“Now the trouble with you and me my friend,
Is the trouble with this nation
Too many blessings, too little appreciation
And I know that kind of notion – well, it just ain’t cool
So send me back to Sunday school
Because I’m tired of waiting
for reason to arrive
It’s been too long we’ve been living
these unexamined lives.”

Best of PONDER on THIS for Friday, March 15th, 2013 by Marsha Sinetar in TO BUILD THE LIFE YOU WANT, CREATE THE WORK YOU LOVE

“As you actively wrestle with today’s problems, tomorrow’s achievements fall into place. Your mind’s honest encounter with reality (not how you wish things were) leads you toward the goals you cherish. What you THINK you’re meant to do in life may well turn out (on the far side of experience) to be different from what you now expect. The well-worn adage that life is what happens while we’re busy doing something else reinforces this. Participate with full engagement in whatever happens NOW.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, March 14th, 2013 by Rosalie B. Kahn in MY HEALING HEART

“If someone has hurt us, we have a choice. We can either hold on to the negative feelings because of the hurt, or we can choose to let those feelings go. It’s not easy to let go, but there are many ways to heal and come to a place of forgiveness. One very powerful way is through prayer. Forgiveness is not denial of what happened. However, it can help to ease our sense of having been unjustly treated. Learning to forgive lessens the hold the negative feelings have on us.

I’ve used the following prayer many times, on an as-needed basis, whenever I felt that I wanted to forgive someone, or even to forgive myself. I said the prayer every day until I felt some relief from the situation I sat quietly, took a few deep breaths, and then repeated the words slowly to really feel the meaning of what I was saying. I know that it helped to release the anger I had been experiencing. It was a way to begin the process of healing.

Prayer of Forgiveness:
All that has offended me, I forgive.
Within and without, I forgive.
Whatever has made me bitter, resentful, unhappy, I forgive.
Things past, present, and future, I forgive.
I forgive everything and everybody who can possibly need forgiveness of the past or present.
I forgive everyone.
I particularly forgive (enter the name or names of people you wish to forgive here).
I am free and they are free too. All things are cleared up between us now and forever.
I am forgiven for everything.
I am forgiven by everyone.
I now let go of worn out things, worn out conditions, worn out relationships.
Divine order and harmony are now established and maintained in me and in my world.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, March 13th, 2013 by Shakti Gawain in CREATIVE VISUALIZATION

“We can think of life as having three levels, and we can call those levels “beingness,” “doingness,” and “havingness.” Beingness is the basic experience of being alive and conscious. It is the experience we have in deep meditation, the experience of being totally complete and at rest within oneself. Doingness is movement and activity, it stems from the natural creative energy that flows through every living thing and is the source of our vitality. Havingness is the state of being in relationship with other people and things in the Universe. It is the ability to allow and accept things and people into our lives; to comfortably occupy the same space with them.

Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: They try to HAVE more things or more money, in order to DO more of what they want, so that they will BE happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first BE who you really are, then DO what you need to do, in order to HAVE what you want.”

“Most people live in the past or the future, without realizing that the present is the most incredible gift of all. It give us the ability to take action now, to make a difference in our future today instead of talking about it like a pipe-dream we are hoping will just happen. The universe is designed to give us whatever it is we want out of life, but most of us are caught up wasting our energy in a way that keeps us from finding what truly matters.

Even when you think you might know what truly makes you happy, it’s important to determine how you came to that conclusion. Do you have your job or career because it is something you chose, or were other factors involved? Did you decide to go to law school because your father is an attorney or to medical school because your father is a doctor? Did you grow up running the family business, being taught that your parents’ dream was your dream too?

Turn off the television, close your eyes, and you might just find what you’re looking for. It may be a step in the right direction at the least.”

“As we take universal energy (an energy that already exists) and exercise our creative minds, giving that energy meaning and direction with thought, the most powerful energy in the universe, we now have set into motion creative manifestation. Realize that you have been doing this your entire life. Thought is energy set into motion. The spoken or written word is no more than the expression of thought, but never assume that because you refrained from verbalizing it, the thought failed to be set into motion or lacks power.”

“There are people who claim that they are always trying to make ends meet. They seem to have a great struggle to meet their obligations. Have you listened to their conversation? In many instances their conversation runs along this vein: They are constantly condemning those who have succeeded in life and who have raised their heads above the crowd. Perhaps they are saying, “Oh, that fellow has a racket; he is ruthless; he is a crook.” This is why they lack; they are condemning the thing they desire and want. The reason they speak critically of their more prosperous associates is because they are envious and covetous of the other’s prosperity. The quickest way to cause wealth to take wings and fly away is to criticize and condemn others who have more wealth than you.”

“When was the last time you watched the players on a sports team when they scored a goal? Professional or amateur, there is always some instant and physical recognition by their peers of their accomplishment. There is a ritual to every goal, every touchdown, every hit and every win. Celebrating the small wins and the big ones creates positive energy for the team and builds momentum.

