PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, May 18th, 2010 by Misa Hopkins in THE ROOT OF ALL HEALING

“Music is another art form that has been studied in relationship to reducing pain. According to a paper in the Journal of Advanced Nursing, researchers carried out a controlled clinical trial with 60 people, dividing them into two music groups and a control group. They found that people who listened to music for an hour every day for a week reported improved physical and psychological symptoms compared to the control group. They determined that: “Listening to music can reduce chronic pain by up to 21per cent and depression by up to 25 per cent…It can also make people feel more in control of their pain and less disabled by their condition.”

Listening to enchanting, uplifting music for a while can energize and soothe your body, mind and spirit, giving your respite from pain, and it can even help you heal. In his book, The Mozart Effect, Don Campbell discusses various clinically proven physiological effects music can have in the healing process, including increasing endorphins (the natural opiates of the body), stimulating the immune system, regulating stress-hormone levels, affecting body temperature, strengthening memory and even enhancing endurance. Music, like many forms of creativity, is good for more than entertainment, it promotes healing.”

PONDER on THIS for Monday, May 17th, 2010 by William L. Murtha in DYING FOR A CHANGE

Will Murtha: Do all animals really have emotions like some scientists say they do?

Voice of Higher Presence: Please. Have you not ever looked into the eyes of your pet dog and not felt deep emotions of love and friendship? Have you not stared into the eyes of a horse and felt something substantially deeper and more profound? Of course, animals have emotions. Many are more emotionally attuned than their human counterparts. That is because animals live on their natural instincts. They live by their truth.

Will Murtha: If I am not mistaken, you have implied that emotion lives on in all living matter. I’m confused. How can a tree in my back garden be full of emotion?

Voice of Higher Presence: If you stay rooted to your old ways of viewing the world, then yes, this does sound almost preposterous, doesn’t it? If you continue to restrain your beliefs, then I can understand why this concept would sound so alien to you. But let me assure you, it is most certainly not. Scientists are only recently beginning to discover that the very same matter that constitutes a tree is also the very same matter that is evident in human beings. We are made up of the same stuff, only in a wildly different combination. Have I not said before that all living matter contains the energy of life force? And have I not intimated that this energy is constantly dancing in and out of all life?”

PONDER on THIS for Friday, May 14th, 2010 by Eckhart Tolle in THE POWER OF NOW

“Why does the mind habitually deny or resist the Now? Because it cannot function and remain in control without time, which is past and future, so it perceives the timeless Now as threatening. Time and mind are in fact inseparable.

Imagine the Earth devoid of human life, inhabited only by plants and animals. Would it still have a past and a future? Could we still speak of time in any meaningful way? The question “What time is it?” or “What’s the date today?” – if anybody were there to ask it – would be quite meaningless. The oak tree or the eagle would be bemused by such a question. “What time?” they would ask. “Well, of course, it’s now. The time is now. What else is there?”

Yes, we need the mind as well as time to function in this world, but there comes a point where they take over our lives, and this is where dysfunction, pain, and sorrow set in.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Thursday, May 13th, 2010 by Stuart Wilde in AFFIRMATIONS

“Developing abundance involves effort. But there is a big difference between effort and struggle. If you are doing work just to survive, it becomes drudgery, which pillages your energy. Decide what you want, and begin to go for it—right now. Getting paid for what you love to do is one of life’s great joys. It is a way of honoring yourself.

Money is your escape hatch, but that escape hatch is not effective until you work for yourself. No matter how considerate your boss is, you always live according to his destiny, not yours. This is fine for a time, but eventually you will have to get into complete control. If it is not possible for you to be self-employed, then begin by developing as much freedom as you can within your employment. Perhaps you can sell your expertise to your employer as a subcontractor.”

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, May 12th, 2010 by Justine Toms in SMALL PLEASURES, FINDING GRACE IN A CHAOTIC WORLD

“How do I start to make a new practice in my life? Here’s what I’ve come up with. First, I need to become aware of the moments when I’m in my worry mode, those times when my brain is spinning out its tale of how bad things are, and how they have always been bad, and how they will most likely continue to be bad.

