BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011 by Sanaya Roman in PERSONAL POWER THROUGH AWARENESS

“All of you have pictures of what it would mean to love yourself more. For some of you it might mean a better job, or the resolution of a problem. If you want more self-love, the first challenge is to see if you can evolve your pictures of self-love. Everything you thought of as loving to yourself two years ago, you most probably have right now. Yet somehow when you got it you did not feel as loved as you expected. Look at what you want right now and ask, “What is the essence behind it?” If you want, for instance, a new place to live, what is the essence behind it? What do you really want? It may be peace and quiet, or more sunlight. You can get all those things in different ways, right now.”

PONDER on THIS for Monday, February 21st, 2011 by Fr. Anthony De Mello in ANTHONY DE MELLO: WRITINGS

“If you want to reform your heart, you must give serious, prolonged thought to four liberating truths. But first choose some attachment that troubles you, something that you are clinging to, or something that you dread, or something you are craving for, and keep this attachment in mind as you listen to these truths.

The first truth: You must choose between your attachment and happiness. You cannot have both. The moment you pick up an attachment, your heart is thrown out of kilter and your ability to lead a joyful, carefree, serene life is destroyed…

The second truth: Where did your attachment come from? You were not born with it. It sprang from a lie that your society and your culture have told you, or a lie that you have told yourself, namely, that without this or the other, without this person or the other you can’t be happy. Just open your eyes and see how false this is…

The third truth: If you wish to be fully alive you must develop a sense of perspective. Life is infinitely greater than this trifle your heart is attached to, and which you have given the power to so upset you. Trifle, yes, because if you live long enough a day will easily come when it will cease to matter…

And so the fourth truth brings you to the unavoidable conclusion that no thing or person outside of you has the power to make you happy or unhappy.”

PONDER on THIS for Friday, February 18th, 2011 by Eckhart Tolle in A NEW EARTH

“To become free of the ego is not really a big job but a very small one. All you need to do is be aware of your thoughts and emotions – as they happen. This is not really a “doing,” but an alert “seeing.” In that sense, it is true that there is nothing you can do to become free of the ego. When that shift happens, which is the shift from thinking to awareness, an intelligence far greater than the ego’s cleverness begins to operate in your life. Emotions and even thoughts become depersonalized through awareness. Their impersonal nature is recognized. There is no longer a self in them. They are just human emotions, human thoughts.

Your entire personal history, which is ultimately no more than a story, a bundle of thoughts and emotions, becomes of secondary importance and no longer occupies the forefront of your consciousness. It no longer forms the basis for your sense of identity. You are the light of Presence, the awareness that is prior to and deeper than any thoughts or emotions.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, February 17th, 2011 by Dr. Stephen Russell in BAREFOOT DOCTOR’S GUIDE TO THE TAO

“Your system will function adequately on four hours’ sleep a day, with correct mental programming; however, this may deplete your adrenaline levels after a while. Seven hours a night is enough to get your dreaming and self-healing done and, if commenced before the witching hour, twelve midnight, will be more potent.

Sleep-time is when your body regenerates itself and your energy is renewed. Sleep whenever you like, if possible, but do most of it in one hit. As well as healing your body, sleep heals your mind, outlook, alertness, attitude and mood. Your spirit receives information, often premonitory in nature, while you dream. This information can be accessed by writing your dreams down as soon as you wake up (this becomes easier in time)…

Sleep on your right side, coiled up like a dragon, so that the blood can spend the night in your liver, being washed, and away from your heart. Excess blood in your heart during sleep-time will give you crazy or alarming dreams.”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, February 16th, 2011 by Don Miguel Ruiz and Don Jose Ruiz in THE FIFTH AGREEMENT

“As children, we invest our faith in almost everything that we learn, and this is how we lose power over our own lives. By the time we grow up, our faith is already invested in so many lies that we hardly have any power left to create the dream that we want to create. The belief system has all the power of our faith, and by the end of the equation we remain with almost zero faith, zero power.

