experience of your own life, and thus exists within you, unencumbered by doubt. For example, you could have a belief that you can swim, but you will only know that it is possible when you actually get into a pool or the ocean and experience it…

This same principle applies to everything you want to manifest in your life, as you need to have a knowing – not simply a belief – that what you desire will come to pass. But is it really possible to have an undying faith that your most heartfelt desires will be fulfilled? In a word, YES! If you doubt this is true, ask yourself the following questions: Do you believe that the most recent meal you consumed will be automatically and efficiently digested, or do you know it? Do you believe that your heart will instantly adjust its beat rate to accommodate for increased physical activity, or do you know it?

The answers are obvious, of course; you absolutely know that all critical life processes will be taken care of automatically, so you never give them a second thought. Why then is it that the majority of human beings are unable to apply that same mentality to the other elements of their lives?…There is one very basic answer to these and all similar questions: at some point we were each taught at some level to be afraid, and our fear then transformed into a lack of trust in the God-Force for anything other than life itself”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in YOU’LL SEE IT WHEN YOU BELIEVE IT

“Young people are dying today to avenge their ancestors. They are fighting in the Holy Land, where Jesus walked preaching forgiveness. They wage war interminably. What does it prove? Where does it lead? To peace? Never. The vanquished respond with vengeance and increase the human toll in battles over ancient enmities. It can all begin to change with you, if you learn the universal principal of forgiveness, learn to transcend hatred as a response to hatred, and to give away peace in its place. It is not weak to forgive, it is a gallant and brave act.

Fighting weakens everyone who participates. Everything that you are against weakens you in some way. You simply need to forgive, and never let yourself behave in ways which you despise yourself. An ancient Chinese proverb tells us, “The one who pursues revenge should dig two graves.”

Wayne Dyer, in “You’ll See It When You Believe It”

“If you are motivated to succeed in the profession your parents warned you against; show up your elder brother in football; crush the company that fired you; or marry again quickly to prove that the jerk who left you made a big mistake, think again. When you set out on a vendetta to get back at anyone, they own your soul. Fuggetaboutit! If you are going to succeed, do it for you. Choose goals because you love them, not because others hate them. Do what you would do if no one else ever watched or cared. Do it because you care.”

“Anytime you feel resistance, anytime you feel like you are making an effort, let go. If you are trying, you are fighting what is. The reality is that life is going where it is going and we can not change that physical reality with physical force alone. You would be up against a force that swings an entire solar system full of planets around a star, for starters. Ask for what you want, unambiguously, and then let go of your illusion of control. You will be surprised at what happens if you can really do it – and you can really do it. We all can – it’s our inheritance. When we relinquish control of our thoughts, miracles happen. Of course, they aren’t really miracles; it’s really the way things are supposed to work. But we recognize these events so rarely anymore that they seem like miracles. In fact, St. Augustine once said of miracles, “Miracles are not contrary to nature, but only contrary to what we know about nature.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, August 21st, 2008 by Jack Kornfield in A PATH WITH HEART

“We must remember that the world’s current problems are fundamentally a spiritual crisis, created by the limited vision of human beings – a loss of a sense of connection to our spiritual values. Political and economic change have never been sufficient in themselves to alleviate suffering when the underlying causes are not also addressed. The worst problems on earth – warfare, poverty, ecological destruction, and so forth – are created from greed, hatred, prejudice, delusion, and fear in the human mind. To expand the circle of our practice and to face the sorrow in the world around us, we must face these forces in ourselves. Einstein called us nuclear giants and ethical infants. Only when we have found a compassion, a goodness and understanding, that transcends our own greed, hatred and delusion, can we bring freedom alive in the world around us.”

“The truth is you are a great being; you have within you the compassion, courage, strength, and wisdom to come from a high level at all times. You act out roles that do not reflect the greatness of who you are, but they are only roles and not your true self. The more you can be aware of the thoughts coming into your mind, the more control you will have over the drama that is happening inside of you. You can think of your thoughts as little men that come marching up, one, two, three. If you could stop each one and hold it up to the light you would find better ways of thinking. It is a matter of attention and awareness, taking each thought you have and examining it to see if it really is a true statement or not.”

