Best of PONDER on THIS for Friday, August 9th, 2013 by Stuart Wilde in INFINITE SELF

“Whatever you concentrate on, you empower. So if you’ve been concentrating on negative or adverse things, if you feel overwhelmed by difficulties and dysfunction, you can be sure that they will all be in your “hall of fame,” so to speak. Here’s a statue to dysfunction. Here’s another to frustration. And over there is one that honors struggle. Let’s bow down to the god of struggle and give that 15 minutes of your reality.

The first point of awareness is to discipline your mind, police your dialogue, and cut out and any deprecating statements – especially ones that destroy your energy and make you sick. If someone asks you how you feel, don’t answer, “Horrible, grim, life’s a nightmare.” Instead, answer, “Fantastic!’ It doesn’t matter if your life isn’t fantastic; that’s only the ego’s viewpoint. Spiritually, your life IS fantastic, it’s a great PRIVILEGE to be here. I think it’s important to remind yourself of that constantly.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, August 8th, 2013 by Catherine Ponder in OPEN YOUR MIND TO PROSPERITY

“A powerful way to overcome the thought of loss and its consequences, is to remind yourself of this great truth: There is no loss in Spirit. You cannot lose your good. When it seems you have lost your good, it is because your good has changed form! Remember that there can be no loss in any phase of nature. The elements of nature merely change their form. When your good seems to leave you – to fly out the window – let it go. That is good you have outgrown. Then watch for new good to come in the door.

If a flower is cut from a rosebush, you do not have to say, “There will be no more roses.” Instead, you know the bush will grown and roses will bloom again, because the roots have not been destroyed. God gives the increase. The word restore means “to make beautiful again,” and through the right attitude about periods of apparent loss, you can restore or make your life beautiful again.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, August 7th, 2013 from A COURSE IN MIRACLES

“Everyone experiences fear. Yet it would take very little right thinking to realize why fear occurs. Few appreciate the real power of the mind, and no one remains fully aware of it all the time. However, if you hope to spare yourself from fear there are some things you must realize, and realize fully.

The mind is very powerful, and never loses its creative force. It never sleeps. Every instant it is creating. It is hard to recognize that thought and belief combine into a power surge that can literally move mountains. It appears at first glance that to believe such power about yourself is arrogant, but that is not the real reason you do not believe it. You prefer to believe that your thoughts cannot exert real influence because you are actually afraid of them.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, August 6th, 2013 by Richard Carlson in DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF

“The fact that life isn’t fair doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do everything in our power to improve our own lives or the world as a whole. To the contrary, it suggests that we should. When we don’t recognize or admit that life isn’t fair, we tend to feel pity for others and for ourselves. Pity, of course, is a self-defeating emotion that does nothing for anyone, except to make everyone feel worse than they already do. When we do recognize that life isn’t fair, however, we feel compassion for others and for ourselves. And compassion is a heartfelt emotion that delivers loving-kindness to everyone it touches. The next time you find yourself thinking about the injustices of the world, try reminding yourself of this very basic fact. You may be surprised that it can nudge you out of self-pity and into helpful action.”

“Personal worth doesn’t mean self-worth. Where do you get self-worth from? Do you get it from success in your work? Do you get it from having a lot of money? Do you get it from attracting a lot of men or a lot of women? How fragile all that is, how transitory. When we talk about self-worth, are we not talking, really, about how we are reflected in the mirrors of other people’s minds? But do we need to depend on that? One understands one’s personal worth when one no longer identifies or defines one’s self in terms of these transient things.”

“Ever wonder what would have happened if you had made different choices in the past? – turned right instead of left, said yes instead of no? If you had made different choices, some things might have turned out better – and others, maybe worse. In any case, you’ll never know. As H.L. Mencken said, “We are here and it is not; all other knowledge is moonshine.” You have chosen this life, this path, this moment. Are we here to make infallible decisions so things always work out the way we hope or expect? Or is our life about learning, discovery, and wisdom?”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, August 1st, 2013 by Paul Ferrini in THE SILENCE OF THE HEART

“The greatest miracle you will ever experience does not lie outside of you. It lies within. That miracle is your very existence. That you exist at all is a testimony to God’s love. When you are in touch with God’s love for you, everything that happens in your life is miraculous. All you see are extraordinary opportunities to love, learn, create and be fully present in your life. When you are not in touch with God’s love for you, everything that happens in your life seems not to be good enough. You perpetually find fault with yourself, with others, and with your experience.

Your relationship to yourself and your creator determines the quality of your life. When you feel worthy of God’s love, you talk to God, confide in Her and are grateful for your life. When you feel you are just a random, purposeless creation, you have no one to talk to. You lead an isolated, aimless life. You do not know why you are here.

Purpose in life comes from the connection to the divine. It comes from the self-affirmation “I matter. There is something here I am meant to do. God has a plan for me.” Miracle consciousness depends on our ability to feel or intuit the presence of God in our life. And the ability to intuit God’s presence depends on our willingness to trust ourselves, to trust others and to trust our life as it unfolds.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, July 31st, 2013 by Neale Donald Walsch in FRIENDSHIP WITH GOD

“To be totally accepting means not to quarrel with what is showing up right now. It means not to reject it, or throw it back, or walk away from it, but to embrace it, hold it, love it as if it were your own. Because it is your own. It is your own creation, with which you are well pleased – unless you are not.