And it’s easy to see how we invest our faith in a symbol like Santa Claus, but it’s not easy to see how we do the very same thing with every symbol, every story, and every opinion that we learn about ourselves, about everything…When we find out that Santa Claus isn’t the truth, we no longer believe in Santa Claus, and the power we invested in that symbol returns to us. This is when we become aware that we are the one who agreed to believe in Santa Claus. When we recover our awareness, we can see that we are the one who agreed to believe in the entire symbology. And if we are the one who put the power of our faith in every symbol, then we are the only one who can take that power back.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, February 15th, 2011 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in REAL MAGIC

“If you elect to constantly tell the world what is missing in your life, and how you can never get ahead, it is because you are in possession of an inner space that believes strongly in lacks. Those thoughts of scarcity include hardship, losing, difficulty and so on. These may be the topics that you find yourself discussing and the ways in which you present yourself over and over to everyone that you meet.

You can replace those inner slogans that have come to be the logos of your life with new thoughts that include abundance, plenty, bountifulness, profit, ease, sustenance and the like. When you see these thoughts as the way your universe is, and process your world in these ways, the words and concepts will be your way of presenting yourself…

You must begin to catch yourself when you are thinking in ways that subvert your own prosperity. You must monitor yourself all day long, and be sure to catch each and every thought that involves a scarcity consciousness.”

PONDER on THIS for Friday, February 11th, 2011 by John St. Augustine in LIVING AN UNCOMMON LIFE

“Just about every corner of our society has a component of trust; conversely, a large number of people claim to have “trust issues.” Maybe if we looked at a few places where we have to trust ourselves and others (and may not even know it), we could see trust in a different light. For instance, when you are driving, the only thing that keeps traffic apart is a yellow line of paint – and we trust that everyone else on the road took the same driver’s education course as we did!

If you have ever visited a pharmacy, you are trusting that the pharmacist knows what he or she is doing. Same goes for doctors, dentists, and therapists. Ever had your vehicle repaired? How about when you put your money in the bank? When you send your kids to school, you have to trust the system to educate them. The post office is nothing more than trust in motion. The list of opportunities for us to trust on a daily basis is almost endless, but it’s a two-way street. Be someone whom others can trust. The payoff will be enormous.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, February 10th, 2011 by Alan Cohen in RELAX INTO WEALTH

“Because we are spiritual beings, it is the spirit of what we do that determines how much fulfillment we derive. You can be going through all the motions and doing all the appropriate and expected actions, but if you are empty or absent inside, your deeds mean little. Only soul satisfaction can fulfill you; everything else will leave you hungry. Spiritual teacher Paramahansa Yogananda noted: “Manners without sincerity are like a beautiful but dead woman.” Essence is more important than appearance.

When evaluating what someone is offering or giving you, or what you are offering, appraise it by the investment of spirit rather than material. An inexpensive, personally crafted gift from the heart can mean much more than an expensive jewel. Ask any mother how much she appreciates the drawing her little child made for her, and she will tell you it is priceless. The real jewel of life is your presence. Deliver that, and you will enrich everyone you touch, beginning with yourself.”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, February 9th, 2011 by SARK in GLAD NO MATTER WHAT

“Dreams do not get lost. They will wait forever and are very resilient. I experienced this directly when my biggest dream at 10 years old, of being “A beacon of hope and writing books for the world,” didn’t physically manifest until 25 years later at age 35, after years of self-destructive behavior and wild living.

Every morsel of everything I experienced in those years between 10 and 35 has been, or is being, utilized by my dreams today. Nothing was lost, wasted, or broken in the process, even though the inner critics will tell you it was. Inner critics are not right! Don’t listen to them. Give them new jobs to do.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, February 8th, 2011 by Rhonda Byrne in THE SECRET

“Remember that your thoughts are the primary cause of everything. So when you think a sustained thought it is immediately sent out into the Universe. That thought magnetically attaches itself to the like frequency, and then within seconds sends the reading of that frequency back to you through your feelings. Put another way, you feelings are communication back to you from the Universe, telling you what frequency you are currently on. Your feelings are your frequency feedback mechanism!

