PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, January 7th, 2014 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in YOUR SACRED SELF

“Simplify, simplify, simplify. I can’t repeat it enough. Examine carefully how much of your life energy is used in pursuit of what you don’t want or need. Practice one day at a time, the idea of saying no to more. A very emphatic, “No, I will not pursue that item.” In place of pursuing more-is-better, spend time playing with your son or granddaughter…Go for a long walk along the riverfront rather than spend time trying to get ahead.

As you release the energy you previously applied to pursuing more, you free yourself up inside to experience the joy of being rather than the drudgery of always doing. This is freedom, the ability to choose to be rather than to accumulate. You will discover, as you practice simplifying, that many items that you previously chased after, including money, will begin to show up in your life without pursuing them. This is one of the great ironies of life. Less is more!”

“Nothing will ever remove all mystery. But I believe at least part of the answer to these questions can be found in the Latin derivation of the very word “conscious,” con-scire, which literally means to “to know with.” What a strange derivation! To know with? To know with what? I suggest that the answer is to know with God. I have said that psychological disorders primarily have their root in consciousness rather than in our unconscious, that “nasty” material is contained in our unconscious only because our conscious mind refuses to deal with it.

If we can deal with this unpleasant stuff, then our unconscious mind offers an absolute garden of delights through we which we are connected to God. In other words, I believe that God reveals Herself to us through our unconscious if we are willing to be open to it, and become conscious of its wisdom.”

“When faced with situations that seem threatening or even tragic, our human tendency is to allow the flow of appearances to get us involved in a negative way.  But the solution to a problem is never to be found on the level of the problem. The only way out is up. Up…Up in consciousness, in thought and feeling, to the level where Spirit dwells, to the level of Divine Order.”

“Humor is one of the most effective coping skills you can take advantage in your life. To be able to laugh at life and yourself is a gift that can make your journey much more satisfying and allow you to experience life in a relaxed and less grim manner. It is often said that it takes many more muscles in your face to frown than it does to smile. Lighten up and remember that you are an infinite being, therefore, you have eternity to do whatever it is you believe is such a crisis or emergency in your life. Begin to laugh at yourself and the challenges that the Universe places before you. Life really isn’t that serious, so stop making it appear that way and have a little fun.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, December 30th, 2013 by Richard & Mary Alice Jafolla in THE QUEST

“There is a wonderful story about a wise teacher of truth who was walking through the woods with his students when they came upon the partially decomposed carcass of a dead deer. The students, in an attempt to protect their teacher from seeing such a repulsive sight, tried to steer him around it. But the teacher would not alter his direction. When he came upon the deer, he looked it over carefully and said, “My, what beautiful antlers.”

He chose to look past the obvious and express the beautiful. He didn’t dwell on the decomposed flesh but rather on the noble antlers, so his words were not of repulsion but of loveliness. We can do the same with our lives. Certainly we can find enough ugliness around us if we care to look for it, but there is also an abundance of beauty. Which do you want in your world?”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, December 27th, 2013 by Neale Donald Walsch in CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD BOOK 1

“The word “renunciate” holds such wrongful meaning. In truth, you cannot renounce anything – because what you resist persists. The true renunciate does not renounce, but simply chooses differently. This is an act of moving toward something, not away from something.

You cannot move away from something, because it will chase you all over hell and back. Therefore resist not temptation – but simply turn from it. Turn toward Me and from anything unlike Me. Yet know this: there is no such thing as an incorrect path – for on this journey you cannot “not get” where you are going.

It is simply a matter of speed – merely a question of when you will get there – yet even that is an illusion, for there is no “when,” neither is there a “before” or “after.” There is only NOW; an eternal moment of always in which you are experiencing yourself.”