As soon as I’m conscious that I’m running the worry channel, I switch it – just like clicking a TV remote – to the gratitude channel, and ask myself what I am grateful for in that moment. I change my focus…Try this simple technique for yourself: When you find yourself thinking negative thoughts, just change the channel.

Does it help? Are you more relaxed? Are you happier? When is it most difficult? If you remember to turn a life-negating thought to a life-supporting one at least once a day, you are on your way to changing the habit. Merely noticing that you are in a gloomy state is a step in the right direction.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, May 11th, 2010 by Nan Akasha in ALREADY RICH

“Does the Universe send you messages? Yes. However, it is almost an epidemic how many people just fall into complacency and think they are not meant to have what they want when something does not work the first time. Don’t give up so easily! Do not look to interpret signs and events as “you are not meant to have this” before you persist. “Well, I really, really wanted to  go to this event, but the sign up did not work, so I guess I am not meant to…” These are dis-empowering, false interpretations. If you are willing to give up what you truly desire so easily, and let anything appear as an excuse, you will see little in your life that you really love. People who succeed and have what they want, did not take no, did not give up, they kept looking for the right path.

The Universe does not say no, and does not think you do not deserve. There may, however, be a better path, easier, route or you may need to strengthen some skills, desire or focus, and that is what the signs mean. Choose to see the signs as a way of guiding, and then allow the real message to reveal itself as you move forward. We actually have to be masters of our focus and persist, daily, in focusing on what we want and keep the signal strong and consistent. We are training ourselves, our minds as well as communicating to the energy, the Divine mind, the Universal intelligence. It is this absolute decisiveness and faith that produces the miracles of manifestation. Don’t give up your dream. Read the signs, persist and keep moving forward.”

“We have no idea when spiritual insights will come. Our times of struggle can be just as pivotal as when we’re feeling really connected. All we can do is work toward being intuitively open, no matter what’s happening. Life will do the rest. The point is not to sit around just waiting to become enlightened. The richness of our emotions, the very events of our lives, provide a potent springboard from which to grow.”

“Learning to listen to your body and to tap into healthy resources is an ongoing practice that needs to be embedded in the fabric of your life, into your daily routines and activities. It is important to remember to nourish and nurture yourself, no matter what the situation. The airlines have it right when they tell us to put our own oxygen mask on before assisting those around us. This may require a change in what you pay attention to.

If most of your daily attention goes outside of yourself – pleasing and accommodating others or fitting in, even to your detriment – you will need to change this orientation. Balancing your attention inside and outside of yourself will give you a new ability to make healthy decisions. In fact, you may find holding a therapeutic presence for someone else pleasurable and easy when you are listening more to your inner world and nourishing yourself sufficiently.”

“Life is what is happening; death is what is not happening. A moment after something happens, it is already dead. Whatever happened to us as a child, in school, with friends, in love relationships – whatever was true thirty years ago – is no longer true. Our whole personal history is dead, but we become so attached that we bring back the ghost in our mind.

We carry the memory of our whole life knowing that it is dead, that it is no longer true, and yet it affects our everyday life. It is true that the memory happened, but it’s also true that it is not happening anymore. It is gone; it isn’t real. If it was real, it’s no longer real.”

“When your actions are motivated by fear, you prevent yourself from moving forward and achieving your dreams. You do not allow the universe to support you in reaching your highest potential and your true purpose in life. You allow your fear to stop you from pursuing your life’s work. Your path becomes narrow, your life becomes more difficult, and what you fear manifests in your reality.

