“In Buddhism the word “suchness” is used to mean “the essence of particular characteristics of a thing or a person, its true nature.” If we want to live in peace and happiness with a person, we have to see the suchness of that person. Once we see it, we understand him or her, and there will be no trouble. We can live peacefully and happily together.

When we bring natural gas into our homes for heating and cooking, we know the suchness of gas. We know that gas is dangerous—it can kill us if we are not mindful. But we also know that we need the gas in order to cook, so we do not hesitate to bring it into our homes. The same is true of electricity…A person is the same. If we do not know enough about the suchness of that person, we may get ourselves into trouble. But if we know, then we can enjoy each other very much and benefit a lot from one another. The key is knowing a person’s suchness. We do not expect a person always to be a flower. We have to understand his or her garbage as well.”

Your destiny is separate because you are one of those rare people who has the mastery of his or her life.

I feel it is important to be informed about what is going on in the world, but be careful not to be pulled in emotionally. Stay away from world “causes”; they are ego traps. If you want to love the world, save it and feed it, that’s great. But first, love and feed yourself. Then, love, feed, and support those close to you. “When you affirm the manifestation of the divine plan for your life, it may begin unfolding quickly. If so, you must be willing to let go of the old and quickly expand into your divine plan, accepting whatever changes are involved in people, environment, and events. As Emerson has stated, “For everything you gain, you lose something.”

However, just the opposite may happen when you begin affirming the divine plan: changes may come slowly or not at all. If your good seems delayed, it may be a matter of “divine timing.” Even though you feel ready for  your new good, the new people and events that are to be connected with your divine plan may not yet have reached their point of fruition in your life. This is the time to declare that the divine plan of your life manifest under “divine timing.” To human sense, that divine timing may seem slow, but when it begins manifesting your new good, it often happens so quickly as to be breathtaking.
