PONDER on THIS for Friday, December 13th, 2013 by Sara Wiseman in LIVING A LIFE OF GRATITUDE

“We become an adult when we step into who we really are. We don’t become perfect or mature, no do we solve all the problems of the planet – not to mention all the problems of our personal life, habits, characteristics, and relationships on this earth. Even when we step into adulthood, we carry our faults and flaws and foibles like coats we’ve brought along in case of cold weather.

But we do shed one suit of clothing we’ve been wearing for a long time. Not the innocence of childhood. Not the energy of youth. But the suit of clothing that others have made for us and that we have willingly donned for so many years – the shirt and pants of other people’s expectations, other people’s desires for us, other people’s demands…In every person’s life there comes a time when these outfits no longer fit. What our parents want for us. What our relationship wants for us. What society wants.

We must walk into the desert, take off all these suits of expectations, and step into who we really are.”

Sara Wiseman, in “Living a Life of Gratitude”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, December 12th, 2013 by J.M. DeBord in DREAMS 1-2-3

“For most people, dream memories disappear soon after waking up, though the window of opportunity stays open longer with practice. So get in the habit of asking yourself as soon as you wake up, “What did I dream?” Hold other thoughts at bay as you look inside and ask that question. It’s like staring into a dark night and waiting for forms to take shape. In that black inkiness are your dream memories. One memory, just a flash of a dream, is enough to give shape to the rest. Relax. Breathe deep. Search your memory. If a fragment of a dream comes to mind, ask yourself if it fits into a larger picture…

Waking up opens the memory hole and soon the details slip away, though you might remember other bits and pieces of a dream later in the day. By remaining at the edge of sleep longer and asking questions, the dreams aren’t allows to escape as quickly.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, December 11th, 2013 by Richard & Mary Alice Jafolla in THE QUEST

“NOW is rather an enigmatic concept when you ponder if for a while. No time exists other than NOW. Think of it – the past is over and gone. It will never be in your life again. Whatever happiness or grief it deposited in your life has already been delivered. The future? It’s not here yet and when it does arrive, it will no longer be the future. It will be now. So now is really all you have and all you ever will have. The past is compost, the future is a seed not planted, the present is the only soil in which you can grow. So lamenting a missed chance for love in the past, or nervously anticipating a need for prosperity in the future is wasting precious opportunities for all your good in the present.

Why not begin doing the best you can right where you are? You can’t get on an airplane that left yesterday, and you can’t board one today that will leave tomorrow. You can’t grow from where you were yesterday, and it’s impossible to grow from where you will be tomorrow. The only growing has to take place exactly where you are planted. You are planted where you are because that soil is the best for you at this time in your unfoldment. The soil, the circumstances, in which you now find yourself contains all the elements that will make you grow best.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, December 10th, 2013 by Stuart Wilde in THE QUICKENING

“I learned as a young man that there is a special fluidity in non-attachment. Yet the whole of our education and programming brainwashes us into sustaining society. It forces us to remain within its clutch in order to sustain the status quo. It takes effort to push away from that and create the individual – detached and free. Emotionally, we are constantly suckered into having to belong, yet it takes only a little effort of mental agility to begin to feel more secure in not belonging.

Try this the next time you hear two people discussing a problem: let us say that one is asking the other the way to the bus station. Don’t but in even if you know the answer. Use the situation to train yourself to stay uninvolved. Now, if one of the two asks you, “Where’s the bus station?” tell him. But if they don’t ask, say nothing. What you are trying to learn is to become as little attached to events as possible. You are learning to stand to one side of the common reality. In becoming the silent observer you gain a Quickening.”

“Self-worth is not a thing; it is a perception. Just as a gymnast begins a routine with ten points and receives deductions for reach mistake, so you began life with a natural, complete sense of worth. (Have you ever met an infant with self-worth issues?) But as you grow, you serve as your own judge, deducting points when you misunderstand the nature of living and learning – when you forget you are a human-in-training and that making mistakes and having slips of integrity and mediocre moments are a part of life, not unforgivable.”

