PONDER on THIS for Monday, December 20th, 2010 by Richard A. Singer, Jr. in YOUR DAILY WALK WITH THE GREAT MINDS

“Obsession with money appears to preside over everyone and everything around us. Of course it’s needed, however, to hoard it or center your whole life around making it, saving it, and spending it is a great disgrace to this Universe. If you are not making a difference, what are you here for? Your essential source has a higher plan for you rather than revolving around monetary rewards and material possessions, it is wholly up to you to discover this plan and begin revealing it in your life. If you desire temporary pleasure and an illusory sense of control, continue developing your monetary foundation in life, if you choose genuine happiness, peace, and true success, begin making a difference in the world today.”

PONDER on THIS for Friday, December 17th, 2010 by Jerry and Ester Hicks in GETTING INTO THE VORTEX

“If you have the developed the pattern of working hard to keep those around you happy, then when they are not happy, when they are presenting anger to you, you may feel that their anger has something to do with your behavior. They often work hard to make you believe that you are the primary reason for their problem, but you have undoubtedly discovered that the more you attempt to modify your behavior to keep others happy, the more modification of your behavior they seem to require. Again, an impossible and futile endeavor.

When you demonstrate your consistent state of happiness that you are achieving by  being aware of your Vortex and holding thoughts that allow your frequent entrance into it (and, even more important, you do not modify your behavior to try to soothe or solve the problems of others), you will offer them – through the power of your example – the secret to their own true happiness. Being happy is a very personal thing – and it really has nothing to do with anyone else.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, December 16th 2010 by Thich Nhat Hanh, in PEACE IS EVERY STEP

“We often ask, “What’s wrong?” Doing so, we invite painful seeds of sorrow to come up and manifest. We feel suffering, anger, and depression, and produce more such seeds. We would be much happier if we tried to stay in touch with the healthy, joyful seeds inside of us and around us. We should learn to ask, “What’s not wrong?” and be in touch with that. There are so many elements in the world and within our bodies, feelings, perceptions, and consciousness that are wholesome, refreshing, and healing. If we block ourselves, if we stay in the prison of our sorrow, we will not be in touch with these healing elements.

Life is filled with many wonders, like the blue sky, the sunshine, the eyes of a baby. Our breathing, for example, can be very enjoyable. I enjoy breathing every day. But many people appreciate the joy of breathing only when they have asthma or a stuffed-up nose. We don’t need to wait until we have asthma to enjoy our breathing. Awareness of the precious elements of happiness is itself the practice of right mindfulness.”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, December 15th, 2010 by Marc Allen in THE GREATEST SECRECT OF ALL

“The truth is, all the practices and techniques that we’ve heard about over the years work: affirmations, prayers, declarations, positive thinking, creative visualization, self-actualization, self-realization, whatever you want to call it. They all work because every thought we have is a powerful creative force.

The only problem is our doubts and fears can be powerful creative forces in our lives as well, if we let them. I’m sure the process works like this: We affirm, I am now creating success, doing what I love to do, in an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way. And the Universe – or our subconscious mind, or whatever you want to call it – says Yes! And it goes about showing us just how to manifest our dreams, revealing to us exactly the steps we need to take.

But then, our next thought is, Oh, but it’s so hard to succeed. So few people are really doing what they love to do…, then the Universe says, Yes, it’s true – it’s very hard for you, with those thoughts. Look at how hard it is. In fact, it’s getting worse all the time.

Every thought we have, for good or ill, is creative. As soon as we focus as much or more on our dreams as we focus on our doubts and fears – through a process that will always remain mysterious – begin to be realized one step at a time.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, December 14th, 2010 by Jeff Maziarek in SPIRITUALITY SIMPLIFIED

“It takes considerable energy to cling to things, and equally as important: by being attached we serve to limit the flow of universal energy into our lives. In that regard, consider this insightful and very amusing quotation from Stuart Wilde:

“The more you defend your stuff through the emotion of “mine,” the more lack you’ll have, and the more you cut yourself off from the Infinite Self within. Everything you have is in the care of the God Force. If you come home and the stereo is missing, you can say, “Ah, they’ve come for the stereo,” rather than getting uptight. It’s just gone back to the God Force. Somebody else has it now.”

While the previous passage has a humorous nature, it really is quite true in my view. Once an item of yours is taken from you, what else can you do but accept it? Getting all bothered about it does not in any way change what happened. This is not to suggest that thieves should not be held responsible for their choices. Rather, it means that those who were victimized need to first reframe the event (e.g., as a lesson learned), and then move into the present moment to identify the appropriate solution (i.e., file a police report, purchase a new stereo, or both).

