PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, December 26th, 2007 by Karol K. Truman in HEALING FEELINGS FROM YOUR HEART

“Some may disagree that we have an epidemic of people who feel worthless. Instead, they may feel too many people love themselves more than enough. I invite you to look closely at those people. Do they really love themselves, or does ego (which is there to insure survival) do a good job of projecting that image? When a person’s image is running the show, a more appropriate designation than ‘self-love’ may be “self-absorbed” or “self-important.” Is it indeed possible they act the way they do to mask feelings of inadequacy?

When someone truly loves themselves, they aren’t enmeshed in their ego, or controlled by it. Neither do they find it necessary to constantly monitor their value through other’s eyes. A balanced ego doesn’t need regular feeding to maintain status or a place in society. They already have a stable relationship with the Self and with others. Those who love and possess a true sense of Self allow others their individuality without criticizing or trying to change them.”