PONDER on THIS for Friday, December 6th, 2013 by Eugenia Oganova in MISSION ALPHA

“We cannot become an awakened Self without the desire to be the Self. We cannot become aware and powerful without going through all the powerlessness. To some extent powerlessness is necessary to show us what power is, because we learn through comparison in duality. It is naive to assume that when you welcome the universal flow you will suddenly leave behind all your troubles and “everything will be ok”…Truly free universal energy feels great, but when it first enters us, it of course will hit all the blocks we have, smashing them open. Don’t you think that might be uncomfortable?

Right, it usually is an uncomfortable process, because you have to re-evaluate your views on reality, and your ideas and beliefs. But do not despair, it is not an agony! Every time you feel the insecurity of your fear, you also gain more tolerance to it, and when you process the pain, you gain knowledge and experience, which end in wisdom and power. And so with each block the clearing becomes easier, even if the blocks themselves are painful. This is the reward for doing processing work! The blocks are not necessarily any less traumatic or painful, but they do not suck us in, do not scare us as much any longer, and do not define our reality, hence they are just uncomfortable. The wisdom is well worth it.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, December 5th, 2013 by Bonnie Glass-Coffin and don Oscar Miro-Quesada in LESSONS IN COURAGE

“After years of apprenticeship with my beloved teachers of both physical and non-physical realms, I live with this heartfelt conviction: The earth-honoring traditions of our planet’s original peoples provide a welcome alternative to all dogma. These traditions show us the way back to our spiritual roots as they offer us an intimate, reverent relationship with Pachamama, who is our beloved Earth mother. As we marvel at the patterns and beauty of the natural world, we learn to walk in gratitude for the gift of our lives. And as we play close attention to how her cycles, pulses, and rhythms are mirrored in ourselves, we gain a very clear understanding that we are not separate. Through this practice, we recognize ourselves as luminous strands in the great web of life.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, December 4th, 2013 by Neale Donald Walsch in FRIENDSHIP WITH GOD

“It is this very teaching of superiority that has caused so much pain in your world. The idea, deeply ingrained in a people, that they are somehow “better” than others may give them an extra measure of confidence. This is not self-confidence, but a dangerous brand of hubris that allows an entire population to believe itself to be in the right, no matter what it says or does.

People of many faiths and nations have believed and taught this through the years, producing a righteousness so huge that it desensitized them to any other experience, including the abject suffering of others. If there is one thing which it would benefit you to remove from your various cultural myths, it is this idea that, by means of some magic ingredient, you have been made better than some other humans; that yours is the superior race, or the superior faith, the better country or the better political system; the higher approach or the higher way.

I tell you this: the day that you cause cultures to do this is the day that you change the world. The word “better” is one of the most dangerous words in your vocabulary, exceeded only by the word “right.”  Both are connected, for it is because you think you are better that you think you are right. Yet I have made no ethnic or cultural group My chosen people, and I have made no path to Me the one true path. Neither have I singled out any nation or religion for special favor, nor given any gender or race superiority over another.”

“When you take the initiative to clean up the chaos in your life and act with compassion, like any self-respecting Heavenly being would, you will no longer need daddy/mommy/God to discipline you. You will discover that trouble stops showing up uninvited. Similarly, the faster humanity craws out of its sexually and emotionally immature larval phase, the less apocalyptical God will get on our ass.

Sickness, injury, and misfortune are often the Higher Self’s ways of getting your attention, so you stop and pay mind to Heaven’s guidance. Then you can hear the sacred whispers inside. If this inner transmission is voluntarily sought out, to the depth that the Higher Self requests, there will no longer be cause for personal catastrophe. People who listen to their inner guidance still go through difficulties, but their life doesn’t play like a Shakespearean tragedy.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, December 2nd, 2013 by Fr. Anthony DeMello in AWARENESS

“Do you want to change the world? How about beginning with yourself? How about being transformed yourself first? But how do you achieve that? Through observation. Through understanding. With no interference or judgment on your part. Because what you judge you cannot understand.

When you say of someone, “He’s a communist,” understanding has stopped at that moment. You slapped a label on him. “She’s a capitalist.” Understanding has stopped at that moment. You slapped a label on her, and if the label carries undertones of approval or disapproval, so much the worse! How are you going to understand what you disapprove of, or what you approve of, for that matter?