If you are sincerely able to embrace this perspective, you will eventually reach the point where you no longer allow yourself to become rigidly attached to any material item. The end result will be a feeling of immense weight being removed from your shoulders, as the emotional and physical energy that you invest in hanging on to your stuff literally weighs you down. Most importantly, as you begin to develop the ability to be non-attached and let things flow from your life without resistance, you simultaneously crack open the door for new items to flow into your life.”

PONDER on THIS for Friday, December 10th, 2010 by Eckhart Tolle in A NEW EARTH

“The ego identifies with having, but its satisfaction in having is a relatively shallow and short-lived one. Concealed within it remains a deep-seated sense of dissatisfaction, of incompleteness, of “not enough.” “I don’t have enough yet,” by which the ego really means, “I am not enough yet.”…Having – the concept of ownership – is a fiction created by the ego to give itself solidity and permanency and make itself stand out, make itself special.

Since you cannot find yourself through having, however, there is another more powerful drive underneath it that pertains to the structure of the ego: the need for more, which we could also call “wanting.” No ego can last for long without the need for more. Therefore, wanting keeps the ego alive much more than having. The ego wants to want more than it wants to have. And so the shallow satisfaction of having is always replaced by more wanting. This is the psychological need for more, that is to say, more things to identify with. It is an addictive need, not an authentic one.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, December 9th, 2010 by Marianne Williamson, in THE GIFT OF CHANGE

“When we accept ourselves exactly as we are, and where we are, we have more energy to give to life. We are not wasting our time trying to make things different. Any moment that we relax into the deeper ground of our being, giving up all struggle to be anywhere else, we’re in exactly the right place at exactly the right time. There is a plan for our lives—God’s plan—and it oversees where we are and where we need to be going. As soon as we have learned to live most brightly in our present conditions, new and better ones will arrive immediately. But until we learn the lessons of the present, they will simply reappear in new guises, and it will seem as if nothing changes.

It’s not up to us what we learn, only whether we learn through joy or through pain. But if we don’t yet trust that every situation is a lesson, we don’t bother to ask ourselves what the lesson is. And unless we do, our chances of learning it are nil. Then the lesson will reappear—with ever higher stakes—until we learn it. We may as well learn it the first time, when the chance to learn through joy is still available. The more times a lesson has to come around, the more pain it will generate. If you know in your heart that something is wrong, then ignoring it won’t make it any less so. It will simply make fixing it even harder, when it is brought about by a louder noise than the original sound of God’s whisper in your ear.”

“There are many people approaching life from the flawed premise that if they work hard and struggle long and pay a big enough price, they will then be rewarded with financial well-being. And since they do not realize that in their struggle they are denying themselves alignment with the abundance they seek, when the abundance does not come, they attribute it to luck or favoritism that is being directed away from them and toward one another.

But there is no luck or favoritism. There is only allowing or resisting, allowing or denying, letting in or keeping out the abundance that you deserve.

When you see evidence of shortage and you attribute it to action or intention or power that is outside of you, then your only course of action is to try to win favor from whoever holds the power. But since this power is not being held by someone outside of you, looking for it there will not bring you positive results.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, December 7th, 2010 by Dr. Tianna Conte in LOVES FIRE – BEYOND MORTAL BOUNDARIES

“Birth and death are the same. One is celebrated and one is feared. One is celebrated because it is known; one is feared because it is unknown…but both are about essence. One is essence taking on form and the other is essence leaving form behind, returning to Oneness. But both are the same.

The period of time between what is birth and what is death is called life. It is about experiences, experiencing many things, unfolding the truth of one’s nature, of expanding awareness of who you really are and the gifts you bring…discovering that love is a frequency, not an emotion. Only love is real. All else is appearance, a part of the illusion created by the senses, and the illusion of separation. Each person is in physical form to give and receive love, and so therefore expanding the truth of one’s being.

There are two portals through which the ego/personality can surrender its control from the filter of fear and access the Infinite. These are through experiences of agony and experiences of ecstasy, both of which force the ego to surrender so that the illusion of control is released. When agony and ecstasy are contained in the same experience and happen simultaneously, the topography of consciousness is forever changed. It’s in that moment that reality shifts, and life is never perceived the same.”

The more we learn to operate in the world based on trust in our intuition, the stronger our channel will be and the more money we will have. The money in our life is based on our ability to listen to our inner guidance and risk acting on it. When your ego stops trying to control and you learn how to listen to the universe and act on it, then money increasingly comes into life. It flows in an easy, effortless, and joyful way because there is no sacrifice involved. You’re no longer attached to it. Instead you can experience the joy of learning how to follow the energy of the universe. Money is just an extra bonus in the process.