God, as spoken to Neale Donald Walsch, in “Conversations with God Book 1”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, December 26th, 2013 by Wayne W. Dyer in THERE’S A SPIRITUAL SOLUTION TO EVERY PROBLEM

“One of the great teachers in my life, Nisargadatta Maharaj, once said, “As long as you identify yourself with the body-mind, you are vulnerable to sorrow and suffering.” My conclusion from this is that we must learn to be a witness to our body-mind and to all its demands.

When I stand back and notice myself I am no longer identifying myself with the material world. Thus I am not vulnerable to the sorrow, suffering, and despair that exist in the physical world. In this way I bring a sense of hope and optimism to the illusion of despair. I observe my body-mind and silently say something like this, “Just look at Wayne now, he is actually believing that his despair is real. He acts as if this is really him going through this, when in fact I am really him watching this entire plot emerge. If he would only stop and reconnect to spirit, he would awaken from his despair immediately.” As the witness you are not vulnerable because you see yourself from a different place.”

“Whenever you have a problem, it involves something past or future. You keep problems alive in your present mind by giving them your attention and energy, letting them live rent free in your head.

Embrace this moment, put one foot in front of the other, and handle what’s in front of you. Because no matter where your mind may roam, your body always remains here and now. When in haste, rest in the present. Take a deep breath, and come back to here and now.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, December 24th, 2013 by Donald Altman in THE MINDFULNESS CODE

“It is important to identify the weeds in our life, those persons, situations, emotions, events, and moments that cause us to feel discouraged, unappreciated, helpless, or worthless. A purpose transforms these weeds into a beautiful blossom of rebirth and renewal. If your purpose, for example, is to care for your family, then what might be experienced as an unsatisfying job becomes a gift because it allows you to fulfill your purpose.

Most jobs involve giving something to another, which can be viewed as a higher purpose. Waitresses “serve,” or give energy, on behalf of customers. Truck drivers move products to those who benefit from them. With such a perspective, the work you do on a daily basis becomes an act of giving, which can be your purpose. The means not that you would never want to find another job, one that may hold greater meaning or satisfaction for you, but rather that it’s possible to find purpose in what you are already doing.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, December 23rd, 2013 by Dr Wayne W. Dyer in REAL MAGIC

“In the area of your work, you may have been spending a great deal of time and energy doing things that you dislike, but telling yourself that it was absolutely necessary because you had bills to pay or a family to care for, or you simply had no other choice. Think about it this way, using numbers as a metaphor: If you are 99 percent invisible (thought and spirit), and only 1 percent form (the physical body that houses your soul), and you are doing something that you loathe, then you are essentially an inauthentic person. Your body is going through the motions, while you continue to think about how much you dislike the circumstances of your life.

One percent is going through the motions, and 99 percent loathes the activities of your life. So if what you think about is what expands into action, the action or physical part of your life is loathsome and awful. You cannot experience fulfillment or the opportunity for prosperity miracles while you are living a life of loathsomeness. There must be bliss and harmony within in order for you to know miracles. Thus you must shift from suffering and outcome to purpose.

Getting to purpose in the work that you do, or the daily activities of your life, means knowing that purpose is about giving without concern for the results. When you are able to shift your inner awareness to how you can serve others, and when you make this the central focus of your life, you will then be in a position to know true miracles in your progress toward prosperity.”

Best of PONDER on THIS for Friday, December 20th, 2013 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in PULLING YOUR OWN STRINGS

“Willingness to confront fear is called courage. You will find it very hard to overcome your fears unless you are willing to muster up some valor, even though you will find that you already possess it if you are willing to realize it.

Courage means flying in the face of criticism, relying on yourself, being willing to accept and learn from the consequences of all your choices. It means believing enough in yourself and in living your life as you choose, so that you cut the strings whose ends other people hold and use to pull you in many directions.

You can make your mental leaps toward courage by repeatedly asking yourself, “What is the worst thing that could happen to me if…?” When you consider the possibilities realistically, you will almost always find that nothing damaging or painful “can” happen when you take the necessary steps away from being a knee-jerk victim. Usually you will find that, like a child afraid of the dark, you are afraid of nothing, because nothing is the worst thing that could happen to you.”