When you are feeling good feelings, it is communication back from the Universe saying, “You are thinking good thoughts.” Likewise, when you are feeling bad, you are receiving communication back from the Universe saying, “You are thinking bad thoughts.”

So when you are feeling bad it is communication from the Universe, and in effect it is saying, “Warning! Change thinking now. Negative frequency recording. Change frequency. Counting down to manifestation. Warning!”.”

“To change the world is to change yourself. Others are unable to give you the peace that you long for. It must come from within you. First, you must find the love within you – it is there. You might have to uncover it by removing the fears, doubts, and guilt of old thought patterns to see the beauty that lies beyond. When you stand in the radiance of that love, with shoulders no longer bent, raise your head to see the beauty around you; see the divine creation in all that your eyes behold; the water glass half full and filling to overflowing in an abundance of love; see the master that you are. See the world in the process of change, with the opportunity to manifest your new world according to your heart’s desires.”

PONDER on THIS for Friday, February 4th, 2011 by Dr. Joseph Murphy in THE AMAZING LAWS OF COSMIC MIND POWER

“Have you noticed the effect of fear upon your face, eyes, heart, and other organs? You know the effect on your digestive tract of bad news or grief. Observe the change that takes place when it s found that the bad news is groundless. All negative emotions are destructive and depress the vital forces of the body. A chronic worrier usually has trouble with digestion. If something pleasant occurs in his experience, his digestion becomes normal, because normal circulation is restored and the necessary gastric secretions are no longer interfered with.

The way to overcome and discipline your emotions is not through repression or suppression. When you repress and emotion, the energy accumulates in your subconscious mind and remains snarled there…There is a spiritual and psychological way to follow in banishing the repressed or suppressed emotions inhabiting the gloomy gallery of your mind. The ideal way to rid yourself of these emotions is to practice the law of substitution…you substitute a positive, constructive thought for a negative thought.”

“Get in touch with yourself for a few seconds, become aware of your presence wherever you may be, and become aware of the kind of thoughts that are going on within you.

Now, think of somebody you’re living with or working with whom you do not like—who causes negative feelings to arise within you. Now let’s help you understand that. To understand what’s going on—first understand that the negative feeling is within you. What you understand will change.

You are responsible for the negative feeling. Not the other person. Somebody else in your place would be perfectly calm and at easy, in the presence of this person. Can you get in touch with that? Now say to this person “I have no right to make any demand on you.” As you say that you drop your expectation—”I have no right to make any demand on you.”

I’ll protect myself from the consequences of your actions, moods, or whatever-but you can go on right ahead and be what you choose to be!  See what happens when you do this—and if there’s a resistance to saying that—my, how much you’ll discover about yourself.

Let the dictator come out, the tyrant too! You thought you were such a little lamb did you. I’m a tyrant—I want to run your life. I want you be what I expect you to be. Expect you to behave the way I want you to behave—and you better behave that way or else. Or I shall punish myself by having negative feelings. That sounds so wise, doesn’t it?”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011 by Stuart Wilde in SIXTH SENSE

“Part of the art of developing the spiritual self, and inner knowing, is having the courage to know what it is that you do believe. You don’t have to have the path laid out for your, tick-tock all the way for the next 50 years. You must have to know that you have the strength to go to the next step, and that you have the courage to follow through and hang in there. Of course, once you embark on the journey, more often than not there is no turning back. As your consciousness grows, you become exhilarated by the flow of the God Force in your life. With every little burst of energy comes new perceptions and original creativity, and there’s no way you’re going back to the old ways.

The problem is, people tend to follow along for a while, then they come up against a boundary – the boundary of their knowledge or the boundary of what they feel as a social being. Or, perhaps they don’t feel they’re entitled to more. They may feel inadequate because they come from a very humble social background. Maybe they don’t speak the language of success, so they feel inferior. Don’t let these hangups hold you back. Hop over them and push against your comfort zones. It’s easy enough to do.”
