PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012 by Laura Alden Kamm in INTUITIVE WELLNESS

“Here is a simple way to release mind chatter. You can do this practice alone or with a partner. Take ten minutes out of your day and sit and just let your thoughts roll from your mind and out of your mouth. Whatever thought comes to your mind, speak it. Let the thought that sits behind or connects to the previous thought rise up and be spoken also. One after another the thoughts will come rolling off your tongue. It doesn’t matter if they seem connected or not; just let them roll – no judgment, no self-counseling (if you are doing this by yourself), no fixing, or stopping – just let go of your thoughts.

The power of release comes in the vocalization of the thoughts, so speak them boldly. Lift up your voice, intone, and release your emotions. Let your thoughts and voice join to let go of the chattering that fills your mind. After this practice, you’ll feel relieved and refreshed. Do it regularly to avoid mental buildup.”

“For over two thousand years, Christians have seen Jesus through the eyes of the gospel writers, believing they were disciples of Jesus and eyewitnesses to the events they described. Many may be surprised, as I was, to learn this is not the case. Nearly all modern biblical scholars agree the gospels were written several decades after Jesus’ death by unknown authors, none of which knew Jesus personally or were present at any of the events they described. Not only is this evidenced by the number of discrepancies in the various accounts, but even the author of Luke writes the information he recorded was “handed on” to him (Luke 1:2).

Furthermore, following tradition, the writers did not write historical facts; they wrote stories about Jesus – much as a fiction author would do today – based on hearsay that spread after his death. They even copied content from other manuscripts that were in circulation. In other words, the gospels were created from received information, filtered and modified by imaginative writers.

According to E.P. Sanders and others, the goal was not to provide a biography of Jesus, but rather to express and reinforce a faith-based perspective of this man who walked the dusty roads of Palestine. As C.H. Dodd puts it, each gospel was “a report of certain happenings, together with, and inseparably interwoven with, an interpretation of these happenings.” Yet centuries of Christians have taken these accounts at face value and experienced little difficulty in explaining away inconsistencies.”

“The past only has an impact on the present when you continue to waste your powerful thought and feeling energies on something that no longer exists at all, other than in your own mind. Whatever it was that happened is finished now, and no matter how uncomfortable it was for you, you need to come to the understanding that at some level you chose it, and that it helped to build your character and make you a stronger individual.

Whenever you do find yourself wondering why something turned out the way it did, I suggest calling to mind the old adage that often times “God does work in mysterious ways.” The truth is, you really don’t know the “big picture.” So, even though you might be inclined to feel sad about a certain event in your past, make the decision to accept the realization that there is a higher order to things, and that something good will eventually come of it.”

“A vast amount of human beings destroy precious moments throughout their lives due to unnecessary worry. The important thing to realize is the fact that worry does absolutely nothing productive for the past, present, or future. Why continue to do something over and over again that is completely unproductive and actually quite unhealthy. Would you walk out of your house and begin digging a hole without a purpose or a reason for doing so? Continuing to dig and dig after blisters form on your hands and your energy is being depleted for no apparent reason? Hours, days, and months go by and you continue to dig with no productive or logical reasoning. Hopefully, you would not do this, so why do you continue to worry?”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, September 26th, 2012 by Rev. Christian Sorenson in GRATITUDE, A WAY OF LIFE BY LOUISE HAY AND FRIENDS

“Life is an abundant broadcasting system, just waiting for us to tune in to its infinite varieties. As we turn our attention to the positive side through praise and appreciation, we bring ourselves into harmony with this giving frequency. There seems to be a magnetic force that draws our awareness to the ever-present and expanding good.

It’s as if our conscious and subconscious work diligently to attract only those experiences that support our state of mind. Looking through the eyes of gratitude, we become a channel to bring forth more things to be grateful for. We are told to “be thankful for all things.” This includes bow ties, our body, and our daily breath. It’s easy to be grateful for the grand things in life, but to be appreciative for “all things” puts you in a powerful, harmonious place.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, September 25th, 2012 by Gary Spinell in IT WAS YOU, ALL ALONG

“Many people make no attempt to move forward, thinking, “But what if I try and fail?” or “What if I try and end up losing everything?” Remember, you create it all of it. When you believe you have the power to create your world, and that creative power cannot be turned on and off but something you do with every breath, you will embrace knowing you create EVERYTHING in your world.