“Our early life experiences remain alive in us and reflect to us the lives we now lead. For example, you may have been told you were “not good enough.” Taking into the account the power of the subconscious mind, you will unconsciously set up situations in your life that reflect this as a reality. We unconsciously recreate the known because it is “safe” and familiar. Alternatively if you were told “you are wonderful and perfect just as you are,” you are more likely to create a life that is wonderful and perfect just as it is and attract to yourself people who will mirror this inner programming and belief system.

Bruce Lipton refers to this powerful influence of the unconscious by sharing an analogy of someone being given a tape who goes home and put it in the tape player and presses Play. Listening to the tape, they realize the do not like what is playing, so they ask the tape player to play something else; but no matter how much they ask, the machine still plays the same tape. It is not listening. Lipton suggests that instead of pressing the Play button, we instead need to press the Record button and rewrite the program.”

“Challenge your fears. Fear of growing and of transformation of self is what causes you to want to disengage from the present situation and reach for another. When you feel that you are in a pattern of wanting what you do not have instead of what you do have, of seeing the grass in the other pasture as greener because it is in the other pasture, confront it. Challenge it each time that it comes up by literally realizing that when it comes up you are NOT in the present moment, you are not engaged in your present energy dynamic, you are letting energy leak to a future that does not exist.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, December 17th, 2013 by Rosalyn W. Berne in WHEN THE HORSES WHISPER

“For the first many millennia of human existence, we lived in a physical, mental, and spiritual world in which we belonged to a great and complex web of life, in which all creatures were intertwined. In the last few millennia, humans have come to believe ourselves to have dominion over the earth and its creatures. Whether that belief comes from the Bible or from the ego-awareness associated with our advancing intellects, it has been formative to our consciousness and fundamental to our behavior.

Though we are living longer and healthier lives than ever before, many still strive in vain to glean the meaning and purpose of life. We are also beginning to realize that our current understandings and behaviors and their impacts on the earth are unsustainable. This growing realization leaves many of us questioning our habitual roles on this planet, and wondering whether and how to redefine those roles. Could it be that we have lost our way? That’s what my experience leads me to believe. What I see is that we are in the process of rediscovering ourselves physically, emotionally, and psychologically. These discoveries stem from evolutionary adaptation, but also from technological changes we have made to alter our bodies and the environment. We are learning to shift our perceptions about who we are, why we are here on earth as human beings, and what it means to be fully alive.

As we humans continue to evolve our sense of being, our notion of what – and who – animals are is also evolving. We are re-awakening to the understanding of humans belonging to the earth – not vice versa – and of humans being part of the life force that sustains it, along with the other species we share it with.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, December 16th, 2013 by Shakti Gawain in CREATIVE VISUALIZATION

“One of the basic principles of holistic health is that we cannot separate our physical health from our emotional, mental, and spiritual states of being. All levels are interconnected and a state of “dis-ease” in the body is always a reflection of conflict, tension, anxiety, or disharmony on other levels of being as well. So when we have a physical disorder, it is inevitably a message for us to look deeply into our emotional and intuitive feelings, our thoughts and attitudes, to see what we can do to restore natural harmony and balance to our being. We must tune in and “listen” to the inner process.

There is constant communication between the mind and body. The body perceives the physical universe, and sends messages to the mind about it; the mind interprets the perceptions according to its own individual past experience and its belief system, and signals the body to react in a way which it feels is appropriate. If the mind’s belief system (on a conscious or unconscious level) says that it is appropriate or inevitable to get sick in a certain situation, it will signal the body accordingly, and the body will obligingly manifest symptoms of illness; it will in fact become ill. So the whole process is closely tied in with our deepest concepts and ideas about ourselves, life, and the nature of disease and health.”
