BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, April 25th, 2016 by Rich Work in GOD THIS IS A GOOD BOOK

You make the rules in the game of life; you make your own choices. For each situation there are no fewer than three choices. You can take the high road, the middle road or the low road – the easy path, the more difficult path, or the most difficult path. Any of them will get you to your destination. And I would remind you that refusing to make a choice is also a choice. It is often the choice that allows others to exercise their free-will choice over you.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, April 22nd, 2016 by Alan Cohen in DARE TO BE YOURSELF

“You are almost sure to rub some people the wrong way when you make a stand for who you are. But that’s not a good enough reason to stop – it’s all the more reason to continue. As much as people want to hide in the darkness, there is a place in their heart that wants to live in the light. If you confront people with your honest self, they may grumble and protest to your face, but they will go home and think about it. Your seeds of sincerity will find a patch of fertile soil in a barren heart, and given even a little sunlight and moisture, will sprout and grow.

Do not be fooled by appearances. Behind our culture’s obsession with fear and hiding, there is a massive call for authentic self-expression. The most powerful gift of redemption you can offer a world that is sick with deception is to live in the dignity of your own truth.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, April 21st, 2016 by Don Miguel Ruiz in THE VOICE OF KNOWLEDGE

“Life in this physical body is very short, even if we live to be one hundred years old. When I discovered this, I decided not to waste my time creating conflict, mainly with the people I love. I want to enjoy them, and I do that by loving them for who they are, not what they believe. The story they create is not important. I don’t care if my mother’s story doesn’t agree with my story; I love her and I enjoy her presence. I know not to impose my story on her; I don’t impose my story on anybody. I respect her story, I listen to her story, and I don’t make it wrong.

If other people try to write your story, it means they don’t respect you. They don’t respect you because they consider that you are not a good artist, that you cannot write your own story, even though you born to write your own story. Respect comes directly from love; it is one of the greatest expressions of love.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, April 20th, 2016 by Richard Carlson in DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF

“The people you meet are all here to teach you something. Perhaps the obnoxious driver or disrespectful teenager is here to teach you about patience, the punk rocker may be here to teach you to be less judgmental.

Your job is to try to determine what the people in your life are trying to teach you. You’ll find that if you do this, you’ll be far less annoyed, bothered, and frustrated by the actions and imperfections of other people. You can actually get yourself in the habit of approaching life in this manner and, if you do, you’ll be glad you did. Often, once you discover what someone is trying to teach you, it’s easy to let go of your frustration…..

You may be surprised at how fun and easy this is. All you’re really doing is changing your perception from, “Why are they doing this?” to “What are they trying to teach me?”

HIS for Tuesday, April 19th, 2016 by Thich Nhat Hanh in NO DEATH, NO FEAR

“When we lose someone we love, we should remember that the person has not become nothing. “Something” cannot become “nothing,” and “nothing” cannot become “something.” Science can help us understand this, because matter cannot be destroyed – it can become energy. And energy can become matter, but it cannot be destroyed. In the same way, our beloved was not destroyed; she has just taken on another form. That form may be a cloud, a child or the breeze. We can see our loved one in everything. And smiling, we can say, “Dear one, I know you are there very close to me. I know that your nature is the nature of no birth and no death. I know that I have not lost you; you are always with me.”

If you look deeply at every moment of your daily life, you will see that person. Practicing like this, you will be able to overcome your grief. The same is true with your mother or your father. Their true nature is the nature of not born, not dying, not arriving and not departing. In reality, you have not lost anyone who has died.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, April 18th, 2016 by Catherine Ponder in OPEN YOUR MIND TO PROSPERITY

“If you do not know what you want and have no set purpose, your subconscious mind just produces a conglomeration of circumstances. This is why there is so much confusion in the lives of passive people. Concentrate on one thing long enough, and you are sure to get it. Always have a definite goal in mind and write it down. Never let yourself drift…

There is a specific reason why you should get definite about what you want. The word desire, in its root, means “of the father.” It is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom, and it should be your good pleasure to receive it here and now.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, April 15th, 2016 by Dr. Stephen Russell in BAREFOOT DOCTOR’S GUIDE TO THE TAO

“Fear of being empty (minded, hearted, stomached or pocketed), originally arises from fear of the void, i.e., death. Tempting you to avoid the void is what the advertising industry makes its living from. Think of all the chocolate, alcohol, sex, drugs, CDs, cups of tea, shopping expeditions for unnecessary consumer goods, TV programs, long nights out in clubs and restaurants and meaningless conversations that have been had in order to “avoid the void.”

But, as you know, the void is your natural habitat, your place of origin before that sperm implanted and this endless round of shopping kicked in. Like the depths of the ocean from which life sprang, the void gave birth to all existence. There is nothing, literally nothing, to fear there.

On the contrary, daily bathing in its mysterious waters is to immerse yourself in the pool of youth, truth, good looks and vitality. Scuba diving in it is to submerge yourself in the depths of eternal consciousness and life itself.  This is another way of saying, “Invest in Loss.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, April 14th, 2016 by Sanaya Roman in LIVING WITH JOY

“Having faith in yourself, and letting go of those memories of times when things did not work will help you open to more abundance. If you must think of the past, think of those times you were powerful and creative. Go into your heart and ask whether you feel you deserve all the joy and love that is awaiting you on your path of higher purpose.