Success is rarely, if ever, accomplished in one attempt. Have you ever watched an infant attempt to take his/her first steps? She will pull herself up against something, holding on tightly to the sofa or chair, only to fall back down again. Does the child give up after a few tries? Stop and strongly consider that if we all gave up after a few tries, none of us would be walking and running today! This is no small accomplishment for the baby. In her world learning to walk is similar to us to obtaining as large of goal we can imagine.

The infant is relentless in her attempts and does not quit. Instead the infant – even one so young – figures out what went wrong, makes adjustments and tries again. Nowhere in the infant’s head is the idea of failure. At no time does the child consider she will never walk, how she will be viewed if she cannot walk, and how she will view herself if she cannot walk. None of these thoughts enter her mind. Only adults have these thoughts when approaching new goals.”

“Compassion is helping people understand what they are learning and empowering them to see the gifts in what they are experiencing. It is watching others go through their lessons the way they have chosen to experience them, knowing that though they may be suffering at the personality level, their suffering will help them give birth to a new, stronger self. Assist them by focusing on all the gifts their problems are offering them, such as teaching them about self-love, compassion, patience, inner strength, and other positive qualities.”

“Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves…Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps, then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, September 21st, 2012 by Jeff Maziarek in SPIRITUALITY SIMPLIFIED

“Remember that every cause you initiate leads to an effect. So, when you give from the heart, you set energy into motion that must in turn find its way back to you in some form. I say in some form, because there is no telling how or when the effect may show up.

For example, let’s say you donate a sum of money to a cause that has inspired you in some way; this does not necessarily mean that you will receive the same amount or more in return. The positive energy you extended may instead come back to you as a new business or career opportunity that appears seemingly out of nowhere, or it may manifest for you as improved or continued good health, or as a breakthrough in a troubled relationship, etc.

Now you might say that this is not always true, as there are many instances in which people give but do not seem to receive anything positive in return. In some cases this may appear to be an accurate appraisal. However, more often than not, if you were able to look deeper into the motivation behind the giving, you would probably discover that their intent wasn’t quite as pure as one may have originally thought.

Specifically, when the giving is done with the objective of receiving something in return, or because the person feels like they have no other choice but to give, then the underlying motivation behind it is rooted in scarcity. Since the Universe always knows what our real intentions are (i.e., our true feelings), it is not surprising then that people who give from this frame of mind do not receive anything in return.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, September 20th, 2012 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in YOUR SACRED SELF

“To understand the concept of surrendering, you will not be able to rely on your ego. Ego never wants you to even consider surrendering. It would much rather you hang on to the belief that you must strive and cling to the familiar way. The more you stay with what you are accustomed to, the more you will hang on to the worries and stress that are of the physical world. This constant frenetic behavior keeps you occupied and unable to make the connection to the world of spirit and your sacred quest.

The notion of being attached to what happened to you in the past can be very deeply ingrained in you by your false self. You must learn to recognize ego’s attachment to the past when it uses this to keep you stuck in striving. Surrender the belief that your past is what is driving your present.”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, September 19th, 2012 by Annemarie Greenwood and Marissa Campbell in LIFE: LIVING IN FULFILLMENT EVERY DAY

“Expectations are just labels we project into the future and they are…a recipe for disaster. When we tell ourselves, ‘Oh, it will be so good if this happens,’ the consequence of this type of thinking is that if it doesn’t happen, we will not feel good. And if it does happen, wonderful! We’ll be happy for a moment, until, of course, the next time life doesn’t live up to our expectations. Our expectations have us riding on the outside rime of the wheel, just reacting to life. When it’s good, we are up; when it’s bad, we are down. It’s as simple as that.

In order to find lasting happiness and fulfillment, we need to get off that crazy ride. We need to let go of expectations. When we can truly accept that concept, thereby releasing our need to control everyone and everything, we are finally able to relax and find some peace! What an awful lot of effort and energy it has taken all these years to try to control our lives. Let it go. See what happens. Have fun and just roll with it.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, September 18th, 2012 by Stuart Wilde in SIXTH SENSE

“If you are aiming for a distant goal and you want to direct your imagination to that, start by feeling yourself present at that future point in time. Enter into those circumstances – act them out. Allow your imagination to wander through the scene, so to speak, becoming a part of it. Enliven the picture and make it more real by imagining all your five senses present in those future circumstances. Grant the picture a sensuality that it would have if you were actually there, so give it its colors and sounds; and imagine the smell, texture, and tasted of those future circumstances. Then come back from that future place. Focus your inner vision and intellect on seeing yourself progress through the steps it might take to get you from here, today, to over there, tomorrow.

