“If you have a situation in your life right now that is less joyful than you want it to be, realize that it is teaching you important lessons. If you are in a crisis you may be reaching inward to the deepest part of your being and gaining a new strength and courage. You can choose to learn these lessons and gain these qualities with joy. Simply stop for a moment and make the decision to do so. Things may not change overnight, but they will change.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, November 30th, 2012 by Jeff Maziarek in SPIRITUALITY SIMPLIFIED

“This excerpt from Deepak Chopra’s book Ageless Body, Timeless Mind provides some revealing insights regarding the multitude of events that are taking place within your body, literally every second you are alive:

“A hundred things you pay no attention to – breathing, digesting, growing new cells, repairing damaged old ones, purifying toxins, preserving hormonal balance, converting stored energy from fat to blood sugar, dilating the pupils of the eyes, raising and lowering blood pressure, maintaining steady body temperature, balancing as you walk, shunting blood to and from the muscle groups that are doing the most work, and sensing movements and sounds in the surrounding environment – continue ceaselessly.”

In addition to those second-to-second activities, your body is gradually undergoing long-term changes as well. For example, by the end of one year, ninety-eight percent of the atoms in your body will have been exchanged for new ones, and by the time seven years have elapsed, your body will have completely replaced itself on a cell-by-cell basis. Amazingly, the stomach lining actually replaces itself every five days, the skin replaces itself once a month, the liver replaces itself every six weeks, and believe it or not, even the skeleton replaces itself every three months! And most importantly, all of this occurs without one single bit of conscious effort on your part.

Consider also that every time you eat something, your body automatically takes that food source and breaks it down into its component parts, uses what it needs, and discards what cannot be used as waste. What if you had to consciously control the digestive process? Can you even fathom all of the actions you would need to direct just to digest a single piece of bread? We take so much for granted about our bodies, yet most of us are quick to complain the moment that something within us is not functioning properly.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, November 29th, 2012 by Gary Spinell in BEYOND INTENT

“There are many techniques you can use to remain unattached. One of the most common is to make your request to the Universe and then write it down and put the paper in a drawer or box. Leave the message in the box, basically forgetting about your desire. In the situations where you are required to take action on your goal each day to achieve it, proceed with a positive mindset. Remind yourself that you will not only survive, but thrive, even if at first you do not achieve your goal. Also, if you are doing what is in your heart and your highest good, you will achieve your goal in some form.

Fear is the negative force that prevents us from achieving our goal. Therefore, it is essential that we pursue our goal with full force, but live each day to its fullest while we wait. Be patient and know that the Universe knows the right time for our dream to be achieved. We will not achieve it any moment sooner. So we can sit back and enjoy the ride. Otherwise, if we are attached to our goal, we could be waiting a long time.”

“The crux of the matter boils down to trust. You have to have the courage to embrace an idea, accept it, and believe it – BEFORE you have any real proof that the energy is there for you, or that the idea will work. You have to let go of that bad intellectual habit that says your ego-personality always knows best. By giving the infinity within you credence, you empower it to come into your life. It is almost as if you have to lose yourself a little in order to find yourself at a higher level of energy. If you won’t let go and trust a little, your ego-personality will constantly block off your inner power, and you miss the benefit of the subtle awareness and extrasensory perception that you’re entitled to as a spiritual being.”

Questioner: If there were a message or lesson from your Near Death Experience (NDE) that you wish everyone could know or understand, something that you wish you could shout out from rooftops, what would that be?

Anita Moorjani: I would want you to know that every part of you is magnificent – your ego, intellect, body, and spirit. It’s who you are – a beautiful product of this Universe’s creation. Every aspect of you is perfect. There’s nothing to let go, nothing to forgive, nothing to attain. You already are everything you need to be. It can seem so complicated, but it’s not…Remind everyone close to you to be themselves, and tell them that you love them just the way they are! They’re perfect and so are you. There’s nothing not to love. Most suffering stems from feeling “less than.” You aren’t less than anything or anyone! You are complete.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, November 26th, 2012 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in YOU’LL SEE IT WHEN YOU BELIEVE IT

“When you TRULY awaken you will see the insignificance of any attachment to any of your stuff. Imagine yourself after leaving this plane (dying), looking back at all of your attachments. You can see how unimportant they will then be. Think of the principle of detachment in a like manner. Detach yourself from the need to hold on to things and people. In essence you can never own anyone or anything. Every attachment is an impediment to living at a higher level of consciousness. On another level, attachments are responsible for reduced personal happiness and success. The more you can let go of people and things, the fewer obstacles you have for your life journey.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, November 23rd, 2012 by Jeff Maziarek in SPIRITUALITY SIMPLIFIED

“If you tend to reminisce about good times or relationships you have experienced in the past, you must understand these types of thoughts keep you from fully experiencing the present moment. Ideally, what you need to do is to develop the ability to completely experience whatever it is you’re experiencing at any given time, and then leave it behind. In the words of Fr. Anthony DeMello:

“Don’t carry over experiences from the past. In fact, don’t carry over good experiences from the past either. Learn what it means to experience something fully, then drop it and move on to the next moment, uninfluenced by the previous one. You’d be traveling with such little baggage that you could pass through the eye of a needle. You’d know what eternal life is, because eternal life is now, in the timeless now.”