You can begin to imagine joy, peace and harmony as your birthright. Focus, clarity, and love are available for the asking. Request a vision of your higher purpose, and be willing to recognize the gifts every day as they come, even the small things. The more you acknowledge what is being sent to you, the more you can bring into your life.

Ask! We cannot give you anything unless you ask. The universe waits for you to ask. When you see it coming, be willing to take and receive it. When the opportunity comes, grab it! Thank and acknowledge the universe for it, and you can create Heaven on Earth.”

“Your intellect loves to plan everything out in a logical way; your intuition is spontaneous. Being flexible is important. If you rigidly stick to your pre-planned goals, you may miss many messages from your intuition telling you how to make things simpler. If you find yourself resisting doing something, stop and ask yourself what you would rather do instead. It may be that it is not the highest way to go or it may be the wrong time. If you trust and act upon your feelings from moment to moment, you will be flowing with your intuition and the universe.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, April 12th, 2016 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in YOU’LL SEE IT WHEN YOU BELIEVE IT

“How can you possibly own anything? Think for a moment about all of the possessions that you have in your dream – the cars, boats, money, toys, or whatever else you possess while you are in your dreaming body. When you awaken, you immediately realize that all of those possessions were illusions, and you only needed that temporarily for the dream. Now try to put this whole thing into perspective in relationship to the dream that you are now in, which lasts eighty or ninety years.

Imagine yourself awakening and being able to look back at all of your possessions. How could you ever have owned anything at all? The best, I mean the very best, that we can do is to have temporary possession of our toys for a tiny speck of time, and then, like it or not, we awaken and realize that they are of no use. Since the major part of our living is in the astral dimension of thought, things are of no use in this state of formlessness.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, April 11th, 2016 by Stuart Wilde in LIFE WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE A STRUGGLE

“Strugglers are often very social animals. They believe in a social reality, and they accept the opinions of others as truth. This forces them to live up to what are often the unreal expectations of others. They worry about what others think of them because they are not sure of themselves.

To go past this trap, all you have to do is to realize that your evolution through life is sacrosanct. You are the only one who can decide what is best for you. Only you have the answers. What society thinks of you is totally irrelevant, for others do not have all the facts. Remember, people will always try to manipulate you into their way of thinking. They will want you to act in a way that supports them. When you no longer feel the need to win their approval – because basically you have won your own approval – their manipulations of you become meaningless.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, April 8th, 2016 by Eckhart Tolle in THE POWER OF NOW

“Since ancient times, spiritual masters of all traditions have pointed to the Now as the key to the spiritual dimension. Despite this, it seems to have remained a secret. It is certainly not taught in churches and temples. If you go to a church, you may hear readings from the Gospels such as “Take no thought for the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself,” or “Nobody who puts his hands to the plow and looks back is fit for the Kingdom of God.”

Or you might hear the passage about the beautiful flowers that are not anxious about tomorrow but live with ease in the timeless Now and are provided for abundantly by God. The depth and radical nature of these teachings are not recognized. No one seems to realize that they are meant to be lived and so bring about a profound inner transformation.”

“Whenever anyone dies, no matter who they were or what they did, they go back to Spirit. Get over the eternal heaven or hell thing right now; it is all a fairy tale designed by people who want to control you by scaring you into doing what they want. Or to lead life as boring as theirs, so they are not jealous of the fun you might have because you are not afraid. Heaven and hell are experiences you generate with your thoughts and attitude, right here, right now. In any given moment you can shift from hell to heaven (or back). Behold your power to shape your destiny!”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, April 6th, 2016 by Alan Cohen in DARE TO BE YOURSELF

“To become all that you can be, you must welcome into you life people who ask more of you than you can ask of yourself. It is not healthy to surround yourself with people who always agree with you or play a game of littleness with you. A real friend values truth more than the charades that hold us back from shining as brightly as we can.

If you shelter yourself from challenge, your spirit will wither and you will grow weak of will. Your creativity will be reduced to a trickle. You will become bored and wonder what you are doing here. Learn to recognize boredom as a sign that you must escape the shell in which you have become entombed. Let restlessness spur you to reach out and stretch to your next creative adventure. As Helen Keller said, ‘Life is a daring adventure – or nothing.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, April 5th, 2016 by Stuart Wilde in SIXTH SENSE

“Generally speaking, a person can’t really become a noticer of life until he or she stops being obsessed with self. Our modern societies train people to become unreasonably self-indulgent and self-centered. Now it’s good to look after yourself and honor yourself and to concentrate on your life, but there’s a fine line between what is reasonable and the way some people operate. If the only thoughts going off in your head star with “I this” and “I that,” then the ego has you in its grip. It will gradually shrink your world to where its whims and neuroses and its focus are all you ever see. It’’s much like a small child who will make a huge fuss and create a scene so that its mother will attend to it – putting aside whatever she’s doing to care for the child.”