Acts of obligation are motivated by fear and not for the highest good of all. When you act out of obligation you do not honor your own value. Obligation is the opposite of freedom and not a wise choice. When you feel obligated to do things for others, you are not being kind to yourself or others. Obligation creates pain and lowers your energy, vitality and well being. Obligation is motivated by seeking approval from others. When you feel obligated to do things for your family members, you set an example to your children that it is their obligation, as well, to do thing for you and others. When you feel obligated to have sex with your partner, it can be very devastating to your own physical, mental and emotional well being. You have free will to say, “No.” Let go of any obligation you might feel towards yourself, your family, your friends, etc., and act with love and compassion. Know that your only obligation is to act on your inner guidance, which is inspired by love, compassion and joy.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, May 4th, 2010 by Deepak Chopra, Debbie Ford & Marianne Williamson in THE SHADOW EFFECT

“We have been conditioned to fear the shadow side of life and the shadow side of ourselves. When we catch ourselves thinking a dark thought or acting out in a behavior that we feel is unacceptable, we run, just like a groundhog, back into our hole and hide, hoping, praying, it will disappear before we venture out again. Why do we do this? Because we are afraid that no matter how hard we try, we will never be able to escape from this part of ourselves. And although ignoring or repressing our dark side is the norm, the sobering truth is that running from the shadow only intensifies its power. Denying it only leads to more pain, suffering, regret, and resignation.

If we fail to take responsibility and extract the wisdom that has been hidden beneath the surface of our conscious minds, the shadow will take charge, and instead of us being able to have control over it, the shadow winds up having control over us, triggering the shadow effect. Our dark side then starts making our decisions for us, stripping us of our right to make conscious choices whether it’s what food we will eat, how much money we will spend, or what addiction we will succumb to. Our shadow incites us to act out in ways we never imagined we could and to waste our vital energy on bad habits and repetitive behaviors.”

PONDER on THIS for Monday, May 3rd, 2010 by Richard Blackstone in NUTS AND BOLTS SPIRITUALITY

“The key to the creative process is the word “I,”” which the universe recognizes as its wake-up call in creating. “I am” is the most powerful statement you can make concerning creation. God has declared that “I am that I am” as the creator of the all. You, being one with God, use the great “I am” in the same creative manner. After you have the universe’s attention by saying the word “I,” and invoking the power of “I am,” you are ready to send the universe your powerful creation.

You said the words “I want more money.” The universe understands and sends your creation back to you in physical form. You now have in your physical reality the “wanting of more money.” And you will continue to have this “wanting of more money” until you create something else about money. You could create from a thought that says, “I have money.” But if you know this is not true, then a better thought might be “I have money coming to me now.” Then hold that thought, speak those words, and do action steps in alignment with that. The universe has no recourse but to manifest that into your reality.”

“Biochemically speaking, your body cannot tell the difference between the injection of chemicals that is triggered by an objective threat – the tribesman running at you with a spear – and a subjective threat – your resentment toward management. The biochemical and genetic effects, as far as your body is concerned, are the same. Your body can’t tell that one experience is a physical reality, and the other is a reply of an abstract mental idea. Both are creating a chemical environment around your cells that is full of signals to your genes, several classes of which activate the proteins associated with stress. A researcher observes: “Our body doesn’t make a moral judgment about our feelings; it just responds accordingly.”

The understanding that much of our genetic activity is affected by factors outside the cell is a radical reversal of the dogma of genetic determinism, which held for half a century that who we are and what we do is governed by our genes. Research is illuminating a new biology in which consciousness plays a primary role.”

“Ever since legal tender was created, no one has had enough. So as we think money, we immediately think “not enough,” and now can you start to see the picture? Money equates to not enough…which equates to lack…which equates to Feel Bad vibrations…which faithfully supplies us more of precisely what we don’t want any more of: lack!

The good news is that we don’t have to get in there and dig up all our moldy old beliefs about money to allow the abundance to flow; we only have to override them. And thank heavens for that; we’d be on the couch for decades trying to overcome the plethora of well-ensconced doctrines about money that society has unjustly created.”

“Will Murtha: So it is okay to be intimate with another person outside of our own special relationships?

Voice of Higher Presence: All of your friendships are special. Every one of your close bonds is divinely unique. There is not a single one of your present relationships that isn’t serving you in some way, even the ones that you may critically judge to be negative and harmful.

Of course, your question depends on what you personally mean by the term “intimate.” If you mean your deepest, innermost experience, then yes, sharing your intimacy with a number of your soul mates will definitely help you with your personal development. Those who are mentally and emotionally stable enough already know this to be true.