That momentum builds in each player, fueled by adrenaline, and is transferred to the other team members when they congratulate each other. As more momentum is built, someone else is energized to capitalize on the momentum and score a goal…You may think that celebrating your goal—the completion of a project or task—is no big deal…You might rarely celebrate the small victories at the milestones along the route because, well, you just don’t think it’s all that important…Too often we denigrate our accomplishments with negative self-talk. We tell ourselves we “should’ve” done something different, better, faster, prettier than what we did do…It’s time to stop “shoulding” on ourselves and celebrate all our wins!”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, March 6th, 2013 by Ching Ning Chu in THICK FACE BLACK HEART

“When drastic change and chaos occur in your life, a very effective antidote is inactivity. During the period of chaos, when everything you attempt to do to remedy a situation backfires, or you have to undo everything that has been done and start all over again, stop immediately and do nothing. Wait until the dust settles and most likely, you will see a clear path obviously laid in front of you.

Doing nothing is easier said than done, especially when one’s life has been turned upside down. It requires tremendous power of endurance and the ability to act against every instinct of our nature, which attempts continuously to repair the situation.

When you immerse yourself in inactivity, you are also gathering and nurturing your inner strength. By doing so, without anxiety and with a detached spirit, you are able to focus yourself and thus create a force of powerful momentum and unshakable clarity. When you recognize the proper time to act, this new found energy will aid you in realizing your desired result.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, March 5th, 2013 by Nan Yielding in THINGS I NEVER LEARNED IN SUNDAY SCHOOL

“From a strictly historical viewpoint, unless ancient texts come to light, we will never know exactly who Jesus was. But as scholars have researched and gathered information about him over the years, it becomes more and more evident his primary mission was to deliver a special message from God to the Jewish people. He wanted them to know that God’s kingdom was present now, not in some nebulous future. There was no need to wait for some cosmic cataclysm, nor was there any ritual, law, or sacrifice to fulfill. God’s love and mercy were immediately accessible.

As I considered this new perspective of Jesus, I thought of something he reportedly told his listeners: “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). To me, he was saying we should enjoy the richness of life in the here and now. There is no need to wait for some future event to occur. We can be in God’s presence at this very moment. I believe this is the “good news of the kingdom” that Jesus came to proclaim.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, March 4th, 2013 by Theresa Crabtree in MAYAN MESSAGES: DAILY GUIDE TO SELF-EMPOWERMENT

“Polarity has an important purpose for without it, our world could not exist. Although the key to living a life filled with joy and happiness is being able to remain balanced in all situations, there are times when experiencing extremes such as addictions actually strengthens us. For when we learn to balance the extremes and become more centered, we are then able to empathize with others who have been where we were and can now be a role model for them.

Every thing in the physical world has an opposite. We each have the ability to choose how to react to each experience that comes our way. This often happens on a subconscious level, especially when we are not being aware and living in the moment. Start anew and leave behind the polarity extremes that are stopping you from living a joy filled life. Take time daily to quiet your inner and outer mind. Look at the things that are happening in your life: your actions and reactions, your re-creation, your relationships, your eating habits, your belief codes, etc.

If it is joy you wish to experience, look carefully at each of your behaviors and step by step, begin to walk towards the goal of the most blessed and bountiful life that you can possibly imagine. Play John Lennon’s song, Imagine, and dare to create that kind of life and more for yourself and your comrades on Earth.”

“The reason you suffer from your depression and your anxieties is that you identify with them. You say, “I’m depressed.” But that is false. You are not depressed. If you want to be accurate, you might say, “I am experiencing a depression right now.”

But you can hardly say, “I am depressed.” You are NOT your depression. That is but a strange trick of the mind, a strange kind of illusion. You have deluded yourself into thinking – though you are not aware of it – that you ARE your depression, that you ARE your anxiety, that you ARE your joy or the thrills that you have.

Clouds come and go some of them are black and some white, some of them are large, others small. If we want to follow the analogy, you would be the sky, observing the clouds. You are a passive, detached observer. You’re not interfering. Don’t “fix” anything. Watch! Observe! The trouble with people is that they’re busy fixing things they don’t even understand. We’re always fixing things aren’t we? It never strikes us that things don’t need to be fixed. They really don’t. This is a great illumination. They need to be UNDERSTOOD. If you understood them, they’d change.”

“Other people respond to you in whatever way their programs and beliefs dictate. Power comes in knowing that you have a choice. You do not need to change other people; you can change your reaction to them. When you choose to feel good you are not dependent on other people acting in certain ways to make you feel good. Before you can attract people who will support, appreciate and acknowledge you, you must choose to do that for yourself. The degree to which you support and acknowledge yourself will be the degree to which you receive support.”

“We all have negative feelings, but not all negativity produces disease. To create disease, negative emotions have to be dominant, and what accelerates the process is KNOWING the negative thought to be toxic, but giving it permission to thrive in your consciousness anyway. For instance, you may know you need to forgive someone, yet you decide that remaining angry gives you more power.

Remaining obsessively angry makes you more likely to develop a disease because the energy consequence of a negative obsession is powerlessness. Energy is power, and transmitting energy into the past by dwelling on painful events drains power from your present-day body and can lead to illness.”

“Earth is abundant, and so are we when we take care of the earth and each other. This happens to be our lesson: that we must work together in love. We must do our research and find out what is true instead of being led like sheep to go against our divine nature, which makes us feel bad and develop cruel ways of speaking and treating other humans and animals. With the poverty concept of scarce supply controlling us, we remain frightened about what will happen to us in the future. Remember that there is no greater terrorist weapon than our minds.

Scarcity theories pervade the work climate and cause people to be cutthroat in order to destroy their so-called competition and ruin them by “making a killing” – interesting words to use in business. Our work may appear to be the production and distribution of goods and services, but really our work is love, helping people.”
