“Have you ever heard someone say “but money isn’t important” or “it’s not about the money?” It is interesting to me that the people who say those things make the assumption that anyone actively focused on wealth, only wants the money. What good is money just to have money? As if the money itself had any value! The money itself has no meaning, no value in and of itself. We are the ones that give money its meaning and wrap it up in emotion. But I don’t believe anyone is seeking money for money. Everyone has needs and desires and they are driven by what’s underneath…the joy and happiness they will feel when they get what they want. Having a passion about what you love and what meets your need for purpose, love and happiness is what fuels your focus towards wealth.

No one actually seeks wealth just to be wealthy, just to “show off”. If it appears they do, that is insecurity and not what they truly want. They want love, and approval. Anyone who thinks it is bad to actively seek wealth has their own issues with money. I have not met one single person who does not have some issues over money and wealth. Even very wealthy ones. The most common are fear of failure and fear of success, fear of loss and fear of being greedy or bad. Money does not mean any of these things, unless you decide to choose that meaning for it.”

“There really is nothing wrong with having the desire to win in any area of life, but in your efforts to grow spiritually, your mission is to come to the awareness where you no longer feel an obsession to win. To accomplish this requires you to drop much of what you learned about competition earlier in life. Perhaps most importantly, it is necessary to leave behind the age-old teachingthat competition is required simply because there are only so many opportunities in this world. This world by its very nature is abundant,so there really is no need to compete with anyone unless you believe that you must. According to the renowned spirituality author Emmet Fox:

“God never repeats Himself, and so He has never made two people alike, and it is for this reason that no two people could ever do the same work, or express themselves in quite the same way. That is why, rightly understood, there really need be no competition. There need be no such thing as, say, two thousand people struggling for the same place in life. Whatever the place may be, there can be only one person who can fill it perfectly; and there are one thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine other places somewhere waiting for the people if only they will find them.”

Once you can embrace the wisdom and practicality in Mr. Fox’s words, then it will not be a stretch for you to see that it really isn’t necessary for you to compete with any person for scholastic, employment, or other career/business opportunities. The truth is you do have unique capabilities that make you ideally suited for a certain station in life.
