BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, June 11th, 2012 by Fr. Anthony DeMello in AWARENESS

“I’m going to write a book someday and the title will be, “I’m an Ass, You”re an Ass.” That’s the most liberating, wonderful thing in the world, when you openly admit you’re an ass. It’s wonderful. When people tell me, “You’re wrong,” I say, “What can you expect of an ass?”

Disarmed, everybody has to be disarmed. In the final liberation, I’m an ass, you’re an ass. Normally the way it goes, I press a button and you’re up; I press another button and you’re down. How many people do you know who are unaffected by praise or blame? That isn’t human we say. Human means that you have to be a little monkey, so everybody can twist your tail, and you do whatever you OUGHT to be doing. But is that really human?”

Fr. Anthony DeMello, S.J., in “Awareness”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, June 8th, 2012 by Arnold Patent in YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL

“One of the ways we interfere with the free flow of energy is holding on to what we already have. We hold on to money or other things of material value. We hold on to people that we have a relationship with. Holding on to anything – people or material goods – blocks the free flow of energy around our experience with the person or object (car, house, clothing or bank account) and reduces the pleasure we experience. It also inhibits the free movement of new things and new people into our lives.

There is a difference between having something and holding on to it. You can own a house, enjoy it and feel no attachment to it. Or you can own a house and feel that it belongs to you, and that if you give it up you are losing something. The latter is attachment. It is a blocking of the free flow of energy into your life.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, June 7th, 2012 by Marianne Williamson in EVERYDAY GRACE

“When we want a miracle, we simply need to ask for one. In asking for a miracle, we are asking for a divine intercession, inviting the spirit of God to enter us and alter our perspective. It is useless to say, “Dear God, I want You to work a miracle, but I don’t want to have to change my mind about anything.” The Law of Cause and Effect is an immutable law of the universe. What we think is what we get, and God will not intervene between our thoughts and their effects.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, June 6th, 2012 by Neale Donald Walsch in FRIENDSHIP WITH GOD

“This is the New Gospel: There is no master race. There is no greatest nation. There is no one true religion. There is no inherently perfect philosophy. There is no always right political party, morally supreme economic system, or one and only way to heaven.

Erase these ideas from your memory. Eliminate them from your experience. Eradicate them from your culture. For these are thoughts of division and separation, and you have killed each other over these thoughts. Only the truth I give you here will save you: WE ARE ONE.

Carry this message far and wide, across oceans and over continents, around the corner and around the world.”

God, as spoken to Neale Donald Walsch, “Friendship with God”

“Recognize that the future is not fixed. All possible futures exist simultaneously and the one that we experience is the one with the greatest collective energy associated with it. Visualize the scenario that you desire and ignore any negative or limiting opinions of others. Any individual or institution that tells you differently is either ignorant or deliberately attempting to limit your future options. As you practice, you will increase your effectiveness. You will attract others of like mind, and influence those who surround you, who will help your desires to manifest. The best way to predict the future is to create it.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, June 4th, 2012 by Oriah Mountain Dreamer in THE INVITATION

“Seeing beauty is not about narrowing our vision, designating only some of its manifestations as worthy. It means expanding our definition of beauty, suspending our judgments, and appreciating the quiet joy of riding a bicycle along the lake and the raunchy glee of driving a cherry-red sports car that hugs the open highway. It means accepting the truth of being a middle-aged woman as it is reflected in both the lines and sagging muscles of my face and belly and the shine of my eyes.

Seeing beauty is about broadening our ability to recognize the interconnectedness of all manifestations of life and delighting in how the smells and sounds and tastes and sights that surround us conspire to draw us toward living fully.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Friday, June 1st, 2012 by Stuart Wilde

“For many, life is a constant search for an elusive quality we call security—we seek in our relationships, lumbering our partners and our children with our silent disquiet. Projecting our desire for security upon them—making them the custodian of our hopes and dreams. We attempt to achieve it by accumulating assets and money. We imagine that if we jog around like demented idiots with handfuls of vitamins and a strange concoction splashing away in our stomachs we’ll live forever.

Most die still trying desperately to achieve security—clutching their insurance policies, pensions, endowments, nest eggs, annuities and whatever other devices they may have accumulated and overpaid for as they went along.

We are all in the arms of the Second Law of Thermodynamics that requires atoms to entropy and die. Once you really understand that you can finally move toward safety. It’s our karma. There is no point in resisting.