If you are not, you will resist owning what you have created, and what you resist persists. Therefore rejoice, and be glad, and should the present circumstance or condition be one which you now choose to change, simply choose to experience it in another way. The outward appearance, the outward manifestation, may not be altered at all, but your inner experience of it can and will be changed forever, simply out of your decision about it.

Remember, this is what you are after. You are not concerned with outer appearances, only with your inner experience. Let the outer world be what it is. Create your inner world as you would have it be. This is what is meant by being in your world, but not of it. This is mastery in living.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, July 30th, 2013 by Alan Cohen in WHY YOUR LIFE SUCKS AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT

“In relationships, unless everyone is winning, no one is winning. If your connection is faltering, don’t linger in dissatisfaction. Either change the relationship or change your mind. You can usually find a way to upgrade the situation (or your attitude toward it) so everyone is taken care of. Often you can make changes within the situation, and sometimes you must move on. You can communicate anything, including leaving a job, relationship, or living situation, with love, appreciation, and respect…If you offer someone sincerity and respect, you are protecting them in ways far deeper than avoiding saying no.

Rejection is protection. An honest no is as much a gift as an honest yes. It serves and blesses both giver and receiver. Behind every no is a yes. When you can find the yes, you will have the key to a win for everyone.”

“Forgiveness is essential to mental peace and radiant health. You must forgive everyone who has ever hurt you if you want perfect health and happiness. In the psychosomatic field of medicine today, it is being constantly stressed that resentment, condemnation of others, remorse, and hostility are behind a host of maladies ranging from arthritis to cardiac disease. They point out that these sick people, who were hurt, mistreated, deceived or injured, were full of resentment and hatred for those who hurt them. This caused inflamed and festering wounds in their subconscious minds. There is only one remedy. They have to cut out and discard their hurts, and the one and only sure way is by forgiveness.”

Best of PONDER on THIS for Friday, July 26th, 2013 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in YOU’LL SEE IT WHEN YOU BELIEVE IT

“We participate in attachment to the past when we attempt to determine for others what their spiritual choices should be, based on what we were taught to believe. What education we seek, what vocation we choose, who our friends will be, how we will vote, what we wear, how we speak, and even how we choose to think are often determined by attachments to traditions – traditions that are so overwhelmingly powerful that to ignore them often means complete ostracism from family or neighbors.

“You are a _____,” say your parents. “This is what you were born into, and you have no choice about it.” Such a sentiment has no place for the enlightened soul. How is it possible for anyone to grow if you always do things the way you have always done things?”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, July 25th, 2013 by Megan Don in MEDITATIONS WITH TERESA OF AVILA

“When we come to prayer with a humble heart, the door is opened much wider than when we think we are still affecting everything. Throughout her writings Teresa never tired of reminding us of the great benefits of entering into genuine humility, that is, of allowing the ego to release control. When we do this, our prayers can become pure and spontaneous thoughts of the soul, or simply a state of being where we rest rather than constant petitions for what we want.

Teresa strongly disliked repetitive prayers and voiced her displeasure at this religious ritual: “Would we give a friend so little attention?” she asked. She actively encouraged praying with thought and feeling and demanded respectful interaction with the divine, not simply uttering words out of habit or hope.”

“When people come to you and ask you for help, do as best as you can. Be kind, be generous, be gracious, be a big person and give of yourself – give of your energy. You don’t necessarily have to give of your money, but give of your energy. You can give them advice, love, expertise, but don’t pick them up. So when they say, “What should I do?” ask “What would you like to do?”

You get them to see that the only way up is when they’re enthusiastic about their life and their evolution on this earth plane. When their desire to achieve and perceive and create is greater than the ego’s self-indulgence, obstinacy, and destructive ways, then – and only then – will people change.”

“Try this: bring to mind someone you know, anybody. Hold this person in your mind and heart a moment, then say to him or her: “I accept you just as you are.” Ah, what a relief! You feel a great flood of relaxation and joy when you realize you can accept others just as they are. They’re fine! Let them be. They’re not your responsibility. Let them off the judgment hook, and you set them free to flower and flourish. And at the same time, you set yourself free.

Every day, run through the list of people in your life, silently say to each of them, “I accept you and love you just as you are,” and experience the great release of compassion, energy, and spontaneous healing that you unleash. Say it. Do it.”

“Taking responsibility is a huge task. Most of us are willing to take responsibility for the good we create in our lives, but we often resist taking responsibility for the bad. When we take responsibility, we can be empowered by everything. Even if we feel ashamed by something that happens, we can find peace in the knowledge that somehow it’s helping each of us to fulfill our dreams or direct our soul’s journey. We can look at ourselves and say, “the world is my canvas and I drew this event into my life to teach myself a valuable lesson.” We become accountable for everything that happens. We say to the universe, “I am the source of my own reality.’ This is the place of power from which you can alter your life.”