Act out the steps in your mind’s eye, and see yourself moving toward your goal through the intervening steps. You pull goals to you through concentration, while simultaneously moving toward them through concerted action. Remember, I’ve said many times before in my books that yearning for things pushes them away form you. In the emotion of yearning, you affirm that you don’t have the thing you’re yearning for. You set up an uncomfortable energy that others often have to climb over. When you really need something and you’re emotional about it,  people tend to deny you, just because you need it.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, September 17th, 2012 by Deepak Chopra in HOW TO KNOW GOD

“What’s the one thing you can do today to grow in Spirit? Stop defining yourself. Don’t accept any thought that begins “I am this or that.” You are not this or that. You are beyond definition, and therefore any attempt to say “I am X” is wrong. You are in passage. You are in the process of redefining yourself every day. Aid that process, and you cannot help but leap forward on the path.

If you take a clear look at yourself, you will find that your mind is more like a swarm of bees than like an arrow shooting straight for the goal. A swarm of bees can travel from point A to point B, just like an arrow, but it does so in a vague, swirling, fuzzy way. Thus we hold in our minds all kinds of shifting attitudes, many of which contradict each other. Our love is bound up with hatred, our trust with suspicion, our altruism with selfishness. Because this is so, the only clear path to God is a path of constant self-awareness. You must see through your own mask if you want to take it off.”

“When you stop and think about it, the fact is that the vast majority of us have much for which to be thankful – we just tend to be oblivious to it. For example, most people never give a second thought to the myriad of activities that are occurring within their bodies every second they are alive. Additionally, those of us living in first-world countries rarely, if ever, feel grateful for such things as electricity, indoor plumbing, relatively safe drinking water, and much, much more. Instead, most of us tend to focus on what is missing in our lives, and ignore all of the blessings we already have. In the United States especially, people take so much for granted. This is truly amazing; in view of the fact that even our nation’s poorest people have a higher standard of living than most of the population in developing countries.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, September 13th, 2012 by Neale Donald Walsch in FRIENDSHIP WITH GOD

“You are made in the image and likeness of God. Now this you have always understood, for this, too, you have been taught. Yet you are mistaken about what My image and likeness is. Thus have you been mistaken about what your image and likeness can be. You imagine that I am a God who has needs – among them, the need to have you love Me. (Now, some of your churches have sought to describe this as not having a need for your love, but merely a desire for it. It is simply, they say, My desire that you love Me, but I will never force you to. Yet is a “desire” not a “need” if I am willing to torture you for all eternity if I don’t get it? What kind of a desire is that?)

And so, being made in My image and likeness, you have called it normal to experience the same kind of desire. Thus you have created your fatal attractions. But now I am telling you that I have no needs. All that I am within My Self is all that I require in order to express all that I am outside of My Self. This is the true nature of God. This is the image and likeness in which you are made. Do you understand the wonder of that? Do you see its implications?

You, too, are without needs. There is nothing that you need in order to be perfectly happy. You only think that there is. Your deepest, most perfect happiness will be found within, and once you find it, nothing exterior to your Self can match it, nor can anything destroy it.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, September 12th, 2012 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in YOU’LL SEE IT WHEN YOU BELIEVE IT

“When we operate from the principle of scarcity, we generally believe, “If only I had something else, THEN I would have a lock on happiness and success.” A close look at this logic shows that what we are really saying is: “I am not complete right now. In some way I lack what I need. When I get that I will be complete.” If that is our belief, then we are relying on a disabled, incomplete person.

This kind of scarcity thinking assumes that we are not yet complete, happy, loving, total human beings, that we do not already have the missing pieces in abundance within ourselves. Thus we operate from a thinking process of deficiency, and end up trapped in the belief that “I’ve got to have more before I can be happy.” This is the very thing that keeps us from tuning in to the abundance that is everywhere.

You are it already. You already possess exactly what you need for happiness, success, fulfillment, and all of the lofty general goals that so many of us aspire. If our basic needs are met, and we have food, water, and air, then we have within us the ability to be blissfully happy. As Gandhi said, “God comes to the hungry in the form of food.”