Although this may seem like novel advice, it is quite practical, because many of us have a tendency to, as Henry David Thoreau once said, “loiter in winter when it is already spring.” If you are a person who is inclined to focus on good times in the past, please understand that all you are doing by “time-traveling” in this way is wasting thought and feeling energy that could be used in far more constructive ways. If you can begin to put into practice even in a small way what DeMello is recommending, you would most certainly notice an improvement in the quality of your life. You would also come to realize that these are indeed “the good old days.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, November 22nd, 2012 by Arnold Patent in YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL

“The principle that we “always receive what we want or believe is relentless.” It is in constant operation whether we notice it or not. People who struggle for a living, doing things they dislike, perceive the world around them at variance from the ease and simplicity which is open to them.

A related issue is one that many people have trouble with. It is a superstitious belief that in order to have some things in our lives that are good and positive, we have to be willing to accept things that are bad or negative to obtain a balance. This creates a continual block to progressing in any real way with the quality of our lives. Is it worth it to improve some aspect of our lives if there is an unknown price to pay?

To master “abundance” requires us to deal with two basic issues. First, we must be willing to fully and freely express ourselves by using the talent or talents that the Universe has given us to express. Second, we must notice any beliefs which we have that are in opposition to the principle of abundance. If we are not experiencing abundance we are literally pushing it away from ourselves.”

“When you make any choice – any choice at all – you can ask yourself two things:  First of all, “What are the consequences of this choice that I am making?” In your heart you will immediately know what these are. Secondly, “Will this choice that I’m making now bring happiness to me and to those around me?” If the answer is yes, then go ahead with that choice. If the answer is no, if that choice brings distress to either you or to those around you, then don’t make that choice.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, November 20th, 2012 by Eckhart Tolle in A NEW EARTH

“What is the role of the established religions in the arising of the new consciousness? Many people are already aware of the difference between spirituality and religion. They realize that having a belief system – a set of thoughts that you regard as the absolute truth – does not make you spiritual no matter what the nature of those beliefs is. In fact, the more you make your thoughts (beliefs) into your identity, the more cut off you are from the spiritual dimension within yourself.

Many “religious” people are stuck at that level. They equate truth with thought, and as they are completely identified with thought (their mind), they claim to be in sole possession of the truth in an unconscious attempt to protect their identity. They don’t realize the limitations of thought. Unless you believe (think) exactly as they do, you are wrong in their eyes, and in the not-too-distant past, they would have felt justified in killing you for that. And some still do, even now.”

“Being ambitious can be a wonderful thing. But being enslaved by ambition is horrible. People ruled by ambition don’t even live. There’s no need to explain this. We all know people like that. What are you to do if you are a victim of ambition? Put yourself in the presence of God, make an act of faith that the future is in God’s hands. Say to God, “Lord, I trust that you have control over the future. I am going to do everything I can to achieve my dreams, but I leave the result in your hands.” Afterward be thankful for what results from such an attitude.”

“Most everyone has seen the news media relate stories about people affected by violent crime who decide to visit a prison to forgive the person(s) responsible. These individuals are often portrayed as possessing almost a saint-like quality. The segments also tend to imply that what these folks did was well beyond what the average person could do. Yet as this passage from Dr. Joseph Murphy illustrates, every single one of us has the innate potential to behave in the exact same way, for the simple reason that forgiveness is as much a fundamental instinct for us as it is for the life force itself:

>”Life forgives you when you cut your finger. The subconscious intelligence within you sets about immediately to repair it. New cells build bridges over the cut…Life holds no grudges against you, and it is always forgiving you.”

Since all of us are individualized aspects of that life force, we do indeed share its instinctive nature to forgive; it is simply a matter of learning to allow that higher aspect of ourselves to shine through the darkness caused by our conditioning. Granted, it can take a lot of practice on our part to learn to allow that natural instinct to express itself, but the potential payoffs (i.e., greater peace of mind, improved relationships, better health) are well worth the effort.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, November 15th, 2012 by R. P. Sharpe in JOY POTENTIAL

“Every day, people awaken to what brings them joy and many don’t even see it coming. Sometimes it is a tragic event that shakes someone to the core. They then recognize the importance and fleeting nature of life – and with that comes a deep appreciation of living life to its fullest. Some people slowly come to realize what brings them joy. There are even some people who discover what they want by doing everything they do not want, a process of elimination of sorts. Then sadly there are those who choose not to look at joy at all and go to the grave missing the opportunity of life.

I know my view may seem pie in the sky, but it isn’t. From where I sit, I see it happen all the time. The difference between those that have joy and those that don’t, is belief in the possibility. Joy is celebrating the daily examples of happiness such as the innocent remarks of a child, or the kindness of a friend or stranger.”

“Optimism does not mean that you feel happy every minute of the day. It doesn’t mean that you’re always upbeat and in a good mood. You are not even required to keep your fingers crossed so that all your problems will disappear and your glassy-eyed, smiley-faced joy will return. That’s not it, and it’s a good thing because most of us wouldn’t be able to buy in to this rosy-cheeked cheerfulness.

But optimism is doable. It is real and it can be a difference-maker in your life if you stay
grounded and realistic. Grounded optimism is about attitude and action and like so many of the other strategies that manage the flow of negative emotion, it helps you feel better. It helps people bounce back from adversity and it is one component of resilience. Doctors, like positive psychology guru Martin Seligman, rank optimism right up there in line next to exercise and good nutrition when it comes to good-health building behaviors.”

“The concept of soul mates originated in the Biblical account of creation of the first people. According to the Biblical story, God indicated to Adam that in as much as it wouldn’t be good for him to be lonely, he could use a “help, as if an opposite to him.” Many Bibles mis-translate this entire phrase as “soul mate.” The original is quite intriguing: These two people would be able to help one another by being opposites. In that way, one would bolster the other person’s weaknesses. Together, they would get the job done that they were put here to do. They would be the perfect team.”