All of this sounds like a new world, doesn’t it? No judgment, no commentary, no attitude: one simply observes, one studies, one watches, without the desire to change what is. Because if you desire to change what is into what you think it SHOULD be, you no longer understand.”

“The mental discipline for somebody who is very intellectual is the idea of not making your mind God and becoming arrogant. Then you have to somehow pull out of too much thinking. Excess thinking is a disease. It’s what I call “over-thinking-on-life.” When you get too mentally involved in questioning and intellectual activity, it keeps you from tapping into who you really are. You are a FEELING. When you depart from this earth plane, you depart as a feeling. You do not depart as 21 volumes of the Encyclopedia Britannica. Intellect is useful because it can earn you money and help you study; it can help you remember things. But in the end you are a spiritual being and therefore a feeling, not an intellectual concept.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, November 28th, 2013 by Neale Donald Walsch in CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD BOOK 3

“Everything that occurs – everything that has occurred, is occurring, and will occur – is the outward physical manifestation of your innermost thoughts, choices, ideas, and determinations regarding Who You Are and Who You Choose to Be. Condemn not, therefore, those aspects of life with which you disagree. Seek instead to change them, and the conditions that made them possible.

Behold the darkness, yet curse it not. Rather, be a light unto the darkness, and so transform it. Let your light shine before men, that those who stand in the darkness will be illumined by the light of your being, and all of you will see, at last, Who You Really Are. Be a Bringer of the Light. For your light can do more than illuminate your own path. Your light can be the light which truly lights the world.”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, November 27th, 2013 by Sondra Sneed in WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU’RE DEAD

“Great change is taking place on the earth, and whether you believe in God or not, there is going to be a change in how you see the world. The world is not an easy place within which to become your greatest nature, because you and the rest of the world have forgotten why you exist at all. There is a problem with that forgetfulness. The problem is that you cannot find happiness in your life unless you remember the reason you came to earth. You came here for one reason – you are designed to find the mind of God and to give that mind to every activity you perform.

When you learn to open your human mind and capture the great creative force that dwells somewhere above your thinking brain, then you will uncover the riches you seek and the abundant life withheld from you. Please understand that the only one holding you back from the very thing you wish for is your misunderstanding about the nature of being.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, November 26th, 2013 by Eliza Mada Dalian in IN SEARCH OF THE MIRACULOUS

“All struggles and unhappiness arise out of your rejection of what life brings. Instead of enjoying the life you already have, you seek what your beliefs and conditionings dictate. If you were prepared to accept what life gives you and able to watch your ego-mind from moment to moment, there would not even be a question of needing to surrender. In the absence of the ego-mind, you would already be in surrender.

What prevents us from surrendering is our need to always be right and in control. When we are afraid to let go of our beliefs and attachments to people and things we prevent ourselves from receiving what life abundantly showers upon us with all of its creation. It’s impossible to accept and surrender to life when you negate it through fear and insecurity. Your fear of the unknown and your worries of survival turn your life into a struggle that inevitably jeopardizes your own health and happiness.

You bring peace to yourself, others, and the world when you let go of your struggling ego-mind and gracefully accept what life offers you. By surrendering to what is you free your energy of the pain and suffering that your desires, beliefs, and conditionings create and discover many new and exciting things about yourself, others, and the universe.”

“Karma is memory coming to consciousness again. What has occurred in the past is recalled and has an effect on the present. Now, the recollection may not surface to the conscious level; the personality may have no awareness of the memory, in fact. Yet it exists at the deeper, soul level.

One of the most distorted views of karma is the idea that nothing can be done about it. No matter how terrible our predicament, there is always something we can do, even if it’s just dealing with it as best we can with a patient smile, a good attitude and a loving heart. The time will come when we will be through with this stretch of the hard road, and it’s best to come out of it with no bitterness. Remember, no one has done this to you, it is the result of your own actions, thoughts or words. In patience you will overcome it and rise again to an even greater level than before. Again, keep in mind that in the worst situation often lies the greatest opportunity.”