You know that the money is not really yours – it belongs to the universe. You are like a caretaker or steward for the money. You use it only as you are directed by the universe through your own intuition. There is no fear of loss because you know you are always taken care of. The money may come or go, but you can’t lose the joy and fulfillment in your life. When you feel this secure and free, you attract more and more money, so that you are continually pushed to deepen your trust at more intense levels with higher stakes.”

PONDER on THIS for Friday, December 3rd, 2010 by Tara Singh in NOTHING REAL CAN BE THREATENED

“Truth is accessible where there is attention. Attention is absolutely essential. When thought interferes, we begin to doubt and problems begin. Doubt brings confusion, lack of direction, and fear. It isolates us and we forget who we are. Then we think we are bodies and the external world of fear, selfishness, and insecurity becomes very real to us.

The origin of the world we see – a world that is brutal, tyrannical, and devoid of love – is doubt. If we had trust, there would be no such problem at all. But trust is a difficult thing. Can we see, then, that the issue is a matter of choice between trust and doubt? It can be that simple. And you and I must make the decision in our lives to be with doubt or with trust.

If you are with trust, the illusions of doubt no longer have sway over you. If you are with doubt, that is your reality and you will settle for belief in flags, nationalities, and religious dogmas. For the person who chooses doubt, fear becomes the basis of his life.”

“If you love yourself for who you are, you are living in present time which is the gateway to personal power. If you love only who you will be, then you are out of your body, living in a future you cannot affect (until it becomes present time and you can act). Look at who you are, compare it to who you want to be, and ask yourself why they do not match. Ask, “Is what I want to be really appropriate to who I am, or is it something I was told I should be?”

The more you can clear yourself of other peoples’ programs, expectations, and pictures of you, the more powerful you will become. Many of those future pictures involve meeting unrealistic or inappropriate standards given to you by others. Many of those ideals represent beliefs of others that you try to fit onto yourself. Look clearly at your expectations of yourself, especially those you constantly fail to meet. They can be indicators of areas in which who you want to be is not fitting with your true needs. The pain you feel at the difference, the feelings of heaviness, fear or darkness only exist because you are trying to “wear” energy that does not belong to you.”

“What to do with change and losses…Practice allowing and transforming them. Remember that
healing and change happen in spirals and layers. See if you can open your heart and arms to whatever changes happen and losses occur. I sometimes tend to lay a template of the past onto the present and they feel upset when “Things are not the same.” Then I start comparing what used to be to what is not even known yet and forget to relax and just open myself to something different.

Life presents us with so many chances to practice, because it’s constantly changing. The opposite of loss is not gain it is…found.

What can you find within your losses? I recommend looking for the gifts first. They might not appear immediately. I’m often convinced that this time they’re just…Not there. This occurs to me in my mind. I’ve learned that my mind is an unreliable guide – by itself. It makes up stories and repeats fears and resistances. I’m practicing allowing my mind to have some initial input, and then following my body and emotions to decide what I actually do, or don’t do.”

“When you expect something, it is on the way. When you believe something, it is on the way. When you fear something, it is on the way.

Your attitude or mood is always pointing toward what is coming, but you are never stuck with your current point of attraction. Just because you have picked up these thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, and moods along your physical trail does not mean that you have to continue attracting in response to them. You have creative control of your own experience. And, by paying attention to your own Emotional Guidance System, you can change your point of attraction.

If there are things in your experience that you no longer wish to experience, your belief must change. If there are things that are not in your experience that you want to bring into your experience, your belief must change. There is no condition so severe that you cannot reverse it by choosing different thoughts. However, choosing different thoughts requires focus and practice. If you continue to focus as you have been, to think as you have been, and to believe as you have been, then nothing in your experience will change.”

“Here is a practice you might try. Close your eyes and feel an issue in your life that is upsetting to you, something that brings up strong feelings of frustration. It can be something close to you, in your household or your workplace, or it can be a conflict on a more global scale. Now imagine yourself in the place of each of the characters involved. If the situation involves several people with a variety of viewpoints, place yourself in the position of caring for each of them and respecting their viewpoints one at a time. Let go of your judgments of right and wrong, and allow yourself to feel through that individual’s eyes.

If the issue involves several groups of people with different perspectives, choose one person who represents each group, and stand in that person’s shoes, see the situation through that person’s eyes, and feel your heart care about that person’s experience of things. Do this exercise with each person or group involved in the conflict until you are able to see the issue from each of the different perspectives.
