“The thing about repetitive, reactive behaviors is that over time they become deeply ensconced in our physiology. By always reacting a certain way to a certain stimulus, we create deep neural pathways, deep ingrained ruts. We have absolutely no concept that we are doing so. We become very comfortable living unconsciously, reacting to everything and everyone without thinking it through or examining its presence in our lives. These patterns of behaviors or reactions become so habitual that we carpet our ruts, set up walls, buy wonderful furniture and move in. Eventually, over time, as these repetitive reactions continue, we forget that we have a built a foundation on a rut and are unable to discern its original cause – why we began reacting like that in the first place.

Keep in mind that most of our repetitive reactions were created through our original interactions with our tribes, as far back as our conception. These reactions accumulated and deeply entrenched themselves into our psyche. We could spend years searching, but it’s not necessary to understand the root cause of our behaviors. It doesn’t matter if our parents are the underlying cause of any of our ruts; we just need to be aware that there is a pattern or rut, hiding under the carpet. And we have to use our free will to decide that we no longer want it there, that we no longer want it influencing our lives!”

Of course dishonest people step on the honest people and have more success.” People want to justify their own failures and use their pretend-goodness to explain why they didn’t start Google, or steal $65 billion, or get that last promotion when the backstabbing b—h from aisle 3 got the raise after doing who knows what. But here’s the truth. Dishonesty works…until it doesn’t. Everyone messes up. And when you are dishonest, you are given only one chance and then it’s over. You’re out of the game – at least until you get your act straight and you have to start from scratch with your tail between your legs.

HONESTY COMPOUNDS. It compounds exponentially. No matter what happens in your bank account, in your career, in your promotions, in your start-ups. Although you may have labeled this habit as being “sensitive,” there’s actually nothing sensitive about it at all. We live at a time when people collect friends like we collect clothes – different types for different moods, seasonal, disposable.