“When you aren’t sure about where you’re going or how well you’re doing, RELAX. Becoming uptight, worried, skeptical or depressed is natural and to some degree, healthy; but don’t let it drag on too long. RELAX. Forget about your concerns and look around for someone else to help for awhile. Become concerned about their concerns and do what you can do to help them. Losing thought of yourself in helping others can do wonders for your own mental state.”

“Literally, when was the last time you had some dirt under your fingernails? For most of us, the ground on which we walk is something to fertilize, plow, or shovel. Just beneath the first couple layers of grass, rock, and stone, another world exists. If drilling is not an option, find a flagstone or brick to uproot. Check out what kind of activity is going on without regard to your human existence. We think we have dominion over everything until we remember this fact: there are five major themes in the biodiversity of the Earth.

First, there is the plant life in all its forms, from the mighty redwoods to the smallest ferns and lichens. Second, there is the animal life in all its forms, which includes everything swims, crawls, walks, and flies. Third is the water world – the amazing system that is the lifeblood of the planet – the oceans, lakes, streams, ponds, and the acquifer that feeds it all. Fourth, there is the geology of the Earth itself – the rocks, minerals, stones, sand, and dirt that hold this amazing little blue ball in space together. Fifth is the human race with all its potential and problems – just over 6 billion people, with more showing up every day. Now here is the kicker: the first four don’t need us to survive, but we need the other four in order to survive.”

“When we speak of the Great Secret of Life, we are speaking of what some call the Law of Attraction; but others simply quote Jesus, or the prophets of the Old Testament, and say that the Secret to Life is: “As a man thinketh, so is he.” Regardless of what you call it, we create our experience in our minds – with our thoughts, or prayers. And then, we reap in our bodies and lives what we have sown in our minds. This is simple ancient wisdom and truth. All great religions and philosophies speak of thought and emotions; all great governments have “think-tanks” full of scientist and “idea people” who think-up new technologies and strategies – to use thought-energy to create realities which never before existed. Prayer is concentrated thought; and prayer works – concentrated thought always produces results.”

“Look into yourself and examine your reactions to persons and situations, and you will be appalled to discover the prejudiced thinking behind your reactions. It is almost never the concrete reality of this person or thing that you are responding to. You are responding to principles, ideologies, belief systems, economic, political, religious, psychological belief systems; to preconceived ideas and prejudices, whether positive or negative.

Take them one at a time, each person and thing and situation and search for your bias separating the reality here before you from your programmed perceptions and your projections. And this exercise will afford you a revelation as divine as any that the Scriptures could provide you with.”

“We generate an electro-magnetic field of attraction or repulsion with our thoughts through the release, from our endocrine system, of hormones and chemicals known as peptides. We generate electro-magnetic charges with our thoughts that either attract to us or repel from us our experiences. Our thoughts travel through positive/negative receptors in every cell of our body and fire sequences in the neuro-net passages of our brain. These micro-electrical charges formed by our thinking are real. They influence our reality by magnetically attracting experiences of like kind to us in either a positive or negative manner, or by repelling experiences from us. Our unconscious thoughts that operate below our conscious awareness hold great power over our lives as they are firing the peptide messengers that unconsciously drive our choices.

When we desire to be masters and haven’t achieved it yet, there is a separation between the unconscious thoughts that are driving our choices, and the conscious thoughts of our desire.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, August 12th, 2008 by Thomas Moore in CARE OF THE SOUL

“Taking an interest in one’s own soul requires a certain amount of space for reflection and appreciation. Ordinarily we are so identified with movements of the psyche that we can’t stand back and take a good look at them. A little distance allows us to see the dynamics among the many elements that make up the life of the soul. By becoming interested in these phenomena, we begin to see our own complexity. Usually we feel that complexity as it hits us unawares from outside, in a multitude of problems and confusion.

If we knew the soul better, we might be ready for the conflicts of life. I often have the sense, when someone tells me anxiously about some knot they find themselves in, that what they perceive as an impossible and painful situation calling for professional intervention is simply the complexity of human life once again manifesting itself. Most of us bring to everyday life a somewhat naïve psychological attitude in our expectations that our lives and relationships will be simple. Love of the soul asks for some appreciation for its complexity.”