In the end there is only one way you can ever become secure and that is to agree to let go and stop trying desperately to hold on. Instead, embrace life and live it and allow yourself to become vulnerable. Simultaneously, put your trust and love in the God Force. There is no other way. Get it quick and your life becomes a celebration of the gift of life and you will feel happy and secure in your vulnerability and you will be a lot less stressed out and a lot more loving to others. You will live longer than you might trying for security the other way.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, May 31st, 2012 by Don Miguel and Don Jose Ruiz in THE FIFTH AGREEMENT

“You don’t need to compete with anybody; you don’t need to compare yourself with anybody. You just need to be what you are, to be love, but real love, not the kind of love that possessed you and makes you believe in love. Not the love that makes you become jealous and possessive of others, and puts you directly in hell with all the tortures and punishments of hell. Not the love that makes you sacrifice in the name of love, or make you hurt yourself and others in the name of love. The symbol of love has become so distorted. Real love is what you were born with. Real love is what you are.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, May 30th, 2012 by Fr. Anthony DeMello in THE WAY TO LOVE

“Do you want a way to measure the degree of your rigidity and your deadness? Observe the amount of pain you experience when you lose a cherished idea or person or thing. The pain and the grief betray your clinging, do they not? Why is it you grieve so much at the loved one or the loss of a friend? You never took the time to seriously consider that all things change and pass away.

So death and loss and separation take you by surprise. You choose to live in a little attic of your illusion pretending that things will never change, that things will always be the same. That is why when life bursts into shatter your illusion you experience so much pain. In order to live you must look reality in the face, and then you will shed your fear of losing people and develop a taste for newness and change and uncertainty. You will shed your fear of losing the known and expectantly wait and welcome the unfamiliar and the unknown.”

“You alone are the architect of your life. You have two choices: One is to follow the lead of the external world and do what society tells you to do or the second option is to follow your genuine self and invent the person you aspire to be. BEST of PONDER on THIS for Monday, May 28th, 2012 by Stephen Levine

“In Zen there is a wonderful statement: “Spring comes and the grass grows all by itself.”  That statement shows us the wisdom of letting go of all attempts to maintain control and hide from pain (which thus turns it to suffering). To let go of control is to enter into creation in the act of becoming. We discover who we have always been when we stop attempting to become better than we really are. The very desire to be better than who we are is to have forgotten God. We need not be one iota different to directly experience the absolute vastness of our true being. In going beyond the mind, beyond that which blocks the heart, we discover who we have always been and always will be.”

Stephen Levine, in an essay entitled “Leaning Toward the Light”

“Once in a vision I came on some woods,
And stood at a fork in the road.
My choices were clear,
Yet I froze with the fear
Of not knowing which way to go.
One road was simple, acceptance of life
The other road offered sweet peace,
When I made my decision
My vision became my release.”

“We are not meant to stay wounded. We are supposed to move through our tragedies and challenges and to help each other move through the many painful episodes of our lives. By remaining stuck in the power of our wounds, we block our own transformation. We overlook the greater gifts inherent in our wounds – the strength to overcome them and the lessons that we are meant to receive through them. Wounds are the means through which we enter the hearts of other people. They are meant to teach us to be compassionate and wise.”

PONDER on THIS for Thursday, May 24th, 2012 by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in YOU’LL SEE IT WHEN YOU BELIEVE IT

“So many highly respected thinkers in disparate disciplines have concluded that thought, the mind, is the total determiner of how our lives will go. The Dutch philosopher Spinoza said, “I saw that all things I feared, and which feared me, had nothing good or bad in them save insofar as the mind was affected by them.” Albert Ellis, the founder of Rational Emotive Therapy, stated, “People and things do not upset us, rather we upset ourselves by believing that they can upset us.” “We become what we think about all day long,” according to Ralph Waldo Emerson. “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so,” Shakespeare tells us. Abraham Lincoln said, “People are about as happy as they make up their mind to be.” “Change your thoughts and you change your world” was how Norman Vincent Peale put it. Jesus tells us, “As you think, so shall you be.”

Our futures are formed by the thoughts we hold most often. We literally become what we think about, and we are all given the gift of being able to write our own story.”

BEST of PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012 by Dr. Joseph Murphy in THE AMAZING LAWS OF COSMIC MIND POWER

“You must give up your false beliefs, opinions and theories and exchange them for the truth which sets you free. You are not a victim of your five senses; neither are you controlled by external conditions or environment. You can change conditions by changing your mental attitude. Your thought and feeling create your destiny and determine your experience. Therefore, you can no longer blame others for your misery, pain, or failure.

When you see clearly that what you think, feel, believe and give mental consent to, consciously or unconsciously, determines all happenings, events, and circumstances of your life, you will cease to fear, resent, condemn and blame others. You will discover there is no one to change but yourself.”

PONDER on THIS for Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012 by Nicolya Christi in 2012 A CLARION CALL

“If you are unwell and praying for recovery, you may say, “Dear God, please help me to become well again.” This communicates to your higher self (your God Self) to whom you are praying, for we are all God), your DNA, your luminous energy field, and the environment that you are unwell, which further compounds this statement as a belief system and an experience. You are telling yourself you would like to become well again but you are placing that possibility outside of yourself, by requesting “outside” assistance from a higher Source.

What needs to be understood is that this higher Source is not separate from you in any way; it is both within and without. The higher Source is you and you are it. By praying to be well and happy, for inner peace and abundance, you are acknowledging that this state does not yet exist and therefore the environment, which is simply a mirror, will reflect this back to you. As you continue to pray for what you need, you will reinforce your neediness.”
